After 4 failed 20 minute battles with the final boss on normal difficulty, I gave up and switched to easy. Some people will say I suck at gaming, but in 100 hours of DAO and Awakenings, this is the first time I felt defeated. I don't even want to know how that last battle plays on nightmare.

The rest of the dlc was challenging, but playable. But that last boss...a tough one.

Really?

I had never played the game on anything other than casual until today. I saw that there was an achievement for beating the module on hard, so upped the difficulty and i had zero problems with the combat.

In fact, according to mygamercard.net i was the first person to unlock all the gamerpoints on the 360 version. I was so proud i took a screenshot.

Though i think that the fact that i had the day off work and for all intents and purposes live in the future (compared to those in North America) helped.

After seeing all of the help request threads for this DLC - I am just going to have to get it! Some of the pushover DLC has been disapointing. You should get friggin crushed for trying to start a DLC out of Lothering!

Well, this DLC is the first one that has genuinely given me trouble. Leliana's Song was a quick look into her past, and it wasn't exactly difficult. Darkspawn Chronicles was a quick hack and slash, and the only 'hard' part was the fight with Sten. I got it on my second try.

This one had more puzzles than any of the other DLC. Besides this, the gauntlet was the most puzzling part followed by the Fade in the broken circle part of the main quest. I haven't played Awakening yet since I'm playing Origins again.

I can manage to get the Harvester down to 50% while on NM, but the party only lasts a few minutes at best. I hate kiting, so this may be it for my Rogue archer.

But the room full of golems, chests, and switching lights has me stumped. The party dies in seconds, and will teleport to me if I try and leave them elsewhere,

LOL, all because of time zones. Good on you though!

I'm currently playing through it on nightmare, and loving it :) That's what Nightmare is supposed to be like, i.e. hard as nails. Was very disappointed with the difficulty of nightmare in awakening.

i made a new warden on NM and it was a little challenging before the harvester, but the Harvester was pretty tough. But i think it wouldn't be realy hard on a level 35 warden, Cuz than i would have been much stronger (obvious) much better equipment and have much much much more potions.

I found the last boss pretty easy to defeat. Just remember to hit the switch each time that it becomes available to destroy the skeletons and concentrate on the boss.

It's not the boss its the companion that makes it more difficult Jerrik, brogan and the golem just die quickly had to re-spec them both Brogan became a templar/champion/guardian and Jerrik ranger/legionnaire scout(for some reason it won't remove the ranger spec). Brogan made it more easier on the boss he pull aggro I turned the switch off and backstab it until second phase after that all my companions die and so I had to solo the second phase until I kill it and thank god. >:/

The end battle is very badly desinged.

Having the companions tell me about the switch would have been far better than the "Zomg stop using magic now!".

Im not using magic dip**** i dont have a mage!

You don't need to respec Jerrik, he will lose one specialization point, don't know why, just make him Master Ranger and Bard with 1 point in the 1st song and he's good to go :) The only respec you need is for Brogan, the Guardian armor buff is amazing and war cry is priceless in the 2nd phase :)

I managed to finish it on NM with a DC Rogue Archer. My fighting stats going into the last battle were:

36 Armor (Evons & Wades heavy; Corruption helm) ; 156 Defense; 191 Attack; 110.8 Dmg (ie; Farsong) per shot; 33.10 Rng Crit %; 12 AP.

For those using light armors, best of luck!

Merci.

I think that a lot of the hate for GoA is due to the Grim Reaper achievement. Though i am honestly bewildered as to how anyone is having difficulty facing the Harvester.

I had never played on Hard before yesterday, but breezed through the final battle with my level 35 Warrior. His stats were (including equipment bonuses)

Strength: 137
Dexterity: 42
Willpower: 30
Magic: 26
Cunning: 35
Constitution: 100

I didn't switch control from my Warden once. The rest of my party worked on the Harvester while i focused on the switch, attacking him when i could.

Also, i read that review from the wiki. I'm fairly certain that 35 is the level cap in Awakening. And the Harvester was in no way tougher to beat than the Archdemon or Mother.

Val, your advice is great for those who have a Level 35 Warden to face off against the thing with. For me to have one, I'd have to create the Warrior, play through Origins, play through Awakening, then give GoA a stab. Try doing the same thing with a Level 20 Orlesian Warden that GoA gives you, then come back and talk.

Well this DLC is kicking my butt on normal, don't even want to imagine what hard is like. I was finally able to download at 10pm last night. I used my Orlesian Warden at level 30 but am still having a hard time staying alive, and I only got to play for about 45 mins. I'll have another go tonight.

It is still better to respec Jerrik if you imported a Lv35 Warden.
His attribute distribution is too messed up that it is worth to lose one specialization to make it right.

How do you have such high stats?

Your stats total 370, while mine only 326 by the end of Gollums. There's certainly not 44 points lying around in tomes from Origins/Awakening. What gear are you in?

It's the second time i've seen this tonight, somebody having much higher stats than me when they should be quite even in reality, both times I've look at people's profiles and they are playing on the 360, does 360 differ to PC or something for stats.

My guess is that Val has three Paragon Stout runes in the armor; that alone accounts for +42 to Constitution.

Also, don't forget about the Legion of the Dead heraldry; that applies a RIDICULOUS +20 bonus to all attributes, and it costs less than a soverign.

Ah yes, thanks very much, that probably explains it :)

I never could be arsed with the rune making in Awakening and didn't realise the Legion of the Dead heraldry gave those stats, wish I did though.

Yeah, the Legion of the Dead heraldry has been a known issue for a long time. I'm pretty sure it's a bug...all other heraldry give +3 to all stats, yet this one gives +20? Seriously? Looks like someone just made a typo when they entered the values in for this item. Seems like a simple fix...really not sure how it's not fixed yet. Anyways, I personally avoid using this heraldry because it feels like cheating. Besides, the Cousland heraldry looks awesome on the Heartwood Shield. :)

As far as final bosses go I say the Mother put up a better fight. Sure The Harvester has you swarmed and tends to hop away but when her second form hit the rest of my party was dead and I killed her by myself on nightmare. I expected to be murdered. Instead I was doing the murdering.
