Esbatty - You guys have a very talented resident artist in the form of Ximena down there. She has come up some pretty good Morrigan nekkidness in her comic iirc. And I would de-lurk and contribute some smut there, but I wouldn't. Those back and forth intellectual responses between Terra and Brockolloly are too pristine for me to taint with my filthy mind.

Reika – A juxtaposed view of lyrium and love. You’ve done well there! *tips hat* I loved how you tackled the subject and I couldn’t agree more with the last line.
Rage – OMG! You are such a rogue! All I have to say is that it took me a while to stop laughing before I finally got to actually enjoy the view.
Tigress – Great job capturing the physical degeneration of addiction. Very realistic in the sense that it’s so true in RL cases.
Sarah – That was very well written. The dramatic irony in the form of the retiring templar’s declaration of loyalty to the Maker and the Chantry while greedily downing a bottle of lyrium pot was excellently executed. Stuff like that would make many English teachers/profs out there very proud.
Giggles – No! Not Bob! Say it ain’t so! Can’t wait for part deux and read what happens.

The very rich description in your writing – right from his first meeting with the newly recruited Warden, to his struggle with the withdrawal, and all the way to his recovery – made it so easy for me to envision it in my mind. And it was great how you played with the idea of fate having Alistair eventually (still) end up adventuring with the Warden.
KoP – I hereby declare thy DA PC version cherry... popped. I can’t wait to see more of your screenies! And your submission made me giggle. Alistair should’ve known better that those veins in the blue cheese looked kinda funny.

The Blue-eyed Beauty
“You do know they’ll give you lyrium, right princess?” He paused, “They do that to Templars, you know, to break their will, make them biddable…”
Niamh looked away.
“What you don’t want to hear this? You got yourself into this mess, child…”
He knew that would really make her angry with him, she hated him calling her that. Her eyes which were so like his flashed for a moment and her lower lip poked out a little making her look even younger.
“I could have told you all this, if you’d asked, hell I probably did at one time or another, not that you’d listen to me, of course… Because no woman ever bloody listens to me... Ever…” He realised he sounded old, even to his own ears, better move away from that, he thought.
“Look,” He said, realising that he needed to make an effort to speak adult-to-adult, that way she might actually pay him some heed. “The way it works is this… You’ll go to an evening service, it’ll probably be even more boring and more solemn that usual, they will remind you of your sacred duties, you the holy guardians of the well-being of humanity, the Maker’s chosen, the Maker’s hand, His shield, His sword, la-di-da-di-da…” He was making an impact, he could see, she no more believed in that claptrap than he did. Good that’s a start.
“Then, they’ll pass out these little cups, all of you will have one, they’ll pass round a jug and you’ll all fill the cups from the jug… and when you’re all holding your cups, most of you young dupes just dying to take a sip of the marvellous stuff you’ve all talked about in whispers for weeks… There’ll be more sermons… About half an hour extra, I’d say. So by the time the Revered Mother blesses you all and commands you to partake of the holy ichor, the substance of the Fade, you lot will be gagging for it… I know even I was, and I was frightened as f*** as to what the bloody stuff would do to me…”
“So did you drink it?” asked Niamh.
“That first time? Yes of course I did, I didn’t want to be left out, I wanted to know what it would be like, I was curious…”
“And what happened?”
“Niamh, I’ve told you this, how many times am I supposed to repeat the same things to you? I thought you were supposed to be bright…” He was beginning to get annoyed.
“Well tell me again…”
“Very well. It made me dizzy and nauseous, I saw stuff that didn’t make sense… At the time, I was only 17 or so, and knew even less of the world then than you do now.” He thought about it for a while, “Actually, probably much less.”
“But what did you see?” She persisted.
“A man and a woman…”
“What were they doing?”
“They… I am not going to say. Imagine it for yourself. That’s all I saw, the next thing I know, my head’s over the side of my cot and I’m being sick on the floor…”
“And that’s it?”
“That’s it. Really. I decided there and then that the stuff didn’t suit me and I never took it again… I prefer alcohol… As you know.”
She sighed and folded her arms over her chest.
“You should notice some things… I did… One, none of the Revered Mothers so much as touch the stuff… But after a certain stage they always seem to be pushing it at you. Two, when your mates have done it and you haven’t, walk around the dorm a little, it’s never been so quiet… That is SCARY. I don’t know what a female dorm is like, of course but a male one… Maker, there’s always grunting and heaving and snoring and…”
“I know.” She cut in.
“You know far too bloody much about some things, but not enough about others, obviously... As I was saying you could hear the silence all those bodies silent… As if… Well.”
“And the third thing?”
“The third thing…”
“Yes, there’s always three things, isn’t there?”
“Number three listen to what they say at breakfast, they go on about it, on and on and on, for a week for a month, what a buzz it was how good it felt, how they can’t wait for the next dose… It gets boring to listen to, if all you did was barf… And there’s always someone, someone cheeky, who says they know someone who knows someone who can get some more of the blue-eyed beauty, that’s what they called it in my day, anyway… Suddenly that person becomes the most popular person in the dorm, the mover and shaker…” He paused. “Niamh… I said I would tell you everything…”
“Well?”
“Well a few months after that Niamh, after the first cup, you’ll be made to kill a mage… Once they’ve given you the lyrium they start drafting you in to oversee Harrowings, sooner or later some poor sod in there can’t cope and will start thrashing on the floor. Then you step in, you’ll at least be made to hold them down, sometimes the killing is actually your responsibility… And you have to do it, you know, because when the mage starts convulsing it’s too late for them and you have to do what you have to do to avoid something even worse…”
Niamh was silent for a while she was thinking it over, he had told her most of these things before, perhaps not altogether but he had, but he had never gone so far. “Did you have to do that? Kill a mage?”
She saw his jaw clench, “What do you think, Niamh? Why do you think I’m so upset? This is no game…” He was angry again, then he cleared his throat and seemed to calm down, “After that, the killing, they’ll offer you another dose a very generous one, to make you feel better, they’ll say… Don’t take that one Niamh, or rather take it, thank them and tip it down the privy or somewhere because if you do, if you do take it… You are as good as lost…”
Note: This was a dialogue I was planning to write sooner or later for my FF, since I think it fits the prompt pretty neatly, I decided to write it in advance, guess it's a little AU...

@Zjarcal - I did try that Kick the H out of Howe, just a few days ago. It's okay, it wasn't good enough for me to keep. The "kick" is too fast to see, almost and the "memories" are short loops of animation so the heads snap back into place frequently as the loop reaches the end/beginning. I liked the idea though!
