I am deeply disappointed with how BW is handling this revelation about Witch Hunt being the end of the DAO content, especially since it was a month ago that they were talking about more DLC like Leliana's song. So in the past month they came to this epiphany? That DA2 was going to be so awesome that they could drop all attention away from DAO after the party line has consistently been "2 more years of DLC"? It wasn't even a year.

And, seriously, if their tone was slightly more apologetic it probably wouldn't bother me at all (besides breaking my fangirly heart). Maybe EA is making their decions for them on this one, but we're all standing here with our wallets out, slavering for more content from a game we know we love. They don't owe us more content, or an announcement, but if they're going to make an announcement, it behooves them to not make it seem like such a blatant brush off.

(Also, user created content is awesome, but for a game as character driven as Origins, creating quality content that involves characters is incredibly difficult. If they'd focused more on that end of things, stuff like Leliana' Song, and left hack and slashes to the community, Priestly's comments on that end would seem less like a joke.)

Maybe DA2 will be a megafantastic game. I know that I'll be buying it (as a devoted Sims player, I am quite used to being treated like utter crap by EA, yet I keep going back for more). I just wish that they weren't tossing aside DAO in such a half-assed manner. And so help me, if there is no update to the toolset so that Awakening can be modded, I will...continue to be mildly disappointed on the internet while writing copious amounts of DA fanfic. I'm going to start a Dalish playthrough, with the intent of being a psycho biznitch.  This, of course, will ****** Alistair off a LOT.  My question is, is it worth it to intentionally ****** him off all the time?  Will it make much of a difference to have him at like -100 versus -50 or -25?  Basically, should I just go balls to the wall or let the hate "happen"?

I can't remember everything? I haven't had Alistair at hate in awhile, so i might miss out something. You won't be able to do his sidequest and harden him, if he hates your PC. I played a male Dalish, who he loathed and i put a softened Alistair on the throne at the Landsmeet.  Do you intend to side with Anora? You're a Dalsh elf siding with someone who was involved with slave trading? Siding with Loghain didn't make any sense to me. My character hated humans "because of slavery and dalish history".

I played a M/Dwarf Commoner and Alistair hated him, this was the only time i spared Loghain. This character had nothing to lose.

(Edit- Formatting hates me.)

I don't really have a plan as to what I'm going to do with the big decisions....I want to just kind of let them happen in the moment.  So I don't know what if I'll side with Anora, or spare Loghain.  I do know that I don't think the PC will be sympathetic towards Alistair's sister situation.  I can't see her saying "people suck, you need to learn that".  I think her attitude will be more "Ugh!  Shut up you big whiner!".

I'm getting excited about playing this PC...I always find myself trying to make firends with all ym PCs, so it will be fun to jsut see what happeneds....

Hmm..new companions for Witch Hunt? No Alistair again? :( ... Actually I would skip this dlc anyway. Don't care what this witch is up to :P. If she said don't follow...ok I won't follow xD...Meh, don't need her stabbing my Warden in the back and letting sad Alistair behind, no, no.

Sorry for beating a dead horse, but didn't they just recently (after DA2 was announced) reassure us that we will still be getting content for Origins?  Weren't they talking about other companion dlcs?  It seems like this is a very sudden turn around.  And lumping Witch Hunt in with DSC and GoA dampens my hope that it's going to be an awesome ending to my warden's story.

I'm one of the few that's looking forward to DA2.  I'll definitely buy it and probably enjoy it.  But that doesn't mean that I'm not extremely disappointed at the way this has been handled.

But during all the quiet months before DA2 is released, when I won't be giving EA my money for dlcs like I had anticipated, at least I'll be able to enjoy moments like this.

He gives you the -100 speech and is sexy angry!  -100 -100! Do it!

