Ok so here in brief is what I have been running with:

Using a six sided dice can cover almost anything:



For situations that have 6 or less:

If 6 then the die roll equals the choice.

If 4 or 5 roll again till you get that number.

If 3 or 2, divide the six sides so that depending on which number you get you get that choice:

Like for three choices: C1: 1,2 C2: 3,4 C3: 5,6. Just divide 6 by the number of choices to get your range.



When left with more choices than that I am not yet sure.



That is my basic outline so far and I will give it so more tweaking soon.

I'm amazed you didn't kill your sister/receptionist-from-hell at the party. I admire your restraint. I guess if it had been on Tuesday???????

Our Christmas party has been changed so many times, I'm not sure when it's happening.  Saturday, no, Tuesday, no, Thursday....... on and on it goes.  I need Alistair time just to keep sane!

The good news is that my daughter comes home on Tuesday!!!! Hurray!!!!!

OMG! Y'all are making Randi blush! She had no idea she'd start a following.

During character creation, I did not roll for her gender (I just can't play a male character with any enthusiasm), but her race/class/origin were all chosen by the dice. I also decided which weapon(s) to focus on, since I've played a million rogue archers and wanted to do my first stealth rogue (which has been a blast so far). Skills and attribute points I don't leave to chance because for me, this was about the story randomness, not gameplay randomness. Her appearance was somewhat based on die rolls, but not completely... ie, I wanted her lip and eyeshadow to complement each other, vs having green and purple or some other garish color combo.

If you'd like me to post the rules I've been following in the group, I will, but feel free to come up with your own or modify what I've been doing.

Tigress, I also randomed the face (already have several premade moprhs from previous playthroughs), tattoos and color since I did the character type random, but like you her skills are going to be what I know best so I can focus on the storyline. I used the hm=1, hf=2, em=3, ef=4, dm=5, and df=6. So far so...complex? Getting ready to keep up on the origin. This should be interesting to see if she hits cmess' Tamlen minimance or not. hehe

Yeah, I worked off a randomly selected preset but modified it (mainly the nose) so she was something attractive enough to endure looking at an entire game. Hair color was random and I was tickled pink when I got the red since it's my favorite color!

Ok, I'm starting over again to get my girl more random.  I didn't even think to roll for her origin.

Giggles, I use an app called Diceshaker.  It will work for 2, 3, 4, 6 & 8 choices.  If I get a dialogue with 5 choices, and I roll 6, I take that as a Roll Again.

This dice rolling thing for the game sounds like a lot of fun. After I complete my DN run, I'm so going to do this and keep a gameplay journal or something.

Ack!  I guess I lucked out with my first version of the diced character.  This one's kinda weird looking.  I rolled for race, class, origin, and then which preset to use as a base.  Then I did rolls for things like hair style, hair color, eye color, eye shadow and lipstick.  I used a d10 and mentally divided the slider bar and clicked where I thought that number would come up.

  Purple hair with yellow eyes, pink makeup and weird hair?

I got a dalish as well, Rage. Now to actually start the game.    She actually looks nice, tuppence!

Not rolling for what she is, though, she'll be a an Adopted Dalish mage...I only play AWs these days.

Thanks!  It's a little nerve racking, I'll give it that.  The good news is that the way I'm playing it, if Randi suggests they leave and changes her mind, that dialog option comes off the table for future convos.  So, once she's gone down that road and survived, I don't have to worry about losing them unless they get to -100 hostile.

@tuppence - she's actually pretty! What hair mod is that? Just part of the more hairstyles? I normally avoid anything resembling pigtails, but that's kind of cute.
