So, the Golems DLC.... Does it have new areas? I'm not particularly interested in a battle with almost no plot, especially without the companions, but I'm thinking of buying it just for whatever new areas it might add to the toolset. Anything interesting there?

There are a couple of new areas, I think, but there's nothing particularly exciting or distinctly different from what Origins and Awakening offer in terms of deep roads scenery. Darkened tunnels filled with lopsided dwarven buildings. Oh. Apparently it doesn't even do that. Double urgh, then.

It's also terrible, and phenominally dull. Your party is utterly useless, and lacks an adequate healer. Several times, my imported level 25 elven rogue ended up fighting a room full of golems (and the final boss, as it happens) by herself, with everyone else being obliterated in seconds. Though perhaps 'fighting' isn't technically accurate, as it generally consisted of the following:

One golem would use their knockback punch.
Another would then run across the room and use their boulder toss.
Repeat until death.

[Edit] Blast, now I have to fish up an Alistair picture. Uh. Hmm.

Image IPB

That'll have to do. I'm unprepared for such responsibility :?

 very pretty.
Also, good grades, social life, and enough sleep - pick two.

I never settle, I'll have all three and gaming too. Frankly, I don't give a rats behind about a social life since I moved away from my awesome friends in AK a few years ago, but the Army kinda forces that on you as a spouse, school starts next month and I'm confident I'll get good grades. :wizard: And I always get good sleep. I'm just really really good at routines...lol

So no new areas, then.... That's too bad. I was hoping to add some new scenery to the toolset. That means that I have no reason to buy it especially now that what I'd heard about it is confirmed by you and Giggles. Thanks for the info, guys.

Getting golem slapped for an hour is not fun.

Plus you help House Dace of all things. BLAH.

Right Sarah?

The only good thing I got out of golems was the unlocked items, but really, I probably could make something just as good in the toolset. So yeah, not worth it. Yet it doesn't build the kind of rage in me that Witch Hunt does.

The DLC for Origins is nowhere near as good as ME.

The only way that could have been worse would be if you were helping House Gavorn. Image IPB

Soldier's Keep and Shale are awesome though (RtO with Loghain and Wynne is somewhat awesome).
Shale > Zaeed.

But other than those two, yea Origin DLCs leave much to be desired.

Bring Down the Sky, Overlord, and Lair of the Shadow Broker are far better than anything in Dragon Age.
Have to agree with here though Zaeed is cool, but Shale Rocks!

If you can do it in a way that can be pinned on some dissident house, then by all means.

Good I will put a House Dace Dagger in his spine then.
Why Bhelen uses someone so scuzzy I have no idea, honestly get a better salesman!

Going on a wild goose chase to help a member of House Gavorn find his mentally unstable brother helps Bhelen?

I am sure he'll find some way to benefit from it....
I haven't played the DLC yet, so I have no idea what everyone's talking about.

Its lame and pathetic as hell.

Arcturus should not even deign it with his presence.

I got it for free, so might as well.
But if it's really stupid, I won't even bother coming up with an RPing reason for Arcturus to be there. I'll just say it was a bad dream. He'd much rather co-rule a country than do useless things.

Its like every bad horror survival film.
With golems punches.

Dont even try to beat it unless you are an Arcane Warrior or have LOTS of health pots.

I did it with my Arcane Warrior/Spirit Healer and it was STILL frustrating and painful. And I dislike giant puzzles that try to pass for content.

Bad dream definitely sums up Golems.

Giggles - I never got any of the ME1 dlcs, but I've gotten all the DLCs for ME2, and they are vastly superior, especially Lair of the Shadow Broker.

I dont like most dwarves.
Outside of Bhelen, Kardol, Sigrun, Oghren, and Dagna.

The rest are well lame.

Bring down the sky was the best.

Really brought out my darkside, since my canon is a colonial/war hero.

So is the Drunkenstair ending going to come after a failed romance? Or will she stay away from Alistair.

Bera's going to romance him so he's in love when he leaves.  Then she's going to romance Zev and run around Fereldan with him and Loghain, doing all the DLC and side quests before heading off to kill the AD.  It's going to be a fun run!