Though really, I would just let things happen how they're going to happen.  I'm just glad he and my blood mage are such polar opposites that he probably will get to -100 on that playthrough...but he and my Brosca, for instance, will have an interesting relationship as she's utterly practical but not evil.  So she thinks lyrium control of the templars by the Chantry is a pretty brilliant idea, but helps people along the way.  :P  He goes from hating to liking her, but she's reserved for Zevran!  I hope.  Don't know yet if they'll hit it off!

My husband compared it to ditching the girl you brought to the dance.  If you consider all the changes being made to the franchise, the fact that the whole "Baldur's Gate successor" thing is being ditched, and now this, it does seem like we're getting the heave ho, even though the girl is putting out.  Despite the fact that they keep bringing back weak punch.

Shall I be the one to point out that we got a bunch of meaningless dungeon crawls and the only companion DLCs they give us are for the female LIs?  Meanwhile we're getting macho Hawke shoved down our throats?  I would be happy about a Morrigan DLC if I knew it wasn't going to be the last one.  But seems to me that the girl at the dance being given the f'off is quite literally the girl- the female players.

Why would they do that?  They're not supporting Origins anymore.  They never did support Awakening.  It's nice we'll see Nate again but judging by their philosphy on NPCs, it seems to be to move them through a revolving door.  Gaider's comments on Maric in that interview I posted yesterday are a clue.  Someone in marketing obviously thinks if people have even heard the name once before, they don't want to see that character again in any way, shape or form.  And how stupid is that?

Anyway. How about Alistair? That guy is cool.

That's funny, because with every dev announcement about the franchise I feel like a backward idiot for actually liking Origins.

Not in much of a squee mood, but have some dwarf sex for Thursday and old time's sake.

It's EA.

Actually I feared such a thing to happen with Mass Effect 2 (since it was in development when BW got devoured by them) but it's so nice to see it happen now with a game I even love more >.>

Anyway back to gaming business, I suppose. With Alonis my M!Dalish I have ditched the idea of courting Leliana now in favor for Morrigan, due to the DLC. I can't see myself playing another Cousland, somehow and are already halfway through with him anyway. Also Morrigan clearly likes Dalish dudes because I have barely spoke with her and she was already "RAWR HANDS OFF ****" to Leliana in a banter xD I plan to marry hardened!Alistair off to Anora this time, though. May he find a nice mistress that ease the pain of having such a wrench as wife...or I should take him to the pearl and show him that there is no broth in brothel to get....but nice other stuff xD Epic Bromance here. My Dalish Warden's, female or male get along with him just fine. Alonis a lot faster than Lenya though, because he's less thickheaded and more open minded toward humans.

I really don't think DA2 has anything to do with why I'm upset....

Anyway, Surely said exactly what I feel. Has nothing to do with DA2 but the fact that we were told 2 years, and now we get a DLC which does look decent, but it going to end Origins, seriously? And you can't even return the main characters for on last little thing? Fail imo.

Well, it's just really irritating to me to be called mindless and a "bro" and a sycophant and all those wonderful sort of things that imply that my brain is made of wet toilet paper. Even if all the things they're announcing sound absolutely horrible and disgusting to some, I am perfectly capable of making the decision that it sounds interesting to me. I enjoyed DA:O as much as the next person who spends months on these forums discussing and dissecting it. It really does bother me that the same people I was buddies with are suddenly indirectly calling me names the moment I disagree, and lumping me in with the douchebags yelling "Sh0w me UR titz!!11 lololol newb pnwed!1111 qq" while teabagging the person they just killed in Halo.

The same way it frustrates you guys that BioWare is going in a different direction, it frustrates me that not hating it automatically labels me and other people as idiots.

Whatever. Really. The Alistair thread has pretty much died for me. I still love Origins and the characters but I don't think I'll be sticking around here much.

Not sure if you're referring to me, but when did I ever say that someone who likes what they hear about DA2 or is excited about it is... all those things?  In fact I've always said, I'm happy for you if you're excited.  I wish I could be.

If Brock or others talk about the bros, it's because it appears that that is who Bioware is reaching out to, with hack and slash DLCs and all the talk about "amped" and "Spartans" and such nonsense.  If you choose to take it personally... I don't know why you would.  That's your choice.

