What I'm looking forward to most at this moment is the trailer. If it's like Sacred Ashes, it'll be amazing.
Game-wise, I'm looking forward to see how much we can customise Hawke and how they have improved the battle system.

I wonder if it will be a cinematic or in-game type of trailer. Anyone know what the first trailer for Origins was? Was it Sacred Ashes?

sacred ashes was a very late one... i think it was done 2-3 months before the release... however, there was a cinematic trailer before it, even tough i forgot its name, it wasn't that amazing tough...

Ah I see. I was just wonderiing if we might get a glimpse of new companions. Or do they typically wait on that and release info one by one later on?

we already know bethany and varric, i guess theyll introduce a third companion in the trailer..

More lore! More exposition! I need to know what really is going on! I want more information on Arlathan, Old Gods and of course on Flemeth......

A change from party based system to solo play (The Witcher) would be welcome, but since the DnD root of High-fantasy (Crazily powerful Dragons) is strong I guess that would be difficult to manage....

I would love to see how combat has been changed for the better... I like action as long as it does not take its toll on storyline and RP.

P.S.kudos to Anarya for being sensible!

Trailer wise, I'd much prefer something akin to the Guild Wars 2 trailer that just hit. All most exclusively gameplay related, with lots of footage. Don't get me wrong I love the Sacred Ashes trailer as much as the next guy but right now we want actual gameplay and other in game goodness to analyse!

I'm excited to hear the dialogue. I hadn't played an RPG without it before DA:O (late to the party) so it was quite jarring. I got used to it, and in the end it didn't deter from my enjoyment or investment in the game and story at all (from the Lands Meet on <-- that's some of the best writing EVER). That being said, I like to hear my characters.

Loving the direction here :) too much hating on these forums.

Only legitimate concern I have is this: is a voiced, fixed protagonist there to make the player a true member of the cast, with a backstory and personality (more so than Shepard, obviously), or is Hawke there to slash dev time? That's my sole worry right now.

I'd like to see some killer minigames. Seriously, after the planet-scanning fiasco BioWare has to prove itself. I'm thinking gambling, possibly an arena/fight club-esque survival thing (think Oblivion), and Mabari racing. I'm not kidding on the last one. If we have another dog in this, we should be able to train it, regulate its diet to keep it fit and race it. Victories could earn items for your dog, for use on the track and outside. Yeah, it's a long shot, but I think KnightOfPhoenix posted it a while back and I've been stuck on the concept evet since.

Anarya, thanks so much for this thread, really. Too much needless hate flying around.

@TSamee: Planet-Scanning *cringe* Must stay positivie..Oh yeah

Can we have more options if we do "make your army" deal because in DAO it was a good idea but it should been more in depth, like what type of equipment they wore, there formations, and stuff like that.

that would be very, very cool. Unlikely, but ridiculously cool. Seeing as I'm an xbox-owner, a quest like that could give me my strategy fix for DA.

Also looking forward to the new Qunari, very cool. Still think they look like demon-people though. Question, how do you think BioWare'll be able to justify how Sten and his squad looked?

That cut off their horns, seriously they did say that. And also not all qunari have horns.

I thought cutting off your horns was some kind of rejection of the race's ideals? Sten seemed pretty into the Qun. Apparently (I misread the stickied post) the Qunari born WITHOUT horns are considered special (I though it was the horned ones), so perhaps Sten was some sort of ultra-badass, heading a squad of other badasses? In some cultures a superfluous nipple is considered a sign of a special child, I guess a hornless Qunari is the same? Also, I guess it makes sense to for a squad inside foreign territory to be hornless, must be more normal to see a six-by-three foot, bronze-skinned man holding a huge weapon than it is to see Kratos with horns walking along the road.

Looking for:

The new combat system for the consoles.

