Maybe for the next prompt we could write what meeting Drunkistair would be like.

Guest Prompt:  Hawke walks into a bar and sees Drunkistair.

“It’s true! I really was a Grey Warden, once. They even wanted to put me on the throne because of my Theirin blood, but that all ended –“ the disheveled dusty blond headed man stopped talking as he realized his friend’s eyes were riveted to the door, the tavern having grown deathly quiet.

Slowly he turned to see what had caught the patrons interest. His cup crashed to the floor as his body went numb. “Ty—“ he started to say before the red haired beauty brushed her hair back behind her ears, revealing them to be human. But still he stared. As did the other “gentlemen” in the bar.

Her eyes roamed the room, purposely ignoring the stares. It was evident she was used to this type of attention and counted it for naught. Seeing a seat open, she made her way to the bar and settled in next to Alistair.

“I think you dropped something,” she said, eyeing the broken mug on the floor just as a serving girl came rushing up to clean up the mess.

“Forgive me,” he replied, willing his mouth to work. “You—you just reminded me of someone I once knew.”

Lily laughed, a rich throaty laugh that warmed the soul. “Let me guess, Tygra, Warden Commander of the Wardens in Ferelden, right?”

Alistair had the grace to blush. “I take it you’ve heard that line before.”

“Yes, though not in these parts.”

“No, I imagine not,” he replied, nodding his thanks to the barmaid as she set another mug in front of him. “Not too many up here know much of Ferelden.”

“I’ll have what he’s having,” Lily said to the barmaid before she took her leave. “But you do?” she said, turning her attention back to him.

“More than I ever wanted to,” he said, taking a swig.

Lily studied this man, with what appeared to be the weight of the world on his shoulders. His face seemed somehow familiar, but she couldn’t place it. His features were haggard, a result of too much alcohol, she was sure, judging by the speed in which he downed his tankard. But his eyes, his eyes were so telling, as if he carried his soul in their brown depths.

“You know, I met her once,” she said, taking a sip of the mead the serving girl had just delivered.

“Who?” he asked.

“Tygra.”

He winced at the name, unconsciously. “So did I.”

She waited for him to continue but he only took another long pull on his drink and went back to staring into his cup.

“I was in Lothering when the Darkspawn invasion began. Loghain’s men had been asking all over town about her and another Grey War—“she froze, staring at him, unable to believe her eyes. “You! You were with her, weren’t you?”

Alistair nodded and took another drink. “Yes,” he said, wiping his mouth off.

Lily wracked her brain trying to remember what had happened to the handsome young Warden. Her family had fled north at the onset of the blight and news from home was sparse and unreliable. But she thought she remembered something about a Grey Warden prince who’d fled Ferelden just before Denerim was attacked.

“What brings you here?” she asked, figuring that was more tactful than asking him why he ran away.

“Guilt,” he replied, standing up. He finished off his drink, dropped a few coins on the table and shrugged on his coat. “No matter how far I go, it still finds me.” Turning, he walked out the door.

Nice, Tigress!

Is this prompt just about Garrett Hawke & Drunkenstair? I'm still not sure how I feel about Lady Hawke getting her hands on him.

@tuppence - Not that we'll get anything close to a chance like this in DA2, but I would not be adverse to LadyHawke being his salvation. Maker knows he's probably going to need SOMEONE to help him back on his feet.

@RC - Thanks. And escape it is. At this point in his life, he's still not ready to deal with his past... or his future.

@Sky - Yes, yes he does need help.

@Maria - ROFL! Who knows. The feeling I got while writing Lily was that she doesn't have time to babysit a Drunkistair. Maybe another LadyHawke would be willing to do that, but Lily feels like she'd want a man who could hold his own, which Alistair clearly can't in her view at their first meeting.

@Yankee - LMBO! Yeah, I'm sure I'd have a LadyHawke's of my own that would be willing to volunteer. But apparently, not Lily. Funny how, even in such a short piece, characters can take on a life of their own. She's the first thought I've had to how I'll play a Hawke and it's interesting to feel a character already developing, for a game that's not even released yet.

Oh, and since it's smut day... here's some more!

Speaking of smut. That new meme is boring! Its like 80% Anders and Zevran. What happened to using the other characters????????????

They might as well call it the Anders/Zevran Tent Party. Now I know people may enjoy that and thats their right... It sure would be nice to see Alistair & the other characters used more.

The only thing worth going over there for is is some of the fan fiction series that is posted there.

Oh and Alistair agrees with me....

Is the problem a lack of prompts posted relating to Alistair and other characters or that the prompts there are not being filled? If it's the former, you could always try posting some different prompts yourself.

I might just do that. I know another friend is thinking of giving it a try.

The new meme just seems slanted for two fan groups.... Anders and or Zevran and very little of anything else.

Its a new meme but for the most part is boring.  Its about 40% Anders 40% Zevran & 20% everything else

I do like some of the fan fiction series that are posted there but the majority of the meme stuff is just one huge yawn.

It needs to be more balanced and not slanted towards two fan groups.

@Sarah - I'm terrible at coming up with names. 99% of my characters (in any game) are named Tigress just because that's been my on-line nick since the early 90's. It wasn't until I started getting serious about writing that I finally got around to branching out on the name thing.

I use this method for naming..........

For noble females they start with M. males are J or t

Mages for Male or Female start with this S

Dwarves get the letter D

Dalish get the letters L or A    :wizard:

I haven't checked out the new meme.  I don't mind Anders smut at all.  But if it doesn't have Alistair, Duncan or Teagan ... -_-

Actually re: the "Teagan = boring" posts yesterday ... I was thinking about that, and to be honest, Teagan ff isn't as dramatically interesting as some others.  And I think it's because he seems to be such a well-balanced, self-assured, stable guy, it isn't easy to get as dramatic with him as a subject.

I really like Melca's Teagan*.  But on the whole, he's a "safer" character than someone with a lot of issues.  And I guess that's why he isn't a LI.  If he's damaged or "broken" at all, he sure doesn't show it.  He looks like he'd take care of you, not be someone who needs you to fix him.

*edited to add - sorry if I overlooked anyone else's Teagan ff.  I've read Melca's, so her name came to mind.

My guideline for naming is long last name, short first name and vice versa. My fem!Hawke's name, for instance, is 3/4 syllables (depending on pronunciation) because 'Hawke' is only one. And if it's a dwarf/elf name I'm using a generator but finding a lot of options and picking one that I like, not just picking the first one that comes out.
