If I were Teagan's lover, I would cut off his braid while he slept. @ RC, you Teagan looks like Al ... could he be the real father? hmm

@KoP - Thank you! I love that scene. Is that without Isolde or did you just do a favor and cut her out of the pic?

She is dead.

Woot!  A man after my own heart.

I actually think Teagan is secretly happy when you kill off Isolde. In my fan fiction, Isolde is always portrayed as a stain on the Guerrin family honor. ;)

Really? The only connection I'm seeing is that he almost tried to assassinate you. (I feel I should add that I'm not trying to say that you're wrong, just that I don't get what you mean by that)

I'm a major Teagan fangirl.  I really wish someone had come up with a Teagan companion mod.  But to be honest, Anders in Awakenings kinda irritated me after awhile.  In the game, I much prefer Nate.  But in ff I adore Surelyforth's Anders.  <3

I like the Awakenings guys but Teagan is really the only character that I would have to make a warden for, other than Alistair, if he was available as a LI. Tbh, I think my opinion of Teagan has alot to do with the fact that he seems to be the only one who genuinely cares about Alistiar.

I think it's the woobie factor that makes Nathaniel ~ Alistair.  I would guess that he's like Zevran in his stealthy assassin-ness.

I think Branka is one of the characters I love to hate. She is the Cammen of the dwarves for me. When she comes running, hissing "RAAAWR MAAA AAANVIIIILLLL!!" I have to suppress the urge to smack her insane head against the nearest sharp stone. Which I actually do then only moments later. Heh.

Thanks again, Sarah <3

@ RC - what hair does your Teagan have? It's not the Duncan, is it?

Oh and I totally do NOT dig Teagan or Anders in any kind of way. They are blah/bland to me. Though I respect Teagan for treating Alistair actually like a human. And I like Anders, just not in that squeeing, fawning way. That is all reserved for that certain ex-templar. <3

Yeah, same.  I like both of them, but as romance material just find them dull.  Oh, with Anders too, the cat chatter.  Cute at first, but too much.  Posted Image  I still always have him in the party.  Good mage, and it's all worth it when Nathaniel starts talking to him.  I can't get enough of that "Do you have a point.  Anders."  Posted Image

Yes.  Yes.  Yes.

I hate the dangly braids on men.  Teagan's braid drives me crazy.  It's not quite as silly looking as Loghain's braid, but it's still awful.  The only male braids that I like are the Maric/Cailan braids.  At least those are subtle and out of the way.

Some on-topic but unclothed Alistair.

*edited to add - and an off-topic and also unclothed Teagan.

Something I never understood about Branka,

Why not leave a trail and map your way back to Orzamar so you can bring the Legion and as many soldiers as you can muster to capture the anvil if its so important?

I know she is obsessed and off her rocker but still did no one in her house say "lets map our way back so we can hold this place in force and get some help!"

The problem is, is that Branka is the only who understands it and can use it, unfortunately. Supposedly, even though she's whacked, she's a genuis, and the anvil is an incredibly complex device.

Yes but she is camping behind enemy lines.
If she had gone back for aid she could have studied it more safely and not killed her house.

As soon as she said "they were sworn to me, they had no right to refuse me". She was dead.
She murdered her house, and intentionally handed women over knowing what they would become.

There is no way I was handing it over to her.

That's pretty much what my canon does as well, and my favored opinion of how to deal with the anvil. If it wasn't for branka, that thing would get saved in alot more playthroughs, because I have no problems with it ethically, so long as the people used on it are either volunteers or incurable, dangerous criminals.

Anyone who would turn their house, and ultimately, their beloved, into darkspawn food or broodmothers for the sake of expierments and testing traps is not who I want holding the key to making a nigh unstoppable army of metal men.

In game, you deal on the premise that Branka is the only person alive capable of operating the anvil and understanding it in the time frame you personally need it. I wish there was a way to double cross her and take the envil back to Orzammar, not get golems for the Blight as a consequence, but have the anvil available for the dwarves to study in the hopes that eventually, someone will figure it out.

@ Skadi_the_Evil_Elf Even if you destroy the Anvil, I believe there is an epilogue slide saying that the dwarves find fragments of it, rebuild it, and put a soul from the Fade in a golem. Then things go horribly awry.

I like the male braids.  I probably would like a loose long-haired style better, a la Buliwyf, but braids and warrior men make a lovely combination in my book.

