I continue to ask what people want for $5. Do you really think you are going to get long, deep gaming experiences? For $5 you can't get a 2 hour movie anymore. You are basically buying a longer sidequest. For $5 I expect to get something that, in DAO terms, is more than a save the refugees sidequest and closer to the Ashes of Andraste.

Your basing the quality of what you get on the price after it was made? Do you think the developers of these downloads decide the price of the download before they start making it? I suppose they do considering how many little ones we have gotten for both DA and ME2. “We have to make something quick again before the gamers get bored and switch to another game.”

Even with something that was hinted at as something substantial with the yet to be released Shadow Broker download for ME2 is going to be nothing more than a short diversion 2 or so hour quest. I was looking forward to this one when the rumors about it first popped up. To me it was an instant buy, but not anymore. I wont even look at it to consider getting it.

The point is, if they actually made a download that had any actual depth and real quality to them they could have done so much more.

Are you actually fully satisfied with all these 2 hour or less quest downloads we are getting instead of getting something that could take over 6 hours to do? Other than getting the achievements none of these recent ones (listed below) have any replay value for me at all.

Wouldn’t it be a lot better to have something that takes a little time to set up the plot of what it is supposed to be about instead of it having a plot that fills a single index card? Something so you could even get to know your companions in that quest as well. I had absolutely no interest in Jerrik, his brother or what happened to the dwarves, none at all. Why? Because I never got the chance to know them or the reasons behind the problems I‘m supposed to be the only one able to solve. it’s a quick intro and down to business. Jerrik’s pet bronto was more interesting to me than all of them put together because of this.

What if:
-The Darkspawn Chronicles had started at Ostogar then moved to Lothering before what we got when it started at in Denerim? That it included more than the one weapon reward?

-Leliana’s song actually took place in Orlais instead of reusing Denerim and as a result required a messed up retelling of her story that was different from what was told in the first place? That it included glove and boots (and maybe a helmet) to go with that armor?

-The Golems of Amgarrak had started with your Warden meeting Jerrik Dace in Orzimarr and then had to travel through the deep roads to new locations instead of again reusing 2 locations we have seen before and along the way learning more about the actual mission the dwarves were sent on and Jerrik and his brother themselves? At least we get to use our Warden for this one. To bad it’s a stand alone quest that takes place outside of the main games.

Very disappointed by this one. A big step backwards, it's the shortest DLC so far and it has a lame plot. The DLC should be getting better as we go along, not worse.

You thought the $5 DLC was to short?  Be happy that our warden was able to have more action at all.

So what, since it was $5 there's no such thing as too short? Maybe they should start making 2-minute DLCs.

Darkspawn Chronicles and Return to Ostagar weren't as good and they where $5.

Uh-huh ... and?

They're all pretty meh, but this one is my least favourite.

How?  It continues from Awakening, and it gives you a bigger challenge then "The Mother".

For the reasons in my first post.

Is it shorter then Feast Day gifts and pranks?  This is anything but a step backwards, besides, they're closing the doors on your Warden's story, so you can't expect it to go that much forward.:police:

Not counting those for obvious reasons. By backwards, I mean in terms of quality ... not sure if you were trying to make a joke or something. I stand by my reasons, very disappointing DLC.

But you've got to understand that even without considering the price, they still consider how long it's gonna be.  What did you expect?  Every DLC to be an Awakening?

Now that I've thought about it, I think the unlocking of the items is tied to the achievements. You get the Reaper's Cudgel for getting the Grim Reaper achievement, the belt for the Reaper achievement, and the necklace for finding all the golem research stuff.

Damn it!  I have to get Grim Reaper.

The necklace is going to be a fun goose chase. It'll involve combing the whole map for chests, kinda like the Fade in Broken Circle.

But with +7% melee critical, I think I can get 70-75% crit rate on an Awakening rogue, so it's worth it.

