As a level 33 two-handed Beserker / Reaver / Spirit Warrior, I just kept running around in phase 1 until my Massacre and Two-handed Sweep came up. Whenever my health would get low, I'd line-of-sight the Harvester with the two pillars and drink a potion. The skeletons were extremely numerous by the time I got it down, though.

Phase 2 I repeated the same trick until I took down all the skeletons and then it was a simple brawl between the head and me.

Although I suspect it would've been faster just making a default Grey Warden Mage and do it.

Considering how bad these band of misfists are, you're pretty much soloing the most of it. :P

Got a chance to do my second run through of this on a Mage.  It was a ton easier.  Challenge would be to see if this is at all doable solo, I suspect kiting around you can do it thou since it seems that quite a few folks have finished it with everyone in the group save the Warden dead and basically just do that :P

got orange skellies on the second phase? I made sure to finish the ones
that were up with the switch before finishing phase one, and on phase
two I only saw 2 or 3 white skellies, which were quickly cut down, and
no real threat.

Do you just end up with orange skellies in phase
two if they're left over, or does the harvester actually summon
orange/yellow skellies in phase two if you let him last long
enough?

I know I had orange skeletons during Phase 2. Don't know why they didn't show up for you.

Sure, but were they leftovers from Phase 1, or new?  I made sure to finish off all the Phase 1 skeletons before killing the body, so I started Phase 2 with just the head, which ran over to a pile of bodies/flesh and made some lights come down and summon a skeleton (which, as I said, it only lived long enough for 2-3 summons, all of which were white skeletons.)  I was just curious if the head would actually summon anything other than white skeletons during Phase 2, or if I just got lucky with only getting white ones (honestly, I wouldn't have minded orange ones, but the yellow ones seemed to hit particularly hard.)

I have to admit, I don't know why the "tank" is wearing heavy armor, instead of some decent massive armor.  I tried tossing him the armor my character was wearing (Sentinel Armor from Awakening) and tossing on whatever armor I had floating around in inventory, and he still got smashed.  So I just went with the whole 2-handed tank routine, making Mr. Sword and Shield kind of pointless (not that everyone else in the party didn't drop like a bag of sand as soon as any enemies looked at them.)

Other than the last fight, I don't really think it would be that hard to solo GoA...since that's what it seemed like I ended up doing most of the time anyway.

Yeah, they all died five seconds into the fight. Never stood a chance.

my first round in GoA had to use my dwarf rogue(who was a at the first half of Awakening lvl 28) so I went to amgarrak kill everything and my companions died etc. and then stuck at damn red barrier before the boss.. the up to the boss.. ugh what a nightmare I swear that I could bring it down to near the end of phase 1 but I kept getting either nuked by the boss or the skeletons(yes I know of the switch) so I had a lucky round and got to phase 2 and I died rofl... so I'm like screw this went to DOA and lvl my rogue to 34, bought the tome of respec went to GoA I respec Jerrik(for some reason he can only had 1 spec point available ranger doesn't remove) then respec Brogan to Templar/Champion/Guardian then after much whooping went to the boss Brogan ws the only one who did a ALOT he kept aggro and I kept backstabbing it until the end of phase 1 when all party members died and I solo'd it and got my damn achievement!

For part 1 I ran the party back to a corner, lured the Harvester back there, held the party in place to control them individually and did most of the damage with my main character. They still all died around halfway through the first stage, but it was better than nothing.

Basically the first stage was just a battle of attrition, and hoping I resisted his giant club thingy. For an extra challenge I decided not to use the switch to kill the Harvested Corpses. Cause I'm masochistic like that. Use potions when you have to, and use your active damage skills when possible. The DW talents are very useful (especially Endless Flurry or whatever it's called).

For the 2nd stage, keep moving until the Harvester starts chasing you, or raising a corpse (stops next to one of the piles). Once it does, hit it quickly with your most damaging attacks. If you're a Rogue immediately stealth and move to backstab position and attack. You'll usually be able to take off around 10-20% of its health with backstabs before it reacts. You'll need a bunch of health and stamina potions.

I think they spawned from the glowing lights.

I made sure to hit the switch right before Phase 1 ended, so they couldn't of been leftover unless I missed a couple that were just spawning.

Lol took me several tries but after knowing to "Prep" your self before import I must say it makes a big differance.

Bring at least two Manuals of Focus from Awakening to respec Brogan and Jerrik to something better. I didnt try but I think you can do the same to the Golem to buff its magic stat so it kheals better.

Ok depending on party Leader/Warden this is either going to be easy or ridiculously hard.

As a Mage Warden you can literaly demolish this on Nightmare (In my test run I was seeing brogan hit for 400+ damage a pop)

But anyways just prep up for the fight, make sure to have plenty of potions.

And bring in some decent gear for Jerrik a Rogue and his Brother Brogan a Warrior. Brogan was alot better with Sentinel Armor and Vigilence, and Jerrik was in full blackblade when I rolled through.

How did you get the full Blackblade set? Last I knew, the Gloves and Boots weren't properly implemented, so you couldn't get them.

