Another Bob story!  *sighs happily*

Geralt may be cool but nothing beats playing Morrowind again for me.
Starts to drool....

So...remarkable the things people do when bored...I figured out how to put Teagan's head onto his voice doppleganger in Awakenings (Garevel).

Posted Image

And got the "Alistair in Awakenings Mod" for some smoochies and extra cuddle time

Posted Image

yes...I've been left with far too much time on my hands and curiousity to see what can be done with it

Syl, that's Teagan's voice? I always thought it was Murdock.

And I use the Leliana in Awakening. It's kind of nice seeing the familiar face in the Keep.

*pops head in to show off Alistair commission* I know I'm not a proper Ali fangirl anymore but he still rocks. This is from my fanfic "Beginnings" - Ali and Miranda Cousland in the bath having smexytimes by the incredibly talented Cave_Fatuam.

Varel is Murdock (And the narrator of the Expansion's opening).  Garevel is Tim Watson (Teagan).  I also have Dog, Leliana and Zevran in Awakenings too Posted Image  And it IS nice to see old familiar faces there!

I'm with Storm.  I don't like the scrunchy face.  I will sometimes do the swooping kiss, and reload to choose the option where he responds, "So I fooled you, did I?  Good to know."  Because I <3 SV's voice the way he says it.

@tuppence: me too. His voice is so sexy when he says it. <3 But i didn't know that he gives you a slightly different kiss when you choose the other line. So I have to do yet another playthrough to get it. ^_^:devil:

When I saw the Theseus NB Look posted here I had to get it too. Even Hubby said the hairy chest suits Alistair more. :)

There's a mod that adds Alistair to Awakening? Does it have any dialogue?

Yes and no.  He is just there in Vigil's keep and talks to you (his dialogue is silent because, of course they can't get SV to do his voice) and you can kiss him and have a cutscene of vanilla fun times (which has a solid white background) when you tell him, "Let me give you a tour."   Oddly enough, his presence/dialogues cover all situations, Alistair the king, the GW, Drunken Exile etc.   The only one it won't, of course, is dead Alistair.  Plus each of the LI's can also be triggered to "friends, Love, apathy" too.

@Giggles - Bob!  At least Alistair did finally figure out what was up.  I have a feeling it would have ended badly, very badly, if he hadn't.

@Miri - Thanks for sharing that great piece of art!

@Melca - That is a great shot!

And here's Alistair, apparently expelling gas as a means to boost his momentum.  Posted Image

I just dug out what I think is an interesting nugget in a conversation with Loghain.  Don't shoot me for bringing up the Fiona subject, but I'd like to hear if those who believe Fiona is Alistair's son can help me understand how Loghain's comments below fit into that theory.

PC:  How well did you know King Maric?
Loghain:  He was my friend. If he'd wanted to conquer the Fade, I would have led the charge.
PC:  Why didn't he acknowledge Alistair?
Loghain:  He nearly did.  Maric was never one to avoid his duty, and given his preference he would have acknowledged his son no matter the circumstance. But he had more than his honor to think of.  It would have ruined Rowan, after all. She'd be reduced to a concubine in the eyes of our neighbors, and put Cailan's status as heir in question.  So Maric made the hard choice. Eamon offered to raise the boy, and that was that.

Why, on two counts?  Why would it have ruined Rowan since she's dead.  How could having a relationship after her death change her status as lawful wife?  And, why would it put Cailan's status as heir in question?

According to toolset, Alistair is 32 and Cailan is 25.  Now, I know the ages are whacky (the Cousland's being 40 with a 30 year-old Fergus, for example).  But wouldn't the threat to Rowan's and Cailan's status only be present if Alistair were older than Cailan?

Anywho... I'm really just curious if any mother Fiona believers have some theories that help answer these two "whys".  I really would love for Alistair's mother to be Fiona, so help me explain this away!  LOL

Ferelden is not a hereditary monarchy. The Landsmeet and the titles (bann, arl, teyrn) are remains of the barbarian culture the country has been founded upon. So even a younger brother could have been a threat to Cailan's rule, not very likely but possible.

There are contradictions all over the game as well. Alistair says his father died before his mother, (and Maric went missing only 5 years ago by timeline). Also the Couslands fought in the war with Orlais so they can't be only 40, that would put them at kids during the war (about the age of Teagan).

When I find weirdness like this I just ignore it and enjoy the game without thinking overhard on stuff.

In fact, I think Alistair would have had a much better life in the care of Teagan or the Couslands. At least he would have been loved. *not a big Eamon fan here*

Dear Tigress, I think your why questions would apply equally if Alistair's mother were a befuddled servant maid...

As to why it would put a question mark over Cailan's legitimacy I can only assume because it would tend to indicate that Maric slept around and therefore Rowan might not be Cailan's mother after all... But as Sylvan says there are things in the game that do not make sense.

@Catspaw - That it does!

@Klarabella - Agreed. However, hereditary issues were much bigger back during the rebellion, so I think that heir status mattered much more at the time of Cailan's (and Alistair's) birth.

@Sylvanaerie - Again, agreed. And don't get me wrong, this doesn't detract from the game at all for me. Alistair's comment I can write off as an outright lie (though I will admit it did give me pause when I first came across it). But this stuff with Loghain is more difficult to ignore, imho.

And of course, if Fiona is NOT Alistair's mother, that means there's a third heir out there somewhere which my twisted mind can't help but wonder if they could be tied into DA2, perhaps even Hawke him/herself. (I'm sure there are tons of reasons why that can't be, which, having purposely avoided the DA2 forum, I am completely oblivious to. But, it's fun to ponder, nonetheless. LOL)