For what it is it's pretty fun. You can't expect a movie that never sets out to be the greatest movie in the world to win an oscar. It's all about what they set out to do, and what they set out to do was release a 5 dollar DLC, that allows you to continue your warden into a untold story that is set up by origins, to have an atmosphere of horror, and for it to be SUPER challenging. And on all those levels they succeeded. If you think of it like that, I'm sure you'll like it.

AND a flesh golum is VERY COOL. If you don't like the deep roads stories, then why would you expect to like this?

So it would seem that this is one of those things that people either enjoyed from their first impression or didn't.

I will say that I agree with Drago on the re-using of assets that has been prevalent in the DA DLCs. It does make me want to go back to Awakening to see if that area is indeed re-used as I did not notice it on my first playthrough. Then again I only played Awakening once.

Oddly enough while I would harp on RTO endlessly for this, this DLC at least added new things and felt kind of like a challenge pack that you would see for various games as DLC. Personally the story was an interesting continuation on Deep road lore, the new enemy types were cool and the challenges lived up to its name.

But again the re-use of in game levels is disappointing.

I do need to play through it again.  Got destroyed on Hard difficulty.

Yikes, this was a beast for me even on normal. I played on nightmare with a mage, it took me 10 tries to finally beat the DLC. This is not for those who want to play to enjoy the game, this is for those who want to get their butts handed to them repeatedly before they win.

I'm playing with a created character instead of an imported one. That's probably why my stats are lower and why I can't beat that bunch of golems. I'll just have to upload my Awakening level 33 tank, I guess.

It has nothing to do with liking or disliking the deep roads stories. It has to do with this being nothing more than a quick dungeon crawl with a couple pointless puzzles. There is no real choice that has any real meaning. Some one else pointed that out very nicely. DAO has been about hard choices. There are no choices in this DLC that make a damn bit of difference. IMO, they should have put more content into this DLC.

return to ostagar was a good one in that it went back to a particlar event in the story and gave some depth and closure (ostagar, duncan, alistair, etc.) leiliana's song was good in that it provided insight on an NPC's backstory. Stone Prisoner added an extra character and Warden's Keep added another area to explore & conquer. Golems of Amgarrak I liked because it provided me a chance to level up my characters post-Awakening.  I'd say keep it up I'm very pleased with these and what they offer especially when they add depth to a character or plot. Darkspawn Chronicles not so much.

That or include MORE stuff in the original campaign. I wouldn't mind playing a longer DA:O file.

So basically what you are saying is that you set your standards low, and since you set them low stuff like this is ok with you. The thing is that bioware makes these video trailers that make people THINK we are getting more than we do. Up till now the DLC has had hard choices to make, great story, nice additions to the armory of the game, and more. Golems DLC was a quick run through a small dungeon. That is simply all it was.

What does it matter now if your post Awakenings warden gets leveled up? If there is another LARGE DLC coming like Awakenings I can understand it, but I have heard nothing like this.

I also agree that more dlc that would fit into the main story of either DAO or DAO:A would be nice. Like wardens keep.

Personally, I enjoyed it. My lunch cost more than $5 today, so the three hours entertainment I've already got out of Amgarrak were worth it to me. I would have liked to be able to talk to Jerrik and his brother and get into the story a bit more, but I didn't mind the recycled areas. (All those lost thaigs look the same, apparently.)

What I liked most is that it was actually a challenge on Nightmare, after Awakening being way too easy. I imagine I'll have less of a hard time when I play through again with my mage some day, but for me the last fight was the toughest Dragon Age boss battle so far. Had to turn it down onto Hard and still wiped out at least half a dozen times.

The Harvester was absolutely disgusting, and I mean that as a compliment to the designers. That last shot made me jump half way out of my chair - hope we get more DLC to follow up!

After Awakening, I never thought I would see more than 2 Orange-named monsters in the same room. And I was wrong. Four of them and two yellows. Plus getting chainstunned and chain-knockdowns. Imagine having to fight four Praetorians at a time in ME2, that's what it's like.

Brutal thanks to having pretty much no decent partners. Had more trouble killing the last boss than the Mother / Archdemon.
