Soooooo...I had a really beautiful idea for the guest prompt, but decided it would be too much effort.
Here's a goofy conversation instead! Obviously inspired by yankee's picture...
Alistair: In a perfect world, we would have never met...
Brand: Wait a minute. Define "perfect."
Alistair: What? I guess...no darkspawn?
Brand: Ok.
Alistair: We'd not have a bounty on our head, because Loghain wouldn't have abandoned Cailan at Ostagar...
Brand: Right! Because, if there aren't darkspawn, there would be no Ostagar.
Alistair: Yes! Wait. Noooooo. If there are no darkspawn, then I would still be a templar, full on. Lyrium addiction and everything.
Brand: Perfect world, remember? Your dad acknowledged you, maybe even married your mother. Boom, you're a prince. For real.
Alistair: A
real prince? Hmmm, I don't know about that. Would I be all "Ho, there!" and "Glorious!"?
Brand: Of course not! Perfect world! Also, Maric is still king, so you can just fool around sparring and riding around Ferelden looking for the village with the best cheese.
Alistair: That sounds nice, sure, but what about
us? That was the point I was trying to make...I think.
Brand: Um, in a perfect world, my family would still be alive.
Alistair: I
guess so...
Brand: And we would still be the second most powerful family in Ferelden...Fergus would become teyrn and I'd be, you know,
otherwise unengaged.
Alistair: Well, that sounds nice enough...
Brand: Do I have to spell it out for you?
Alistair: Spell it...oh. Oh! I see where you're going with this. I'd be the spare...
Brand: And I
do love sparring and cheese. Although we'd have a lot of time on our hands. Fortunately, what Leliana says about bored noblewomen and the things they teach themselves to pass the time?
Totally true.
Alistair: *stares into the middle distance and drools a little*
Brand: It would be
awesome, right? Now what was the point you were trying to make?
Alistair: I don't even know anymore. But I may have a hard time thinking about cheese any time soon without, you know.
Blushing.
Brand:
