Question: Can I keep the difficulty on Normal through the entire DLC, then switch it up to Hard just before the fight and get the Achievement that way?

Yes that is how I got the last acheivment so fast

Well, I can get to the fight no problem. Unfortunately, I can't keep my party alive at all. Anyone have any tactics setups that work? Because I'm getting my ass kicked, and it's pissing me off.

It's amazing how much easier this fight is with a ranged warden, I'd imagine even easier if it's a healer warden, not to mention a mage one, than as melee on nightmare.

I found I had to respec my rogue to an archer as no matter what I did, my party died on the second part leaving me to solo it on nightmare. Just could not do it. You get overwhelmed. Funny enough on hard it was amazing how much easier it was to solo... I don't get it.

I think the worst part of this was that my hat and a ring didn't transfer over. I'm glad that I had about 150 stamina and 150 health potions cause the golem is rather useless.

O for those checking out achievements of folks, if you use the console in game, like I do, it won't update your characters. Mine hasn't in a while. Kinda sucks.

I tried a Ranged Warden on Hard, but my party died, and all I could do was run around like a moron until I died.

The issue isn't my Warden; it's my party. They're completely useless. They can't survive the first section of the fight.

My conclusion at this point is that if you don't transfer a higher-level character into this, you have a snowball's chance in hell of surviving even the first portion.

I'll have to see if I can bring in any of the Awakening Respec Tomes to skew the odds in my favor. One tome between 4 Party Members is ridiculous.

Wow...that last fight was...challenging on Nightmare. Props to anyone who can do it without using the gimmick (the switch). Just did it with a 2-handed warrior (Champion/Templar/Guardian, immune to flanking from a rune) and those freaking yellow/orange skeletons do absurd amounts of damage (like 100+ a hit.) I got to stage 2 without using the switch (I didn't know about it until I looked on here) but I was the only one left alive, and got zerged by skeletons.

I honestly think it wouldn't be too bad to not use the switch if you were playing a mage (and actually had significant healing/crowd control), but as anything else it's just...ouch.

The only other fight that was at all challenging was the one in the room with the green switch. 3 orange and 2 yellow golems ended up forcing me to spam potions.

Well, it's definitely beatable only with melee characters on nightmare :) check out my strategy for it on previous page, it may not work for everyone, but for me it worked after some unsuccessfull attempts, you don't need a ranger or mage char at all :)

And tactics, best option is to disable them all, you don't need them (dismiss and resummon Bronto, click on the pop-up msg saying he got new tactics slot and disable them too), because you can't set your party to drink HP potions at some % of health, you have to to drink them right after you got hit or else you will die, very quickly and for the rest, for example defense debuff abilities like Cripple, it's much more better, if you use them manually ;)

To use the switch, pull up the radial menu and then hit A. You can't just walk up to the switch and hit it--you have to pull up the menu first. At least on the 360.

FINALLY GOT IT.

Guess I don't have to play through Awakening with my 2nd Warden(my avatar).

Got lucky. Was using my first Warden again, and FINALLY was able to keep the golem alive until the second stage.

With everyone alive at the second stage, it wasn't a cake walk, but it was a lot easier.

The Golem and the Warrior died in the second stage but by the time they fell, The Harvester barely had any health left and my Warden mopped up.

1650/1650 for DAO. Woot.

Jeffry: I don't doubt that your strategy works. Unfortunately, it relies on the PC's Tactical mechanics. Those of us on the 360 can't use that tactic, because we can only control one party member at a time. And we can't waypoint party members, which your strategy seems to rely on.

I appreciate the effort, but for me, the fight is significantly harder because of the fact that I'm on the Console.

swk3000: ah, didn't know that, but nope, I don't use waypoints, it's just a lot of pausing and controlling each character individualy, so the strategy should work for consoles aswell, only once during the fight you have to sellect the whole party and order them to attack the boss (but it also could be done by clicking on each party member separately)

I noticed one thing when playing on casual (yes, I'm a wuss). I'll try it later on hard after I finish the main quest of origins again...

I noticed that the boss is so much easier after you hit his second phase. He doesn't hit nearly as hard then, and you also have some downtime to recover.

Yeah, except the skeletons can't be insta-killed and they HURT.

swk3000: I have beat it on the xbox (with my tank warden lv 35) so i'll give you some tips:

The more health your tank has, the easier the phase 2 will be. Control all your characters, keep them with good health.

The squishy golem (i know, it sounds weird) is better as a supporter, healing and throwing lightnings at the harvester.

Modify the tactics, (golem with passive stance throwing group heals and chain lightnings, all the others pure DPS and some crowd control and the tank keeping all the mobs busy).

In phase 2 modify the tactics so all attack the boss only (that way you keep running for the harvester while all the skeletons keep attacking the tank).

Basically it all depends on the tank, mine had 78 on constitution so it was a good meat bag :)

I hope this helps.

Sorry about my english xD

This was the first time I have found having more CON on my Sword and Board fighter to be more useful then having DEX. Your defense just does not seem to matter at all in the final encounter, but having a ton of HPs and all of the various aggro generating abilities up and running to keep everyone else alive seems to work well on Nightmare for a Melee warden.

IAmTheRad: On nightmare the 1st phase is the easy one and the fun begins with phase 2, when you can't insta-kill skeletons with the switch button :) and the boss level skeletons hit for the same amount of dmg as the boss does in 1st phase and you have absolutely no time to recover, you just drink every potion that is currently not on cooldown (yes, the 5 sec short cooldown) :)

My Human Noble Sword and Boarder was Tanking pretty well.

100+ Strength and close to 70 Constitution.

Basically spammed the warrior abilities while staying close to the switch. After the second phase starts, its pretty much just chasing the Harvester and hoping for the best.

I beat it on nightmare with my warrior (L35) who has half the dual wield talents and all the sword and shield talents. It was mostly luck I think.

My PC has high CON using three paragon stout runes in the armor. That definitely helped.

For phase one, like most people, I stationed the golem next to the switch and used him as support. My warrior used his dual wield talents to quickly land critical hits on the harvester to deal damage. However you should also pay attention to how many skellies are on screen. For me it was usually two white and one orange. I used the Dwarf Bros (DBs) to keep the orange skellie busy while my warden quickly killed off the white ones. I only hit the switch when my companions were on the verge of being overwhelmed. Later, I tried to time hitting the switch so that all the skellies were killed just as my warden landed the final phase one blow.

Thus when phase two started I only had one orange skellie onscreen. From previous failed attempts, I knew to ignore the skellies since they can hit you but you can only hit them 10% of the time. It's better to concentrate everything on the harvester. I switched my warden to his shield threw up shield wall and commenced wailing on the boss.

The number of orange skellies grew so I had the DBs lure some of them away while my PC continued to hit the boss. Carapace is the best skill to have here for a warrior. Basically I threw up carapace whenever there were lots of orange skellies. This made me immune to all damage for a good chunk of time while my PC dealt damage. When carapace ended I ran around like crazy drinking potions while carapace recharged. Rinse and repeat.

It took a lot of micro distracting orange skellies with the dwarves, making sure they didn't die while keeping one eye on my PC's health and everyone's abilities as they recharged.

I think it was a little cheap to basically make the orange skellies unkillable, but I prevailed in the end,

Huh...people got orange skellies on the second phase? I made sure to finish the ones that were up with the switch before finishing phase one, and on phase two I only saw 2 or 3 white skellies, which were quickly cut down, and no real threat.

Do you just end up with orange skellies in phase two if they're left over, or does the harvester actually summon orange/yellow skellies in phase two if you let him last long enough?

I know I had orange skeletons during Phase 2. Don't know why they didn't show up for you.
