On a clear moonlit night
Dan sat on the log near the main camp fire looking up at the stars. It was on nights like this that he could not help but remember the tale of Alindra's Tears told to him by Leliana. She had told him that story to help express her affection towards him. He was too nervous to make the first move at that time as she was what he had always pictured as his perfect woman. He cried in her arms that night. Tears of joy that they had found each other and shared the same feeling towards one another.
He was about to wipe a tear from the corner of his eye when he noticed Leliana running towards him. As she reached him, she hopped into his lap and wrapped her arms around him. He returned the hug, and noticed her sweet giggling. Looking into her eyes, he recognized her mischievous smile.
"Just what are you giggling about?"
'Oh, nothing," she replied while stroking the back of his bald head in the way he liked that only she knew.
"Uh-huh. I know that look, Leli. What have you done."
She leaned in closer and whispered into Dan's ear, "I just won a bet. And you," she said before kissing him, "are about to enjoy the payoff."
"Really?"
"Really."
About that same time they heard Alistair in the distance cursing. They looked over towards his tent as he emerged wearing a noble style gown that Leliana had picked up in Denerim just a fews weeks before. Dan had thought it strange that Leliana had picked a dress a few sizes too big. And now he understood why. True to her taste in style, the dress had fancy embroidery and embelishments that in the moonlight glimmered and shined. The couple began laughing as Alistair approached the fire. Morrigan and Oghren were sitting on one of the other logs, and began laughing as well.
"This is not funny. It's not funny at all," protested Alistair.
"I don't know, Alistair," replied Dan, "but you weren't kidding back in Ostagar when you said you were quite fetching in a dress."
"Oh ha ha. Very funny. Did you put her up to this?" he asked pointing at Leliana.
She hugged Dan tighter while burying her head in Dan's shoulders. Giggling and occasionally sneaking a peak at the spectacle standing before them.
"Hey, Pike Twirler. You may want to do something about those legs before you wear that dress in public."
Oghren's statement caused Morrigan to laugh harder, and surprisingly fall off the log. No one had seen her laugh like this before. This flustered Alistair even more, and he turned to walk back to his tent.
"I swear I am no longer taking bets. I have had it. No more!"
As the laughter of the four remaining at the campfire began to subside, and Morrigan regained her composure, Wynne approached. She had not been near when Alistair made his appearance, and was perplexed at the four companions laughing at the fire.
"Seems like I missed out on something. What was so funny that the four of you were laughing so hard about?"
And all five people looked in the direction of Alistair's tent when they heard, "Maker's Breath! How do you get this thing off!"
Baffled, Wyne remarked, "Oh my! Just what is that young man up to now?"
The laugter resumed bringing more cussing from Alistair's tent, and a quizzical look on Wynne's face.
