@ Lady Jess - Good to see that WoW hasn't completely swallowed you up.  I've been playing again too, but I want a mod that removes other players from my game!  And the quests feel like chores.  And you're kidding!  You can't name a pet after Alistair?

And speaking of ...

Alistair is still fascinated by Penelope Aeducan, but she still doesn't notice he exists.

It will likely swallow me up next Tuesday;) I couldn't name my upcoming Worgen priest Morrigan either...grrrr. And after a month of play, school starts for me so that'll swallow me up too!

Prompt: In a perfect world we would have never met…

It was two days after the victory at Ostagar that Duncan was able to track down Alistair, he found him seated and moodily tucking into a bowl of porridge he had obviously collected from the troops’ mess on one of the rampart overhangs.

“I heard,” Said Duncan, “That the tower of Ishael was no pushover…”

“Dun… Oh thank the Maker,” said Alistair standing and almost dropping the porridge bowl, “I did… but…”

“Things are a bit chaotic…” said Duncan. “I spoke to Neria Surana…” He said looking at Alistair’s black eye… “She told me…”

“I apologised.” Alistair cut in. “It was an in the heat of the moment… Kind of thing…” He concluded lamely.

Duncan cleared his throat, “In any event… The King wishes to see you…”

“Cailan? Me?...”

“Indeed,” Replied Duncan.

“Why? Why now?”

“I think I will allow him to explain.”

Alistair sighed, “Very well, guess we shouldn’t keep His Majesty waiting… He might throw a tantrum otherwise and start chucking his toys from his pram…” He set aside the porridge bowl with an expression of regret.

While they were walking towards the Royal tent Duncan said to Alistair, “All things considered Neria and you demonstrated considerable skill in dealing with the unexpected…”

“Thank you” said Alistair recognising this as high praise coming from Duncan. “Do you…”

“As I said.”

Alistair sighed, shaking his head. Delighted though he was to find Duncan alive and well he had a bad feeling about this sudden summons.

This was not dispelled when upon entering the tent he was accosted by an enthusiastic Cailan shouting “Little brother!” and clapping him on the back.

Alistair turned to Duncan with a look of surprise but Duncan’s face was blank.

“Please sit down!” Alistair took the seat Cailan gestured him towards in front of the solid mahogany table. Cailan who was wearing a dark blue velvet suit with gold trim that really favoured his eyes sat opposite. Alistair felt shabby in comparison in his cheap iron armour.

“Tell me how it went in the tower, I understand you and the other warden, that rather attractive mage… Umm…”

“Neria, Your Majesty” interjected Duncan smoothly.

“Neria, that’s right… Encountered more opposition than expected, do tell…”

Embarrassed by the unexpected attention Alistair began a halting narrative of their progress through the tower. He soon noticed that Cailan whose hands were clasped in front of his face did not appear to be paying any real attention. So eventually he just stopped half-way through and then said:

“And so we lit the torch as commanded…”

“Well, that’s, that’s marvellous…” Said Cailan, “And I guess that black eye…”

“Neria gave it to me after I tried to kiss her when word came of our victory.” Said Alistair hurriedly, he might as well get that information out of the way.

Cailan paused awkwardly, “Anyway… Well done to the both of you… Now…”

Cailan looked at Duncan who shrugged, “Do you not see the remarkable resemblance between us, Duncan? I think Alistair here is a Theirin through and through…”

Duncan’s eyes flicked between the two, “The resemblance is extraordinary, Your Majesty.” He said carefully.

“Well, there you are, little brother,” Alistair was beginning to hate that phrase, “that’s what gave me this idea…”

“Idea?”

“Yes, I have to depart soon to Orlais for… Well, reasons of state, you know, kingly stuff… And uhum…” Cailan cleared his throat. “I would rather that certain persons not be aware of my absence… Such as general Loghain, for example, you do know that I’m married to his daughter, Anora, right?”

“Ah…” Said Alistair, he had no idea where this was going.

“So you see, Alistair,” Said Cailan leaning towards him and looking at him earnestly, “I thought I could pretend to be you, with better armour, of course, and depart with Duncan and that little mage…as if I were a Grey Warden to report to the Warden Commander in Orlais… Isn’t that right, Duncan?”

