I do see your point and again I am thrilled. But my issue: I make Alistair a grey warden with me in one of my endings. Where the hell was he in Awakening? We got no letter, nothing. At the end we ran off together. So he is not present in the final DLC, because? I would be just fine if they would give me a reason for his absence, whatever it may be. But they gave us jack, he's just not there and I suspect it will be the same in this DLC. THAT is my problem.

I concur that a letter from him in Awakening if a GW explaining his absence would have been great.
Maybe you get one in the DLC? Who knows.

THIS is exactly what I want. But I am not confident, given the past DLCs. I certainly hope I'm wrong. :D

Why does top always fall to me <_<

It simply isn't true that you couldn't have anything Alistair-related as a DLC.  Really, do you think the writers are that unimaginative?  The idea we've talked about here is a DLC with a newly recruited Warden Alistair and Duncan as controllable character, fighting a darkspawn battle, maybe we see Alistair's Joining where Riordan is also present, see some of the other Fereldan Wardens you only glimpse in the DN origin.

Sorry, but you guys really need to back off.  This is not the place for this argument, and maybe not the time.

Considering what we had, yes the writers are unimaginative...

Yea sure, Alistair's backstory could have been interesting, but well we already know what happened. You could argue the same with Leliana, but we never really got to hear the details of what happened. And that it sounds more interesting and action filled (I don't care about the latter, but most people do).
Now a Duncan DLC, which could pass by Alistair's recruitment would have been interesting.

I am sorry, I am not trying to anger, troll or offend anyone. I understand you want more Alistair. The question is, would most people want that? Not so sure about that, unfortunately.

Seriously? No. I have no interest in Alistair's backstory anymore than Leliana's. (Please don't hurt me) I just want my story to flow well. Imo it hasn't.

I would wager that she is more popular with most gamers (males) than Alistair. And that her backstory sounds more "spectacular" (for a lack of a better word. I am not belittling what Alistair had gone through) thus easier to tell in a DLC.

I did not care for it personally btw.

And I get that. I am excited for this DLC, it just seems cheap that it will not have at least some measure of closure for all LIs. I mean, GW Alistair was where during Awakening? And will be where while we chase Morrigan? My guess is we won't know, but I hope I'm wrong.

You have a sodding measure of closure for all LIs save for Morrigan, for Alistair, Zevran, Leliana who all have epilogue slides detailing what happens to them and the Warden at the end of Awakening.

This DLC will only give that same closure to those that romanced Morrigan.

And maybe some of us just wat Alistair to BE IN THE PARTY since HE is the father of our DR god babies because we *gasp* couldn't perform it as female characters? I know I got closure for the romances, but I think it's ridiculously negligent if he's not involved in the hunt since it's HIS child.:?

Yes, he *should* have been present. But, is it cost effective to have to pay 2 Origins main VAs, and take into account the endings concerning Alistair, for a 7$ DLC?
Of course, it can be argued and I would agree, that it should have been an expansion. But DA2 is in the way as Chris very bluntly said.

TBH, I think Zevran's backstory would be more interesting than Leliana's and would make for a good DLC. But I also understand why people would want Leliana's, and Morrigan's.

Would I like to see more Alistair? Of course I would! Can I think of a good DLC story for Alistair? No. I'm also not a writer, and I'm sure a good writer could. But Alistair's backstory is pretty solid, whereas Leliana's and Zev's aren't.

As far as DLC's that take place in the future? I think just logistically, an Alistair one wouldn't work. He could be king, he could be dead, he could be a wandering drunk. How do you tie those 3 storylines into one DLC? Or you'd have to create 3 different DLCs.

I don't know how much of it has to do with what's "popular", and more so what they can create into a mini-story.

Most of the discussion going on here since the witch hunt announcement here has not been "we fangirls/boys are mad because Alistair doesn't have a dlc." Many of us like the idea of witch hunt. There is legitimate curiosity as to whether he will play a part since it is likely he was the one to do the DR, but what we do have a problem with is the change of tune about future dlc and the seeming (and admitted) decision to drop new DA:O content because of DA2. Just because this is the Alistair gush thread doesn't automaticlly mean our displeasure is all about Alistair.

I wouldn't disagree with that. Hell 3 of my 4 characters made Loghain do the DR, so he get his ass back in Fereldan.

Sadly I know this won't be the case, not that I would be against Alistair being there.

4 actually, there is one where he doesn't became king and remains a warden.

There would only be a way to make such a DLC......to simply ignore the other choices. Creating such a DLC would mean ignoring a player's choice to kill Alistair, which is why I am very against it. And just before a troll comes and says I hate Alistair, let me make it clear that I do not want a Loghain/Sten/Zevran/Leliana DLC set in the future for the exact same reason.

I can't speak for everyone, but to have original party members return for one last dlc I would gladly pay 20 bucks. IDK, as one of those who are "still on the fence" about DA2, this news is upsetting to me. (I'm not saying it's bad so no one get mad) I'm just saying I'm still sort of blah about it.

Like you said, Zevran's story is more interesting or at least as interesting as Leliana's. And I think it wasn't made partially because he isn't that popular sadly.

Of course, we can't measure popularity. But we can have some basic idea, if we know how most people think.
Golem and Darkspawn DLCs, which have little to no story, are designed to appeal to them.

Eh, I would have paid full game price for a Morrigan expansion. But I am not sure most people would and Bioware has to take that into account.

Many players don't really care about DLC, and from those that do there are only a few which care about their companion characters.

@ Costin.That is unfortunately true.

Anyways, I think I'll leave quietly. I don't want to sound like a troll, which I realise I may have, and offend anyone. For what it's worth, I really hope we get an explanation as to why Alistair, if GW, isn't here.

I am primarily a lurker here, but I too am disappointed that we may never see Alistair again. Although I loved Origins and enjoyed the DLC, I truly feel that abandoning Origins so abruptly is unfortunate. Yes, Morrigan's story was left hanging and I think it's great that all of us get a chance to tie up that loose thread. I do think that Alistair in whatever incarnation should be present during this (unless he is dead of course) as this is HIS child.

I would also love to see more back story on Zevran. He seems to have had a very colorful life and it would be a shame to walk away from that potential.

My hope is that either Bioware has somehow created an ending in "The Witch Hunt" that gives the rest of us some satisfaction with our end; or, that Bioware will reconsider and throw us a DA2 DLC (perhaps answering our calling) that will allow us to truly lay our wardens to rest.

Yeah, I don't get why you two are in here when people are clearly just grieving over the end of their journeys with their respective LIs. The Zev thread is dealing with disappointment as well, but I don't see anyone telling them to get over it. The writers are not reading this thread and no one's minds are going to be changed as a result. Let people vent their disappointment and move on.

And so you just decided to come in and fling crap at the few of us who do, for... what reason?  Because of the outrageous comment on a freaking Alistair fan thread that we'd like to see more Alistair...Posted Image

But yeah, we get it, you killed Alistair and you want to make sure you never have to see him again.  Have a cookie.
