So, umm...I've finally decided to start a female character (human, mage) and from what I understand I have to harden Alistair for him to not dump my mage if he's made king at the Landsmeet?  I'm just a little confused 'coz a friend of mine mentioned that even when he was hardened, he still dumped his elven mage.  Actually, it was more like saying something about forgetting what other people would think and doing what he wants, but then when the conversation ended, the status went down to friendly.

Hi!  Welcome to the Alistair thread!  

To get Alistair to keep your PC as a mistress, you have to:

1.  Harden him after meeting Goldanna.  (The line to select will be the one that tells him that everyone is out for themselves, or something to that effect.)
2.  Do not retract your comments made above when Alistair talks to you about it the next time in camp.
3.  After the LM, look closely at all the dialog options when he comes to talk to you and choose the things relating to being King and being able to make his own rules, every time that option arises.  I think there are two or three places where you have to do this.  The first one, if I remember correctly, is easy to miss because there might even be a (Persuade) line that you'd think would work, but don't use it.

The best thing to do is hard save just before the LM, in case you miss the right dialog options after the fact.  I know I once got him to tell me he was King and could make his own decisions and then exited the convo with a -10 approval and Alistair demoted to friendly status (in effect breaking up, although the dialog didn't go that way at all).  The fix was finding that first dialog option about him being King.  

As for mods... 

First and foremost is Improved Romance Scenes - Alistair.  This will add all sorts of lovely intimate moments, including some special, non-sexual alone time and a hug.  A couple other little addons that are quite nice are Alistiair's First Night and Alistair's Kiss.  

Also, one last mod you might be interested in if you'd like to be able to be queen vs mistress is Anyone Can Marry Alistair.  This is a really simple mod that just removes the race check when you tried to persuade the LM to make him King and you his Queen.

I miss seeing my Alistair here. I'm using real Alistair in my current game since my warden will be romancing Ser Gilmore and the polygamy mod doesn't work on him, darn it.

Thank you for the nice words all! The actual artwork will be arriving in a few weeks (Aimo's in Malaysia, I'm in Florida - we are truly halfway around the world from each other!) but I got her permission to preview it here.

Sooo to catch up a bit, finally finished Awakening - got Arturo to level 35! All in all, the expanson was alright but I really didn't feel that same emotional connection with the new group, although I quickly warmed up to Anders. His banter reminded me so much of Alistair that it made me miss the goofball even more.

First playthrough I saved Amaranthine, took Justice, Anders and Velanna to battle the Mother and did not ally with the Architect.. Didn't feel like doing another runthrough so just loaded a late save and saved Vigil's Keep for the badge. Eventually would like to battle the Mother with the Architect's help but need to make sure the party I choose won't fight me because of it.

Have been beta-testing a MMO but can't disclose which one due to Non-Disclosure Agreement. Will probably pick it up when it goes live but naturally that one will have to take a back seat when DAII comes out.

Other than Christmas Eve with the folks I don't have a lot of other things planned so hopefully I'll be here a LOT more than I have been recently. Really not happy how real life manages to override my dewy fantasies of romping through Cupid's grove with a certain goofy monarch so I may have to fire up some past Origin saves to....inspire me. };-)~

EDIT:  @Lady D - you know, that was one of the things I discussed with Aimo when we were setting up the scene for the drawing. I wanted it to be more of a 'bromance-in-the-making' rather than making it 100% sexytime, which is why I wanted the drawing of Ali & Art to be fairly early in their friendship.  The wine and cheese was totally Aimo's idea. What I really lol'ed about was Ali's expression - is he looking at Arturo? Or the cheese?  XD

Thank you Reika...and I'm totally with you about missing Mister A. That's why I tried creating him as one of my bridge officers on Star Trek Online. 

Yikes...does that mean I'm codependent with a video game character?

Welcome to the Gush thread!  It's good to see a new face.  I want to second the hope that you'll keep us informed on how your mage does with Alistair!

Mage!!!  That picture is wonderful.  Aimo does such great work.  I'm so glad you shared it with us.  And it's good to see you here.  We missed you!

Reika, I'm with you in giving up WoW.  I haven't closed my account again yet, but it gets boring in there.  It's not just that there's no Alistair.  There's no characters at all that I care about.

It is good to see you, let us know which mmo it is once you can talk about it.  As far as Awakening goes, it's not that deep so your questions/worries don't even come into play.  What a shame, it could have been good, but Anders is certainly one redeeming factor!

Heh, thought I had paused my game when I took a break to come in here, but found my party all dead and  many many many darkspawn and Wild Drakes dancing all over their bodies.  Tried to get a screenshot but the game shut down.   But, in looking to see what I did manage to capture I came across a pretty rare Morrigan derp.  It's not Monday, but what the heck.....

Derp Morrigan, Ser Gilmore looking at her like she's a bug under a microscope, and Raine just letting it all wash over her.