Vaeliorin: They spawn in phase 2 too, I finished phase 1 without any skeleton around (2x switch) and in phase 2 tank had to face 2 orange, couple of yellow and several of white ones :))

Finshed it on normal first, then switched to nightmare for the bossfight after a reload. The solution is simple really just respec the dual wielding rogue into an archer once you get the bow in one of the chests or off one of the earlier oponents. Abuse accuracy to the max and you will tear through the last boss as long as you have enough potions to keep your warden tanking it. A dual wielding rogue at lvl 35 with the right build can take the damn thing on well. Also abuse the fact that whenever the room turns red you can hit a switch to get rid of all the skeletons. Keep the archer alive and out of the chunk of meats range and you should be just peachy.

That only works on the PC. I was under the impression that Last Darkness was on the 360 like I am.

Just did it on nightmare with Level 35 DW warrior.
Kept Golem & Brogan alive for the second round.
Trick seems to be to time the switch just before you kill the harvester the first time so that the second harvester spawns with no skeletons.
Then jump the harvester with all your remaining party & it should go down in less than a minute.
Hope it works for you too.

I finished on nightmare like this:

- my warder level 35 dual weapon + assassin + shadow rogue. (got all talents on this) + full blackdale + dumat's spine + vigilence long swoard.

On Brogan I used clamshell chest piece + The reaper's cudgel.

On Jerrik the supplied items.

The strategy I used was like this : Phase 1 concentrate on the Harvester. Don't pull the switch too soon. Wait to get some skeletons on you.

I used my Warden for crowd control using Pandemonium + Decoy skill.

Keep Mark of Death on the Harvester and use poisons for blades(Jerrik and Warden). I used elemental coating for this matter.

Tactics were set that every char should drink health + stamina potions if <50%. On the golem I used Group healing if <90%.

Now the tricky part is to get to Phase 2 of combat with no skeletons at all and all the party members alive ( this is doable even if the first 2-3 attempts fail).

Now in phase 2 this is vital : With my warden I used the following skills :

- Weapon coating( any nice coating).

- Weak points active.

- Mark of Death.

- Twin Strikes.

- Unending Flurry.(drink the biggest meanest stamina drought you have before this).

If you are lucky like I have, you will pin down the Harvester before being able to jump and summon skeletons. The rest just nuke him with everything you've got. Doing this will ensure a clean swift death of the Harvester in Phase 2 of the fight. The end!

From Brogan I used Carapace skill mostly in Phase 1 and also Guardian's shield can help a lot preventing a party member from certain death in some conditions. Perfect Striking might help also for nuking.

For Jerrik I used Strength of Stone skill on him quite a lot.

Hope this helps someone. I liked this DLC even if some fights are frustrating:)

Attack the harvester ONLY. Don't get distracted by other enemies. I also ignored the stuff about the harvester's current vulnerabilities, since it was still getting damaged, just maybe not as much (my main character had elemental rune weapons and the golem's flaming weapon ability was on).

I haven't read this whole thread. I deliberately played (and beat, on hard) the game without reading any hints - like using the switch! I did find all the golem upgrades.

My character was a level 34 dual-wielding rogue imported from near the end of Awakening (I deliberately did NOT de-equip other characters to improve inventory, and left the GOA characters with their default equipment). I had problems on Nightmare with the final battle, changed to Hard, after once or twice decided to ignore the other skeletons, disable party tactics (but not too much micromanaging, just attack the reaper and use healing when necessary). Then I think my 2nd or 3rd time I won. Hard, but not unreasonably so (the "green room" was arguably a bit tougher, or would have been if not for hiding!). If I'd thought to use the switch, the final fight would probably have been much easier.

For those complaining about difficulty, Bioware and the ordering screen specifically warned it was difficult. If too hard, just play on easy and you'll still finish the game. If you can't get the "Grim Reaper" achievement - and bonus item - tough, you still have the other 2. FWIW I think the "grim reaper" bonus item is not too powerful and is best as a source of gold, at least in DAO (I am aware that one can have unlimited gold without "cheating" by making potent lyrium potions, but I don't use techniques like that).

Okay, thought I'd throw my two cents in here since I just beat this.

Okay so basically im running a Sniper Rogue I've imported from Awakening. The two main skills I used quite often were "Decoy" on the Shadow Line and "Accuracy" and of course.... "Arrow of Slaying".

If your skill is high enough you should be easy hitting Harvester for 200+ with the Accuracy bonus. Secondly the Arrow of Slaying should easily do 500+ damage. Use Shadow in the middle of the skeleton groups to try to pull aggro away from your party when you can.

Also make SURE each of the party members has the Self>Health at 75%> Use Most Powerful Poltice on tactics. Going in with a TON of Greater Health Poltices is a MUST.

The only trouble I had was that my Golem died because it only heals itself through its "Group heal" ability. So make sure he uses that as often as he can. And also make SURE you have all the Golem upgrades.

Hit the red switch as soon as possible and make sure you stay near the switch on the right side of the room so you can hit it and thin the numbers of Skellys that will mob you.

As stated before if your party gets into trouble try to pull some of the aggro with your decoy.

Hope this helps someone. :)