I didn't think it was a bad combat system, but I really don't like to see my character doing the attacks for me and I'm just a guy giving orders; I like to play where I feel that I'm the one that is combating, doing the attacks. That said, I hope the new system will be more action. Imagine you are a rogue and have to aim in order to hit the target! Win!

Voiced-main character.

I never accepted that even bartenders are voiced! Why the MAIN character should be voice-less? This totally broke the chance of feeling connected to my character, and every time it felt more like a puppet than a person. Also, it is what will make me to play with both male and female characters, just to see both voices.

Less quantity, more quality.

How many side quests did I do in DA:O and Awakening? I don't even know, it's too much, but how many of them do I remember? Less than 5. What I'm asking for is, please, put more focus in the side quests. In Dragon Age Origins we did a lot of simple side-quests, not really deeply-developed.

I need quality not quantity.

Ok yes, that is pretty helpful. I don't know why I didn't think of looking for the official channel. Durr.

Well, I'm not sure they really need to justify it. I mean I don't think they're going to revisit Sten's backstory in-game and as a player you are well aware of the redesign as the cause of the discrepancy. If you meet Sten again he'll probably just be leading a squad of horned Qunari and that will be that. Sten himself won't be growing horns so there's no problem there.

And I'd like to actually thank *you* guys for going 10 pages so far without any flame wars. I knew we could do it. B)

I, on the other hand, hope it's NOTHING like Sacred Ashes. First of all, we need better gameplay footage, that Game Informer video was short and didn't reveal much (not that I expected it to, at that point). Secondly, Sacred Ashes brought on much fuss in the modding community regarding the appearance of the characters in that video - Sten, Morrigan and Leliana - and I hope there is no CGI trailer this time around (if you need another reason, then consider the fact that DA2's graphics will be better than DAO's, so they say, thus there would be no need to make trailers that do not use the game engine). Regardless, the first reason, for me, is more important then the second.

The new story telling with Varric and Cassandra really have me excited.

Im thinking of the film The Usual Suspects, Varric being kinda like Verbal Kint answering the interrogaters questions. ahhh the possibilities with an awsome story telling is endless.

Like everyone else im also excited about the companions....no other company makes such awsome companions as Bioware do.

No CGI trailers? Why not? I doubt DAII graphics will be as good as SA anyway. It was Sacred Ashes that really attracted my interested. Fooled, but it certainly worked on me. Argh!  And did you check out the cinematic trailers for Mass Effect 2? Some of the companions had their own cinematic "interview" trailers. That was really cool!! Therefore, I hope the companion trailers for DAII would be done in CGI in some form!!

Well, you proved my point in your own post... But I guess we're two different types of persons, since I will always prefer not being deceived in this manner. Not that it always happens, but as you stated, it does happen, and some only really need one trailer to be hooked, regardless of whether or not that trailer actually depicts actual gameplay. As long as it's "cool"...

I forgot to add that I'm really looking forward to hearing about how Hawke's actions have an impact on the world around him right away, via the storytelling, rather than having to wait till the very end of the game for an epilogue. That will be cool!

Someone else mentioned having another useful animal companion. What would be good? I thought Dog was pretty good (I reskinned him with a mod to make him look like a rottweiler, though). Awakenings had Anders' cat, Ser Pounce A Lot, but he didn't do much except add to banter... Golems of Amgarrak had Snug the Bronto, but he was so big that he got in my way a lot. Since we're going to a completely new area, my guess is that there will be completely new animals, and we could end up with something pretty neat for a companion.

Isn't is common practice for debut trailers to be absolute eye candy? I am not expecting actual gameplay footage until 3 months before the release. Chances are very good that well see something awesome and hype worthy, but will not be in the game.

Yes this is why I am sort of expecting something more along the lines of the SA trailer, but shorter. I expect to see more gameplay later on. Obviously I'd prefer as much info as possible without being spoilerriffic but realistically I'm expecting a pretty short eye-candy trailer.

Voiced main character! I'm so excited about that and the dialogue wheel. yay.