I will confess, I haven't actually seen anyone calling people idiots or stupid for liking what they've seen of DA2 so far. *shrugs* Maybe I'm just not in the right places to see that. I think the problem became, like very many things do, when people are upset about something, being super chipper and excited and attempting to convert them has the opposite effect.

I'm not saying you did that, by the way. It was the whole "This is going to be awesome! Why can't you see that? Everything BW does is awesome~!" vibe that went around. For people who were dismayed and upset, all that did was alienate them further.

Will I get DA2? Yes.
Will I enjoy it? Probably.
Am I pissed that DAO is ending this way, in part because of DA2? Definitely.

I guess I just *really* resent being lumped in with people I'd rather have no association with. And it's not just this thread. It doesn't have to be said outright (though it has) for the implication in a lot of posts that DA2 is for mindless 'bros' or whatever. All over the DAO/DA2 boards I've seen a lot of "God, this sucks, how could you possibly think this is going to be remotely good?" It's just annoying, just like it'd be annoying if I came in and told you all to quit whining because it's ~leik tewtaly gunna be teh ossumz!1111~ Which I'd never do, because there are a lot of legitimate complaints.

If I like something, I don't particularly care who it's targeted towards. There are plently of games, movies, books, shows, music that I love that people heap disdain down upon. I like them, so everyone else can go screw. I can understand the target audience of something and know that I'm not that audience and still enjoy something.

Speaking of Alistair, I need a HNM save pre-landsmeet, having gotten Anora to agree to marry them. >.>

Same here. Maybe a little if I admit because after those dev posts it seems that they can't  push aside DAO fast enough to shove mega-awesome DA2 down our throats. Such a behavior is annoying, really and like cme said FAIL.

I'm happy for everyone who's able to enjoy Hawke or anything related to it because I cleary can't myself. To each their own, for Maker's sake. My euphoric toward it has never been great to begin with, and it has practically died completely with the last day.

Thanks Bioware.[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/angry.png[/smilie]

I know that I will play DA2 at some point, but others than DAO it will not be on day 1 (rather as a budget title) and will be just another game in my already vast collection, I couldn't care less of *shrug*

I'll go now and squee over Alistair in my fanfic.

I just have many feelings on the internet, LadyD  It just... it gets kind of annoying after a while. I don't think my bad mood in general is adding to my rationality. After all, I am used to being lumped in with certain groups for my interests (as an anime/animation fan in general, you know all the stereotypes!) but it's just kind of hurtful when it's from the people in your own group, so to speak.

Then again, I am shaking my head at BioWare. If anyone's being dumb, it's them. I mean, did they really expect "OH YEAH BTW DAO IS DONE" to go over well? Have they not been paying attention to what people say for the last couple of years? Derp. Sometimes I think they like the abuse.

Okay. Now I'm really gone. Not to mention I am in the process of moving to another country right now sooo... (waves to my new Canadian neighbors)

Exactly my feelings, as well.  This game was a watershed for me as far as games are concerned.  I hated ME2, but have to be honest and say I only lasted about three hours and still had no idea what the heck I was doing. I have this fear that DA2 will be just like it  *shudders in horror*

No one here would ding you for looking forward to DA2, we all are looking forward to it; which, again, doesn't mean we don't mourn the demise of DA:O.  Please don't lump us with those who do.

You probably mean cmessaz's new origin-specific scenes.  You have to go back to Eamon's and talk to the maid in the foyer.

The one good thing about the Morrigan DLC is that Gaider is writing for Morri.  So I'm gonna go out on a limb and say we won't be hearing any stupidity along the lines of the Wynne-Alistair grossness, something like "your BF was great in bed, thanks for the god baby."

I have that, I just thought someone had added a short scene after killing Howe, maybe we just all talked about it. It's always a bit disconcerting when your HNF finally kills Howe, then......nothing, no one says a thing. Ah well, guess I dreamed it was a reality :)
