I have never seen that movie.
I should though.

You should. It is one of the comedy classics. Image IPB

And what the heck is with all those screwy black & white images that Dragon Age on Facebook keeps posting?

And why did Endrin have an advisor (was Harrowmount also his second?) who was so ... feeble?  I think that's the right word. And it was really sad that he would ask him to promise to keep Bhelen from the throne.  Did he not know Harrowmount at all?  There's no way the guy could have prevented Bhelen from doing anything?  He should've been given a nice, peaceful position that wouldn't require any kind of power or assertiveness.  Like teaching young children about history.

Because an advisor doesn't need to be strong. In fact an advisor that is too powerful might become a threat (something like Eamon).

And I do not think there is any evidence that Endrin actually told Harrowmont all this. We have just one letter from Endrin to Harrowmont and it doesn't talk about this. Then again, Endrin started losing his mind, senile that he is.
The reality is probably that some Deshyrs want a weak king to control and want to break the 300+ years of Aeducan domination, by pushing the poor sod Harrowmont as candidate.

Bhelen?  No way.  The eyebrow of doom is very sexy.  Bhelen is the opposite of sexy.  :P

By Dwarven standards, Bhelen is considered handsome, you hear several women saying that.

Yeah, if it weren't for his HUGE nose and my nose complex...Image IPB

While Harrowmont is largely incompetent by game standards, he was hobbled from the get-go. Bhelen had been making deals and setting things in place for years while Harrowmont had this dropped in his lap. There was simply too much ground to make up for. I feel Harrowmont gets more of a bad rap than he deserves. He may not be king material, but he have best Orzammar's best interests at heart in his years of service to the king and assembly. It's hard to watch a family friend, one that sent Gorim along with a message about the Grey Wardens in the Deep Roads just so the DN would have a chance to escape, get executed after all that.

But I would think an advisor should be smart and not feeble in his thinking.  I never saw any indication of Harrowmount's intelligence.  He just seemed like a gentle old man who was in way over his head.  And I had thought that Harrowmount says that Endrin asked him to promise to keep Bhelen from getting the throne.  Maybe that was all in my imagination, which was working overtime in Penelope Aeducan's game.

And because I have been off-topic and neglecting Alistair, here is a derp, an eyebrow, and feeling himself all in one!  :P

In addition to the fact that I agree that Endrin was probably going senile (if I'm being generous, because of poison), Harrowmont is a great compromiser and Endrin can trust him. If Endrin needs the Assembly to do something and they're being difficult, sending Harrowmont in to hammer out a compromise is a good idea.

I have two Aeducans and, canonically, one put Harrowmont on the throne (to the eternal horror of my fellow Bhelen supporters) and the other one went with Bhelen.

Because as Bhelen and codex say, Harrowmont's career is built on compromise and pleasing as many Deshyrs as possible (which does not require that much intelligence). So Harrowmont's incompetence is largely due to the Assembly, hence why I strongly support Bhelen disolving it. So he does not hold the monopoly of incompetence. Harrowmont's policies = Assembly policies.

He does say that. And he could be lying.
Or not, I wouldn't put it past Endrin. The hypocrit can't accept that his son did exactly what he did to his brother.

Feedback-answering time...uhh yeah.

Gilsa wrote...
@Merisell -- I liked the romantic tension between Alistair and the DE, that they weren't quite there with their feelings for each other. I really like the twist with Alistair knowing it was an illusion all along and he was just enjoying it while he could. And now to make his relationship with the warden not an illusion ... =p

It isn't. Part of this FF is actually what I plan to use for my main story, so the part of their uncertain emotions for each other ( Well rather Lenya because Alistair is there already ...lost, so to speak) However it's an constant up and down somehow, and a hard fight to get there in the end. Which is how I like it. Love has to be earned/deserved and doesn't come for free, you have to fight for it. Also yeah for noticing the part that Alistair already knows it's just a trick. :wizard:

Skyl4rk wrote...
Merilsell – Aww...what a sweet fill. Reading about the start of a budding relationship gives me the happies.

Oh me too. It's a change for me to write both of them somewhat in love, because right now in my main story I'm far away from it. Heh, chapter 36 and there is the beginning of mild flirtation... or rather said fascination with each other. So yeah the prompts give me the chance to indulge into more advanced topics, which is awesome for my fangirl soul, lol.

Schratty wrote...
@ Merilsell: Lenya and Alistair's interactions with each other are simply precious. Also, all my Warden's can empathize with Lenya - they loathe the Fade...Well, okay, I loathe the Fade :P

Thanks. They are endearing together and I really enjoy to write their conversations, because for a grumpy elf Lenya appears to be at first, she has a sarcastic, dry humor and that just clicks together with Alistair. That is one of the unplanned things when writing a character...I planned her to be more taciturn and grumpy, but then she decided that would be too boring and developed such a twisted, smart-ass sense of humor that includes a lot of eyerolling and groaning at others. And I hate the fade, too. Guess that shows in my FF, lol.  Thank God I can use a mod now to skip it.

tuppence95 wrote...
@Merilsell - I really enjoyed Lenya in this story and how she was still fighting her feelings for Alistair.

Thank you for enjoying my Warden I never can shut up about  Still? Well as said before in the main story this will be a hard, long fight but the closure to the turmoil will be all the sweeter. If I ever get there in my life, sigh.

Thanks Tup for the links, have filed them all now. I have totally forgotten it yesterday

Oh...and I have also an interesting prompt request to share, that I have found on DA:O Kinkmeme:

Alistair gets turned into crazy hairy dog beast thing because Morrigan got twitchy or something. PC thinks it's kind of hot and wants to do him before Morrigan changes him back.

And with that I back away slowly...quickly now.

I think we all know how that would go. Morrigan would probalby be disturbed but want nothing to do with it. Alistair would run like hell and, unless the Warden is a particularly - shall we say - determined mage, easily get away and run to Morrigan who, assuming the deed has been done, changes him back. Alistair promptly dumps the PC as he's too disturbed to even think about sex and her in the same sentence now. Damn, now I want to write that. The prompt never specified the sex actually happened...

Oh there are also many, many lovely Alistair/Morrigan Prompt requests, which is alone soo wrong enough  Here have a taste

They had a very fluffy Dark Ritual where they more or less admitted that they were in love for a long time, and Morrigan "forgot" her ring next to him the morning after. Now, not-king Alistair searches for her everywhere, and I want YOU, Anon, to describe me how their reunion goes ;)

SPIDER SEX! SPIDER SEX!
WITH ALISTAIR, IS LIKELY COMPLEX
CAN SHE KISS? WITH HER MANDIBLES!
IT'S UP TO YOU, DEAR ANON.

LOOK OOOOOUT HERE COMES SOME SPIDER SEX!

I lol'd. Much.

Dark ritual gang bang. To make sure Morrigan's ritual works and she reaally gets preggo, she gets f***** by M!Warden, Alistair and Riordan... repeatedly.

That's nothing. I saw someone mention a Alistair/Garrus story. I LOL'd and thought "I bet it's funny!"

It's not. I'm also pretty certain that I have condemned my soul to enternal damnation just by reading it.

@Sarah Also, I second the request that you write your version of the prompt. It can only be fantastic.

There's one more place, too....if you and Alistair are alone and kiss, it sounds like his line beforehand is read by someone else
