Yeah, but the situations were different. IF Alistair's mother is Fiona, no one knows this. Officially, he's the son of a non-mage. As long as Alistair doesn't have any other bastard children or give Morrigan's an alternative backstory, her child would have to be revealed as Morrigan's as people would demand to know who the mother is and when the child was conceived. Not to mention that the only reason that Alistair was put up to be king was because there was no one else and Alistair and Loghain both seem concerned that Morrigan's child would try to forcibly take the throne through their father. I just don't see that as very likely no matter what Morrigan might want (and I doubt she does want that). Once again, I know the game brings this up but I don't think it makes much sense.Reika wrote...
@Sarah - Considering what happened with Alistair, and that it isn't a guarantee that the kid will end up a mage, I thought it was appropriate. And while Morrigan could be cold and somewhat selfish, I'd seen her express enough concern after awhile that I know she isn't heartless.
Thank you Rage and Storm, I've actually had that scene in my head for some time.

@Sarah - Fair enough. I put it in because when you're under stressful times, the brain starts getting a little weird. And they did just finish a civil war.
But I agree, I can't envision Morrigan wanting to be that heavily involved in politics.

Reika and Sarah, that thing in the game with the OGB and Morrigan may be an homage of sorts to Morgana and Mordred from the Arturian legends.
Yeah, I was thinking about that. Morrigan always reminded me somewhat of Morgan La Fey.

A Willing Sacrifice
"Are you sure you don't mind?" Carys asked again.
She was currently laying half across Alistair's chest, her fingers idly tracing along the lines of the griffon tattoo that lay over the left side of his chest. He'd always been interested in the curving circles and lines of her own vallasin, and she encouraged him to get something that had meaning for him. Eventually, he agreed, and had asked Zevran for help, which the assassin had willingly given.
It was the tattoo that had prompted her to ask him that question again for what seemed like the hundredth time.
"Why do you keep asking?" he replied. "You know I don't."
She laid her head on his chest, the smooth skin warm against her cheek. "I feel selfish," she confessed. "I'm taking you away from everything you're ever known and I don't even know what I want to do or where to go."
"Is that what you really think?"
"Yes. All you've ever known is Ferelden, and you did everything with me to save Ferelden. And now we're leaving."
"Because you don't want to stay. I understand that, Carys." He shifted slightly beneath her, pulling her completely flush against him and rubbing her back. “Do you want to talk about it?”
She shook her head, then nodded, then sighed. “There’s just so much pain back in Ferelden. I lost everything there. We lost everything there.”
“Not everything,” he murmured. Smiling, she kissed the skin beneath her lips.
“No, not everything,” she agreed. “But first it was Tamlen and then my clan. And then the Wardens. And then it was nothing but fighting and death. And in the end…everyone else left.” There was sorrow in her voice at the last part. Maybe it was foolish, but she had thought she and the others had grown close enough that they might want to stay. But one by one, they had said their goodbyes and left for distant shores.
“There are just too many bad memories. I want to start fresh somewhere—just you and me, in a place where there are no bad memories or monsters waiting for us.
“But it means taking you away from your home and the Grey Wardens. You love them. And I don’t really have the right to ask that much of you.”
“You say it like that’s some great sacrifice,” laughed Alistair.
“Isn’t it?”
“Not really. Look at it this way: I don’t want any harm to come to Ferelden or her people. That’s part of the reason I fought, yes. But the two places I ever called home—Redcliffe and the Chantry—never felt like homes to me. They weren’t really. So what I am in giving up? Not much, especially not when staying upsets you.
“I want to be where you are—it doesn’t matter where that is. I would give up anything and everything for you. Ferelden will always be there waiting if we ever want to return, and so will the Wardens.”
He yawned. “Now go to sleep. The morning tide is early tomorrow and we don’t want to miss our ship.”
“All right.” Carys settled against him. “Are you really sure—”
“Go. To. Sleep.”

This discussion of Morrigan and the OGB makes me wonder something. I have played WH with a king who did the DR, and even a dwarf who did. But one thing I have not done yet is taken a queen into that dlc. What is the conversation between the two?
EDIT: LadyD that was beautiful.
@Rage...VERY dissapointing.
@LadyD...very sweet!

Edit: As much as I appreciate the developers for putting that DLC out there, it's solely made for the Morrigan fans, (un)fortunately.

@ Tigress. Just out ot curiosity..Were you referencing to Nathaniel Howe? If so, I'm glad I am not the only one that found him a little attractive.
Yes, I was. He's one of those characters I'd like to get to know better (which I am hoping will happen in DA2).
@Reika - Nice take on the DR. I really like how Lana chose to stay out of it, knowing her opinion would sway him.
@LadyD - Home is where the heart is, isn't it? I'm very glad Alistair has found a place to call home with Carys.

If she doesn't get the OGB, she infiltrates the Orlesian imperial court.
So she may not like it, but she can play politics if she wants to.

@Cebo: I used to be. Books 1-5 were awesome. Then...not so much. I'm a big Moiraine fan, and I use that as my handle when I can. Wasn't an option here, so I went with my backup. Also, glad you enjoyed the fill.

Will have to agree. Some of the books were a bit so-so and my favourite one so far is book 9 - mostly because of the epicness that resulted from Rand's and Nynaeve's awesomenessLadyDamodred wrote...

Sorry, not trying to diss what you like, but when compared to 1 or 5, 9 would have been better used as toilet paper. *is bitter*

@Sarah - Didn't take you bashing it at all. I actually appreciate when someone has a different take on a situation from me which makes me rethink how things are.
@KoP - True and oddly enough my Warden feels much the same way. If she knew that Anora wouldn't do anything to her and Alistair, she would've gladly hand over the throne. But the whole situation with Anora (and not just the trap at Howe's estate) just stank, so didn't trust her at all.
@Tigress - Thank you. I did the whole talk to Alistair into doing it in the game, but given a choice, that's how I would've done it.
@Rage - WH was horrifically disappointing for me. I was expecting my HNF to meet up with a woman she considered a sister and ended up calling the woman a treacherous b!tch. I was not a happy person.

It would count for more if it weren't surrounded by hundreds and hundreds of pages of nonesense. I have finished Towers of Midnight and would highly reccomend LadyD check back in if she hasn't been keeping up, though. The last few books have gotten much better.
