Except there's no indication that Loghain knew who the mother was. In The Calling, Maric was taking pains to conceal it from him.

He doesn't know about Fiona... doesn't mean he doesn't know who Alistair's mother is, if she isn't it.  :P

Well you were saying he would be more eager to conceal the mother's identity if she were an Orlesian elf mage.

Yes, I have the prompt for tomorrow. I hope it will be a fun one!
@Sarah - We don't know, that's the million dollar question. By the dialog (you can see it in a quote in Sky's post above), he makes it sound as if Alistair were born while Rowan was still alive.

Right, but if he thinks that, then he really doesn't know anything about Alistair.  As I said, this can't be true.  Alistair is a decade too young to have born in Rowan's lifetime.

If we suppose that there is another bastard somewhere, one who is older, I suppose that Loghain could be mixing him up with Alistair and just be a really bad judge of age in Alistair's case... and Anora would also have to be mistaken about who Alistair is since she says Cailan knew him...and... this is just so out there that it makes no sense whatsoever.

Loghain might just not be sure that Fiona was Alistair's mum... He strikes me as a realist after all, he may have heard rumours but had difficulty crediting them... Possibly one secret Maric managed to keep from him... Aided be the unlikelihood of the conception: What his mum was a GW? Not possible... Conceived in Orzammar? You're kidding right?

I know, I don't know if I'll be able to finish this game - I miss my friend.  The worst part is when Anora is like - not so fast buddy, we need to lollup off your head.  Dexter is a jerk.

Edit:  Doing this stupid Drunkenstair game for DA2, I  don't even know if I'm going to bother to get that.   I'm so upset.  So far, not converting into a Loggy fan.

I would soooooo buy DA2 if I could come back & kill Anora, though. (& Dexter)

The strongest point against another Theirin bastard is: A unknown guy comes up and claims to be Maric's third son. How does he know? How is he going to prove it? Who's going to believe him?

Maric is dead, Duncan is dead, Fiona is an Orlesian Elven Warden Mage.

If he looks as similar as Alistair and Cailan, people might believe him.  A lot of people would likely want to believe him, if it's the only way the bloodline survives

I highly doubt that many people would be so enamored by the Theirin bloodline that they would accept the elf-blooded son of a mage as their king. There is a huge prejudice against elves and those born of elves plus mages are more likely to produce mages and everyone is terrified of them. Not to mention the mother was Orlesian. Really, if Alistair were Fiona's son (which would do well not to be made public) and some half-brother of Goldanna's showed up, I'd see him being far more likely to be welcomed onto the throne if they were desperate.

Just consider Dexter AU and not a REAL PT.

Much like how I consider Star Trek Enterprise

Besides who knows what can happen in DA2 the Drunkistair ending could be interesting to see.

Though the Loghain Redeemer ending is one of the better ones, you can just kill off Dexter if you hate him that much.

Easy. An unknown witness to his (or her. Nothing to say it has to be a male heir) birth, newly discovered letters from Maric, someone who knew about it all along but kept silent until necessary--any number of things could occur. One of those coupled with the clone-like Theirin family resemblence, and there you go.

Sure, they COULD but - again - why in the world would the people of Ferelden or even the nobles of Ferelden want to accept Fiona's child as their ruler?

I've been MIA all week thanks to Catacylsm expansion in WoW, but I look forward to seeing tomorrow's prompt and am crossing my fingers that I will have some spare time for contributions! ;)

Right after a nasty blight and Civil war.

Same reason they accept Alistair? Therin blood?
That seems to be the only point the traditionalist banns seem to be concerned about.

I'm going to enjoy telling Mori to shove her DR, then feeding Log to the AD.  Dexter will ride off into the sunset with Lel.

They wouldn't have to know. Not if the writers don't want them to. Or maybe they would. That could be the whole point. Anything is possible. We have no idea where they're going with this.

Right after a nasty blight and Civil war.

Maybe Alistair and/or Anora will have realized that Cailan being an idiot and not naming an heir in the event that he died childless (especially given that both have cause to wonder whether they can ever have children) cause the civil war and the best way to try to avoid another one is to not hope a politically nonviable bastard shows up but rather to look for an heir elsewhere. Just a thought.

And the Theirin bloodline is hardly all that the nobles care about! Did you see how easily they can be persuaded to accept Anora? The nobles are very reluctantly willing to overlook Alistair's supposed human commoner mother but it a far cry from non-nobility to Orlesian Grey Warden elf mage. The only mildly non-offensive thing on that list is Grey Warden. There is a lot of prejudice out there in Ferelden and any child of Fiona's would be  hit with three huge issues, not to mention being a bastard which is also a problem but since it was the only one Alistair seemed to have it was dealt with.

Whatever you think of Loghain, Simon Templeman does an stellar job in the LR ending.

I managed to install the toolset, the game (after 2 attempts) and even to create a override folder in the correct place, before my head exploded. I'm so proud on myself, lol.

Now I just have to manually drag the zillion Mods into the folder and then I can start...somewhat. Lol (The Modmanager is a mystery to me, really o_O I can't seem to get it work)
