Oh man, I love switching between Shale's kung fu styles. Rock Mastery has three great combat openers. The one tree I haven't really gotten much use out of is Stone Aura... does anybody really like that tree?

Stone Aura is epic. Shale is good as a melee/ranged DPS and tank only until about mid-game, or in special cases (hint: she can't be picked up and tossed by dragons) for me. But switch on her ranged DPS mode and have her stay in place and everyone else attack with bows until enemies close in, and then switch to Stone aura and melee weapons and have everyone go to town on the poor saps. With the right setup and equipment she can heal and buff faster than enemies can damage you. Throw in a Distraction-lockdown from Leliana and everything is shiny.

I had Shale with me at Redcliffe this time, and thanks to our tag team babysitting , we managed to keep everyone alive. I was extremely amused when she put Isolde right in her place...

Do it Shale! Dooooo iiiiit!

I'm using the code to get Shale right now. Very mid/late game but better than nothing I guess

Shale will be there forever though. You can get her from the very beginning next time you play. =D

I have to add my support to a Shale thread. If you thought HK-47 from KOTOR was awesome, Shale is at a whole other level.

A female stone death machine that hates birds and spouts sarcastic one-liners every five minutes? Pure stone.

Shale is quite possibly my favourite companion. (It's either her or Alistair. I find it hard to resist the puppy dog eyes) She's hilarious to have around and awesome in battle, and forging a friendship with her is one of the most rewarding NPC interactions in the game. I don't think I could ever kill her at the altar. (And not just because it would mean fighting Carridin with a party of three ...)

I'm quite liking Stone Aura on my current run - I've got a dual-wielding warrior for my main character, so having Shale just hunker down and provide bonuses for her often works quite well.

So what's people's opinions on what happened to Wilhelm? The most obvious explanation is that Shale killed him, but that never made sense to me. Caridin says that the deactivation was set to occur at the time of the master's death, but that seems to imply that the control rod was working at the time. If that were the case then Shale wouldn't have been able to kill him. Of course, it's possible that activation/deactivation work separately from control, as the warden is able to activate Shale.

he hit the kill button also giggle when does that dialogue between wynne and shale occur

also the one thing I didn't like about shale is that she doesn't have anti knockdown I think it's kinda stupid that she's 7 foot tall way over a ton and some little hurlock can knock her to the ground, anyone think about this?

P.S SHALE FTW!!!!

Have you heard the restored Oghren/Shale banters? It seems to point to Shale killing Wilhem being an accident.

The kill switch should always operate independently of other controls.  If I hit the big red button, the system needs to stop, regardless of what else may or may not be working correctly at the time.  So, it sounds like the Golem Design Review Board got this one right.

Making the death of the user the emergency stop condition, though, strikes me as an poor design requirement.  I mean, sure, it stops a general golem rampage, but it also deactivates a golem if the master dies from something else (like darkspawn) and ideally, you'd like to shut down a malfunctioning golem before it's squished anybody.

Ancestors, I can almost hear the arguments at the Critical Design Review.

It was posited in another thread that Kitty somehow interfered and either took control of Shale or caused Shale to go berserk, hoping to achieve her freedom. But she (Kitty) was foiled by Wilhelm's barrier outlasting his death.

No, I have not . I'm on console. Would you mind transcribing them, assuming they are not too long?

I like Shale. She has some of the funniest lines in the game, like the speech where she declares that you are her friend at around 90 approval. Only wish her warrior build can be improved on.

Anyways, I finished another game and looked what happened to Shale!

I love Shale. I've actually had a warden or two have a bit of a crush on her, though they'd never admit to it! XD
