Hi

Does anyone know how to set preferences in the cutscene editor to automatically set new key insertion to bezier/step?

Initially it was step as default, then somehow it changed to bezier, and now it's step again.I don't really know what I did to cause that, and I would like to return it to bezier.

The "Cutscene Editor" Toolbar has a few buttons: "Snap Scrubber to Frames", "Snap Events" etc. It also has a button labelled "Curve Mode". When this button is toggled on any new keyframe you make is automatically set to Bezier type.