And, winter is coming!  (that's the guy playing Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones)

I really think playing an elf during my first left lasting impressions on me regarding certain characters. It all goes back to those who weren't put off by my being an elf. Alistair being the first (and look where that goes lol) who made my DE feel like a person and not a circus attraction. And that's why I think I like Teagan since he doesn't make any comments (that I can recall) about my Warden's race.

The perfect ending, I think, would be getting Branka to make you the crown and then the minute she hands it to you, kill her. You can talk her into suicide at this point, but then she destroys the Anvil first. Yes, no one alive is said to be capable of using the Anvil but at least it's not going to be lost forever. It would even be perfectly safe to bring back to Orzammar as no one could work it but eventually another less-crazy Branka would come along.

They don't rebuild the anvil, the try and research on what little is left of it.

The reason things go awry is because they use a fade spirit instead of a living soul to animate the golems. This is because they do not know how to turn living dwarves into golems, that secret is lost with the anvil.

We also see in Golems of Annorak even more horrific results were achieved in another case where they attempt to rediscover the anvil's secrets. Again, use of Fade spirits, since the technique of making dwarves into golems is unknown.

@sarah: Total agreement there. That would be the most satisfactory possible outcome: trading the use old golems immediately in the Blight, for the long term possibility of someone more stable learning to operate it, and creating an army of golems to deal with darkspawn inbetween Blights, as well as the recapture of the lost Thaigs.

@ Skadi: I was just going off the wiki entry - it mentions something about the dwarves trying to recreate it from its remains. As for Golems of Amgarrak, I didn't really pay attention, haha ;P

Bhelen with the anvil is not that bad really.

He only gets angry when Branka does not let him be the only one who gets Golem's though.

But the slide does say that he keeps making them to CONTINUE to push the darkspawn back. That is very good since it means the dwarves are going onto the offensive.

@Addai-

I really like Ronan from SG:Atlantis, he turned into my favourite charachter.

Re: Nathaniel

He's got Alistair's good manners, but Zevran's maturity as well. Nathaniel is less likely to be outraged with the choices the warden makes. Nathaniel carries a lot of family baggage on his shoulders, but he doesn't need his hand held -- he is his own man. Nathaniel reminded me the most of Alistair when he specifically requested to join the Grey Wardens. He wanted to support a good cause. He reminded me the most of Zevran in his party banters because he shows a lot of respect to the person he's talking to (namely Sigrun). Zevran's great with his party banters. I am just saying that I saw the best aspects of both Alistair and Zevran present in Nathaniel, not that he's better than either of these men. They're all written by the same man -- some stuff is bound to be recycled.  =p

Nathaniel grew on me eventually, but at first he got a bit on my nerves talking so much about his family and their issues. I have only played with a hnf...at first it was very much "I know you have family baggage, but I really don't want to hear it since your family slaughtered mine" She got over it, though.

I don't think there is a perfect answer to the anvil.  While your suggestion is probably the best, I believe the dwarves would eventually find themselves right back where they were... forcing people to give their lives to the production of golems.  It just seems to me to be one of those no win situations.  Destroy it and get the demons we know from the epilogue and DLC or keep it (even killing Branka) and eventually doom the casteless and politically "dangerous" once again.

To play the devil's advocate. Had Branka gone back to Orzammar and told them she found the anvil. What do you think would have happened?

The most likely scenario is that Noble Houses are going to start competing over it and thus the anvil will become politicized, the Assembly is going to start fighting over it and that's what Branka fled from in the first place.
If looked that this way, I can understand why Branka chose to not tell anyone about it.

My main problem with her however, like you quoted, is her inability to comprehend what she sacrificed and how she makes it sound like her House's sole purpose is to die for her if she said so. I found that revolting, and that's the major difference between her and Loghain. Loghain knows what he is sacrificing and when he says to Wynne " I knew their names, mage, and where they came from. I knew their families [...] they were my men. I know exactly how much I lost that day", you can see that he is not oblivious to their plight and is saddened by it, something Branka does not exhibit.

I still choose to keep the anvil however, because its usefulness in fighting the immediate threat, for me, surpasses Branka's potentially threatening madness.

@Knight.

I really would like to keep it, but I dont feel comfortable handing something so powerful over to someone so twisted and well insane.

I have done it a few times but in the end I just cant trust Branka not to do somethine bad.

Like in the Harrowmont slide if you keep the anvil.

Did he have dialogue specific to a Cousland? I only played dwarves in Awakening so I didn't know if he had extra dialogue or if I was just less sensitive to his conversations because I didn't have the Howe baggage attached to my characters.
