I've been reading this thread and enjoying it. I usually like dark haired men, ie Kaidan Alenko, but I love Alistair. I love DAO and the way Bioware's writers developed Alistair. I always play as HNF so I always get Alistair in the end, but I may try playing as one of the other specializations just to understand it. I always play as warrior because that's my personality. I like to kill from up close and personal. Anyway, I've played through the game six times and every time I gush when Alistair gives my warden the rose. I also play through the first part of Awakening so I can see Alistair again and think that Bioware needs to come up with a second DAO game. Alistair and the Warden can go to Tevinter and find a cure for the calling and appease us who really think that Awakening is disjointed. Anyway, I'm looking for an excellent Alistair wallpaper for my laptops in HD if possible. Anyone know where I can get one and does anyone know if the Alistair kiss in Awakening has been modded by someone. I couldn't find a mod and the kiss, after DAO, is damned chaste and definitely not something that Alistair would do.

Welcome, and it's nice to have another person who plays a warrior around! Personally, I thought the kiss was in character. He always has something to say about public displays of affection, and he is the king, after all. I haven't heard of such a mod, but if it exosts, you'll probably find it on Nexus.

KoP still thinking about the prompt... It's challenging because it's pretty closed, you know the two characters and where they have to be, whereas the other prompts are wide open... I think we'll all benefit from both kinds.



Sevlar, welcome, I so agree with you re Alistair, I've tried the other romances but for me, nothing like his. If someone comes up with wallpaper, I'd also like to know... My current computer wallpaper is one of my fraps pics of Ali and this character kissing and it's pretty enough. Someone also ought to design an Ali wallpaper for Mozilla...

@Maria13 and Sevlar: Isn't it funny how you might make up your mind before you start an new PC that this time you really really are goint to romance Zevran (not just that little Snack you can have with him whil romancing Ali) and then the moment you hear him speak in Ostagar you so know that it wont happen. Ali has the heart of my PC characters.
Although in my playthrough as FNH I flirted with Bann Teagan a lot and since then he's a close second. I wish i  could romance him, especially after what Alistair did to my FNH after she speard Loghain and had him marry Anora for political reasons. That look ... I sens a very twisted Alistair/Teagan/Cousland FF coming

@Sevalaricgirl - You should really try the other origins. If you harden Alistair (feel free to ask if you don't know how to do that) you can remain his mistress despite your race, you just can't marry him. I learned so much about the lore by playing the other origins. Things just all fell into place, so to speak.

@Ichiko - Don't I know it! I've tried to do the full romance thing with Zev several times, but just can't resist SV's voice.

@Tigress: Yes, his Voice totally sold it for me (as did my husband's voice, when we first met:wub:) and the bodily features the devs gave him ... (I always smile when reading smutty fanfic about how most writer describe him as rather well equiped ...)

I think voices are a really underestimated part of a person's attractiveness... I was entranced by my husband's soft voice and his south Wales accent...

As to well equipped... Guilty as charged, but, hey! If you are going to create a fantasy dreamboat you might as well not skimp on the details... I think Aimo started that particular trend, anyway, and even Leliana in game says something about his athletic build and fitness...

Ah, I can't be anything but HN. It just isn't me. I tried Dalish elf but it just wasn't me. I also agree with the comment about Alistair's body and voice acting, yummy.

Eh. I can play every origin except dwarves.

That said I have a height complex so that's probably why. I'm annoyed enough playing a elf that has to look up to every human. (Can't play elf males for that very reason).

Though yes I <3 the female CE and Magi elf origins. And becoming Alistair's mistress as those two origins is just too much win.

Edit: Though honestly I only played DE once. It was just so...disconnected from everything.

@sevalar: Yes, that's right. HNF is also pretty boring and the safe route, isn't it? I played a Cityelf in my first playthrough and somehow made the happy ending with both warden alive after the archdemon. I just have to start a mage the next playthrough and see how it is. But that's it for me, I don't like the dalish elfs, too and I never really was a dwarf girl, though i like Oghren very much.

Yea sign me up on the Ali-boat. I just can't romance Zev, he's just too sleazy for my tastes but he is SO much fun to have in your group (I love his banters) and he's so easy going its hard to get disapprovals from him. He's always my Fem!Warden's bff but their hearts always belong to Alistair.
Even if I have a PC break up with Al after the Landsmeet, I still won't go to any other romance (keeping the "still in love" active afterward). It would be too immersion breaking for me, as I feel it would be too soon to go fall into Zev or Leli's arms right after ending it with Alistair.
In my fic my ElfMage broke up with Alistair, but stayed his friend and ended up finding love with Teagan after the Blight.

Voices are a big thing for me, in RL as well as games. I met my husband, whom I've been married to for 11 years now, through IRC and I think I fell in love with him the first time we spoke on the phone.

As for DA, the voices are what first put me off with both Leilana and Zevran. I didn't like their accents. I've learned to like both of their characters now that I've spent months playing with them, but it was really hard to get beyond the voices.

@Sevalaricgirl - I completely understand certain race/classes not being "you" but I would suggest you at least play through all the origins (even if you don't go any further than just those opening stories). It was thrilling to put the pieces together, like what really happened to the second Aeducan sibling, who Rica was, and the kind of man Vaughn truly is.
