Thanks for the replies. I really didn't know what the appeal was. And I'm a cheap bastard who won't even buy a DVD player when we could just as easily watch them on my laptop, let alone a machine just for games.

Oops. ToP.

Well, I tried for one more derp before midnight, but don't have any more, so I'll go get some sleep and leave you with 'Top of the World'

Several reviewers are asking me to write a follow-up, with the consequences of the Blight and having no Wardens in Ferelden. Now THAT would be a tragic one.

If I do that, I think LadyD should also write one with Lya as the only Warden left alive. *whistles innocently* It's her fault, y'know. LOL

I think I've been more interested in reading stories where Alistair gets figuratively tortured because all my games have been happy endings. It's interesting to see how people interpret him when it's not a happily ever after, which is rather boring after all. I actually appreciate the character more that way.

Okay, so my muse bit on the prompt and this is what came out.  I hope it does Addai and LadyD's stories justice!

I saw, thank you!  It makes me want to punch her.  :P  But then I want to punch her in game anyways, so that much stayed the same!

Nice work! It would've been fun if having the blight consume Ferelden actually was an option in the game and we could find this note in DA2.

Ha, wouldn't that be a thought.  I said I had two angles on how to do this story - the second was to go from Lady Hawke's PoV actually, writing it as if she hadn't had the chance to become the champion of Kirkwall because of the things that changed with Ferelden falling to the Blight.

I was trying to capture some of the idea that they still didn't know why exactly the Wardens were needed to combat the Blight - a sort of innocence as to the Wardens importance while remaining staunchly steadfast in "we did everything we could!".  I really can't stand the woman.  :P

I kind of laughed when Anora freaked out about the Archdemon rising from the dead. People really would have had no idea why the Wardens were truly needed if all of them (and their secrets) died at the Landsmeet.

Anora must have looked quite derpy when Archie rose from the dead to kill her dad. =]

I tossed around the idea that Morrigan might try to get through to Loghain, but decided against it. Even though he has the AD blood (apparently, since it magically reappears if he's conscripted), no one in Ferelden knows how to prepare the Joining. And I would guess that Morrigan would be more likely to get out of Dodge, head for Orlais, and try for a god baby with a nice French boy while watching Ferelden burn from afar.

Heh I laughed too. >.>

And yeah, I don't think Morrigan would stick around. She stays with the group basically because you've got a male Warden or two around, and that's where the archdemon is (sorry Alistair). Lose him/them, and I think she'd high-tail it out of there to await another chance at what she's really out for, even if she's romancing the Warden.

OMG I read your story and I LAUGHED AND LAUGHED at the idea.  (I'm terrible I know) but it was so ironic that Loghain destroyed his country by killing the last two people left alive who could solve the problem and was keeping the Orlesian Wardens from entering Ferelden.
And still she refuses to see Ferelden fell BECAUSE of her idiot father NOT the Wardens that he killed.
And yea, I agree, Morrigan's only motive was that god baby.  She would have abandoned them all if she didn't get what she wanted, in love or otherwise.  Since that is pretty much what she does in the game if you refuse her.

It rather makes me want to punch her, but yeah, chock full of irony!  I was going on the whole "Anora refuses to marry anyone who can't live up to the ideal of her father" bit, and I just imagine that she knows that her father screwed everything up at some level, but she refuses to admit it because he's her father and so spins everything in her head so that he's the hero and not the cause.  Then she has to go and blame someone else and the Wardens are the best choice.  I figure she'd be so deluded at that point that she actually believes all the nonsense about the Wardens causing the loss at Ostagar even though in game she might have wavered on that point.

Aww Mel!:( I know the feeling, the same thing has happened to me. My partner hijacked my computer for his work last week, and bought a new game yesterday. "Envisions strangling him"

I guess I'm incredibly lucky that we work in video editing, so we have a desktop computer, plus my husband and I have our own laptops.  I'd hate to have to fight him for computer time!

I"m lucky as well, tuppence, my husband and I each have our own computers, plus the laptop floating around. My computer, of course, is better than his *grin*

I still don't know how this city elf character's story is going to end.  She's not been as much of a clear-cut character as some of my others.  She's much softer, really wanted to get married in the beginning, and leans on her party members.  She's giving me trouble and I don't know how her story ends as yet.  Maybe she has to die, but I hate doing that.

Some more well deserved murder and mayhem

Right right, my thought on Morrigan was that she might try to convince Loghain that he needed to do a Joining because he's going to need Wardens.  So then she'd have another Fereldan Warden to rape.  Like I said, I abandoned the idea because she would probably realize Loghain was not open to reason and that her best chance then was in Orlais, not Ferelden.  Plus even if she could convince Loghain, no one in Ferelden knows how to do the Joining.  I am assuming here that Riordan either got the chop, too, or was kicked out of the country.

Still, I would like to be a fly on the wall for Morrigan explaining to Loghain what an epic facepalm he needed to perform.
