Alistair may be taking a nap in the background, the lazy sod.

Yes, this proves we're all DAO addicts! It is, in fact, the Redcliffe Chantry, asking for protection for Ser Perth. Alistair's line, "Well, can't you just tell them the Maker will watch over them? Morale is a powerful thing, you know?" (paraphrased).
@zjarcal - Who do you THINK I pick first when selecting party members? Hmmmmm? ROFL

Aha! So I was right after all.

And lol! I know what you mean. Who do you think I pick first when selecting party members? :happy:

EDIT:

*looks at above post*

I so love Cauthrien decapitation shots!

@Giggles - You are sooooo evil!

@Schratty - Ok, I'll call you sick and twisted.  But then, so am I.  The only murder-knife scene I can't handle is Dog.  That's the only one I have never done, and won't ever do.  Isn't it odd that I have more problems with killing an animal in the game than I do people.  I'm the same way with movies.  Pulp Fiction?  No problem.  The blood doesn't bother me.  But I can't stand to see an animal suffer.

Can I post non-Alistair RDT? Because Arcturus is pretty good at those.

@Giggles - This has been a very challenging game, in more ways than one. First, there's the whole Drunkistair looming over my head, getting closer by the hour as I've just finished the Urn quest and have only Orzammar and pre-LM stuff left to do.

Then, there's the game play challenge which I find myself alternately enjoying and despising. Normally, I leave Lothering and do all the DLC (Shale, Warden's Keep, and RTO) before heading to Redcliffe and the rest of the main quest line. This time, since I want to have as much play time as possible with Zevran and Loghain, I went straight to Redcliffe from Lothering. On Nightmare, with RAVAge running, the fights are extremely difficult because I'm at a much lower level than I'm used to. Combine this the fact that I am playing a purely Primal mage (something I've only done once before, on casual) and therefore having to learn a whole new set of tactics for the fighting and you can see why I say this is a most challenging run!

But, Bera is getting the hang of it and I've managed to still make it through everything with no injuries (lots of reloads on some fights to get there though) so it's all good.

@Zjarcal - Exactly! I'm sooooo weird when it comes to picking companions. I like having different combinations of party members so I can hear different banter while exploring, but I have a terrible time deciding who to take. So, my solution? Roll dice. Literally. I always have Alistair first, of course, and then roll dice to see who of the remaining companions will join me. This will only change post LM where I will run with Zev replacing Alistair since he'll be my new LI and Loghain as an always must have so I can hear some of HIS banter. But the third companion, even then, will be determined by a roll of the dice.

@Tigress:

I hear you! Selecting which companions to take on the main quests is always a headache for me.

Obviously, Leliana goes with me everywhere (and is always on the first slot), but after that I try to switch around depending on who I have never taken on a certain quest, or who I feel is more involved in that quest.

One of the good things of my last run, where I killed Wynne and Zevran, while Alistair was always left at camp since my CE hated him, was that I didn't have so many headaches selecting party members since the pool was smaller.

Have you seen my RDT shots? They don't involve Alistair.

Post away! :wizard:

Sure.  Many of us post RDTs by our pcs.  Just try to occasionally include Alistair. :)

Haha, good to know we're on the same wavelength. I've never killed Dog. Then again, I usually always play "good" characters (even Strom with all his sleeping around has a moral code of sorts). Plus, Dog is one of my favorite companions.

I'm like you Zjarcal, Leliana is always first, then a mix up afterwards. But she is always there.

KoP, I don't have many Alistiar RDT myself. My main usually gets them before he does. lol

So let's see your boy in action. Post them up!

Nope, that's not odd at all.

If I was being brutally honest, that would also apply to real life for me, but I'll shut up.

I admit, my instincts would want me to save my cat over a person, if both their lives are at stake.

What if Alistair met Duncan in the Fade...

It was cold when they went back to Ostagar. Moreover, the flames of Cailan’s funeral pyre did not do much to assist in creating any warm. He had cried, he was not ashamed of it, he did not know previously that there was so much grief inside him for the half-brother that had been virtually a stranger. He was also shocked, as was Neria, by the close physical resemblance between the two of them.

As the flames of the pyre died down, they decided to make camp for the night erecting the tents in a sheltered area. As was now an established habit, he sought comfort in Neria’s body.

"So much for Cailan," he said to Neria "But where is Duncan? Why did we not find Duncan?" And it must have been with that question at the forefront of his mind that he fell asleep.

