I started on the xbox , too. Most games I have played were things I've watched my husband play on the xbox, but he plays pc games as well. When I saw all the mods for DA, I innocently suggested to my husband that since our pc was getting old and he couldn't play most new games on it he may want to consider getting a new computer for his games...maybe a laptop...and a copy of DA.
I'm probably opening a can of worms, but why do people even buy gaming consoles? I mean, if you have a home PC already, get one a little faster with a better video card to double as a gaming rig. I'm sure in my innocence of the gaming world I'm missing something obvious.

I completely agree with you. A gaming PC is basically like having it all in one place. You got a machine that doubles as a work tool and an entertainment center.
The problem is that due the business nature of the gaming world, some games end up being exclusive to a certain platform, so it's either get a console for them or miss out on them completely. Thankfully, there are very few console exclusives (from this generation that is, I do own a PS2 and a Gamecube) that I feel I am missing out on.
Of course, there's always the fact that certain people prefer to play with a gamepad while relaxing on a couch. Not me though.
EDIT: Have an Alistair (so I don't get accused of going off topic)