“Yes, I do have to report to the Warden Commander in the next few days, Your Majesty…”

“Except that once we cross the frontier, I’ll go and, ummm, do my stuff and Duncan and…”

“Neria, Sire”

“Will report to the Commander of the Grey.”

“Right…” Said Alistair, his eyes narrowing.

“In the meantime…” Added Cailan, Alistair was aware that he was being prompted but was so thunderstruck by what was being proposed that he was unable to rise to it. “You Alistair, will stay here and pretend to be me… Of course, I’ll have to cut my hair which is a bit of a bugger because the ladies really like running their fingers through my long hair, but anyway, I can say something like it was a gift to Andraste in thanks for granting me this victory… I’m sure Andraste would appreciate it anyway, ha-ha.”

“But…” Said Alistair.

“Your Majesty, I think Alistair is trying to say that he was brought up as a Templar and has no knowledge of how Your Majesty lives or comports himself…” Duncan helpfully interjected.

“Of course, that’s where Petal, or is it Petunia, no definitely Petal, comes in…” Cailan, got up and strode
purposefully to the door of the tent and then wolf-whistled. In the meantime, Alistair stared despondently at Duncan who looked away.

“Ah, here she is, Petu…, I mean Petal herself.” Cailan ushered in a rather handsome tall woman with sharp features and strictly pulled back hair. “Now, Petal, darling…” And Cailan caught the woman’s hand and ran his lips over it. “Petal was one of my first… Well Petal, this is my little brother Alistair, say ‘hello’ my dear…”

“Hello” said Petal pursing her lips and looking at Alistair as if he were something distasteful like a cockroach… She immediately reminded Alistair of sister Rosewater at the Chantry who used to pull him out of class by the ear when he so much as made a joke.

“Now,” said Cailan, grinning widely, “I’ll go discuss our travel plans with Duncan while Petal and Alistair get to know each other.”

“F***** a******” Said Petal as soon as Cailan had waltzed out.

Alistair let his head drop onto the solid table, I am so screwed…

@Maria - That was great!  But it ended too soon!  I wanted to see more!  I would love to see Alistair impersonating Cailan.

Wow! I never thought I'd see the day!!!!! I don't mind at all. My mage was to pissed and hurt about Alistair to romance Loghain though. She also wound up murder knifing Morrigan.

@cme, my mage was pissed and hurt, too, but ended up doing the US.  Alistair was married off to Anora in that game.

I have vowed to never marry Alistair to Anora, so Alistair gets exiled. Unhardened, hardened wasn't emotional enough for me.

That game was supposed to be a Wardens ending, but my character again took on a life of her own and went her own way. She married him off to Anora because he pissed her off, and hurt her so much so she retaliated. She also did the US just to give Alistair additional grief. There were almost no depths to which she wouldn't go to get him back she was so hurt...and mad.



Was quite a bizarre game.

Heh, you and me both.  LOL  That's not really a Warden, I'm just playing around with a morph I made to resemble my story character.

Anyway, don't want to derail.  Just had to laugh at the irony.  There are more kissy shots on the Loghain thread.

Edited to add... My absolute favorite Loghain screen (thus far) is Addai's fanfiction one. I can totally hear him saying that - it's freakin' priceless.

And every time someone post a picture with a Loghain headmorph in a romantic/sex scene where Alistair is supposed to be, I die inside a little more. Barf.

Ah!  Whew.  I was afraid you were thanking me sarcastically for being horrified at your screenshot.  

@Schratty - I remember seeing your Loghain somewhere and he was pretty hot.  If I ever wanted to rp a Loghain romance, I'd probably want him.  But at this point, I kinda like him looking like he does.  I'd be confused by a hunky Loghain.

I have your Cullen in my game though!  I'm all set for my next Cullen romance playthrough.

Maria, that was hilarious! I love your take on Cailan. You should write something about the part when Alistair gets to Denerim and he's supposed to fool Anora that he's Cailan, since you do a great shrewish Anora.



I always get thrown by the Alistair mods with Cailan's hair. I know Alistair's default hairstyle is anachronistic, but with Cailan's hair, he just looks too much like Cailan.