It was a strange dream. Perhaps it was not a dream at all. Duncan stood in the snow outside the tent his silver armour glinting in the moonlight. His back was turned to Alistair as he approached. "Duncan what are you doing here?" Asked Alistair, "Why …" Duncan shook his head dourly as if to say do not ask me that.

He turned around, "Alistair…" he said with an indecisiveness that living Duncan had never shown, "I am so sorry."

"Why?" Asked Alistair.

"I did not make the right choice." Said Duncan sadly. "Cailan needed me, but so did you, and your need was greater. I did not tell you everything you should have known, and it is too late now."

For some reason Alistair thought to look behind him, it was as if the tent had suddenly became transparent, he could see himself and Neria in a close embrace on the cot.

Alistair looked at himself awhile blissfully asleep and then turned back Duncan, his mind full of doubt, "is that wrong?" He asked, "Is what we are doing wrong?"

Duncan closed his eyes and pursed his lips, shaking his head, "Love is never wrong" he paused, "and your love was, is, almost inevitable. I should have foreseen it. I should have anticipated that this would happen. For the time being, the both of you are stronger together, but later you will be weaker, love can make one vulnerable."

"What should I do?" Asked Alistair.

"There is nothing you can now do," replied Duncan, "it is too late."

"Why can't you tell me now what you did not tell me before?"

"I can, but you will forget it before dawn, it is no use… I just need to tell you that if the outcome of all this is less than ideal, it was not your fault, not yours Alistair nor Neria’s. You were both too young and inexperienced and I should have guided you both better—"

"Alistair! Alistair! What the hell are you doing?" The voice came from behind him.

"Shush," he said, "Duncan, Duncan. Please…"

"Alistair!" She grabbed his arm, "Alistair what are you doing out here? It’s freezing."

"Neria, it's Duncan, he was talking to me"

"Alistair, there is nobody there, you need to come back into the tent, or you will freeze to death."

"Neria, please… Duncan…" he said helplessly, but Duncan had gone, as if he had never been there in the first place.

"It was just a dream, Alistair, you're obsessed with the man, I know you loved him but… Even though we didn't find him, he's gone, gone… You need to accept that. Come back to bed. You should rest."

As she manhandled him back to the tent, she could hear him mumble under his breath, “Not our fault, it was not our fault, not our fault…”

Exactly!

Sorry, but I love my dog WAY more than any random stranger. Hell, I love my dog WAY more than all my family members except my mother. So yeah...

Ahem, sorry for the off topicness.

Here's Alistair trying to win Anora's heart... well, her hand at least.

The only game where I didn't always have Alistair in the first slot was my HNM who was going to exile him.  I just knew I'd have a harder time doing it if I talked to him, so he stayed at camp through most of that game.

Besides Alistair, I try to have each pc develop a different set of friends.  That way I get a nice mix.  But lately none of my pcs have liked Wynne very much, so I haven't traveled with her in awhile.  I even leave her behind for RtO.  My latest character is an elf mage who was sent to the tower so early in her life that she's been mostly brainwashed into the chantry way of thinking.  She just got to Lothering, and she doesn't trust Morrigan at all and can't handle her b*tching.  So she will be a rare exception and  will probably befriend Wynne.

@KoP - I've seen you post Alistair pictures!  :P

@Zjarcal - I think I'd be like Ripley in the first Alien when viewers end up screaming at her "Leave the cat!  Run!!!"  But she got that cat rescued.

Thanks, Schratty & Sky.  He's a great little guy.  I don't want to pull the thread more off-topic by posting more pics of him, but I've got an album here - http://social.biowar...3/albums/903325

@Maria - that was so eerily beautiful, but like Rage said, it doesn't look good for the two of them.

Maria - I like how you used the Ostagar setting as a poignant reminder of Alistair's guilt, and then having Duncan mirror the same vunerability, carrying his own guilt. Very well executed scene and quite emotionally rich.

Count me in too. Hell, I like my cats more than I like my family. When my kitties back in the states died, I was far more broken up over that than when my aunts died.

I can count on one hand people whose deaths would bother me more than the loss of an animal, and 3 of those people are dead.:mellow:

My feelings exactly. The pain I felt when my first dog died could only be compared to the loss of my father and grandmother. Aunts, uncles, cousins... bleh.

And I can also count on one hand the people whose deaths would bother me more than the loss of a pet. And two of those were my father and grandmother, so...

@Tupp:

:wub::wub::wub: @ your doggie!

EDIT:

Look, I have Alistair screenshots!

I married him to Anora on my last run. When he asked my CE "Why would you do this to me? Do you really hate me that much?" in allusion to making him king, she responded "Because I enjoy torturing you, that's why."...
