I think it's because it's just easier to have the Warden (or Orlesian Warden) dealing with it than having Alistair and Loghain both being possible companions based on whether they did the ritual or not. Loghain's in Orlais so that might be complicated and it you're playing as a male character who did the ritual yourself then would either one of them need to bet here? Not to mention if you didn't do the ritual and Alistair or Loghain are dead or if you're an Orlesian and they're dead by default. For a $7 DLC, I can see why they wouldn't put in the effort. It would make it feel more personalized and more RP-compatible, though.

Yeah I know,they have their reasons but its just so disappointing.Im done complaining about it though.

Lots of us had game choices murfed. GW Alistair being one of those. So get over yourself.

Grey Warden Alistair and Awakening leaves a very bitter taste for me. I was planning on making a mage which would romance him, leave him unhardened and not make him king and kill Loghain for once.



Of course, finding out that he only appears as king in Awakening threw that decision out of the window, and I would prefer that my choices not be butchered as more as they are but anyway, moving on.



How does one justify placing unhardened Alistair on the throne alone ( no Anora or Cousland marriage) though? Hardened one I can get, since he wants it by the time you free Anora, but unhardened?



Sure you can say that you don't want Anora to take the throne, but that's not really doing your friend a favor you know. That said on my very first playthrough I did want him to marry Anora. I figured I could give him a nice wife who would handle leading the Kingdom and he would to live the life he never did live as a king. ( though THAT idea went well ).

That bothers me.  Actually, it bothers me to place an unhardened Alistair on the throne whether beside the PC or Anora.  I just feel bad for him in that situation.  He's desperately trapped in a situation he doesn't want to be in, and feels he shouldn't be in.  It's better if he's married to a PC who loves him, but still, it seems cruel to me.

Yes, it's definitely better if he's not alone, and better if it's the PC and not Anora, even if they're not in love.  But he's still living a life he doesn't want, that he asked the PC not to force him into.  :/  That would have been another good spot for an opportunity to harden him.

I don't know....I'm really hoping so. If they are done with Origins I think it would be smart. Might keep people in the DA universe.
