Battle of the Citadel - yeah I can buy that everyone would know Shepard won the day, killing Saren, ordering Joker to spearhead the fight against Sovereign. So battle basically seals him as the hero.

But as far as the rest of the galaxy is concerned, Shepard remains mostly dead, with some disturbing rumours that he's alive again, and even worse, he's now Cerberus's lackey. Apart from the crew onboard the Normandy and TIM, who would know or believe that paragon Shepard went through the Omega-4 relay? Destroyed the collector's base? 

What will this bode for ME3 when you're trying to recruit the rest of the galaxy into fighting the reapers?

2. Kaiden/Ash witnessed a Collector attack on Horizon and knows Shep was out to stop them.



3. A big bunch of Reapers will arrive soon, making everything else moot.

I have these visions of Shepard going on live television and blowing the lid on the whole thing, laying out all the evidence and then making it look like the whole thing was ordered and sanctioned by the council. Really paint them into a corner so they have no choice but to support him.

If it were up to me, Shepard would have initiated a galaxy-wide war long before the Reapers arrived. Nothing like a good war to speed up the rate at which technology evolves and spreads, so the entire galaxy will have Thanix Cannons, Collector Particle Beam tech and whatnot, while also becoming more able to resist those weapons and thus forcing them to create something new (more powerful!) which the Reapers would not have foreseen.



At the very least, with Sovereign and the Collectors (as well as the Shadow Broker) gone, the Reapers will have one hell of a surprise waiting for them.

At least Shep's got more proof then he did before ME2. And Anderson came up with some proof of his own in the off season. Hopefully that's enough to get the ball rolling. I'm really hoping for some Spectre squad members in ME3.

Nonsense, just numerically. Politically each faction will be more unified than before, whilst military they'll each be stronger than the previous cycles ever were.

there is the only way the councilers will beleave in shepard if four specters show up at the same time differant mission same evadents of reapers. one specter showing up mean trouble four specters showeing up means the end of the galaxy as we know it.

Nobody, to conveniently set up the fact that, once again, nobody gives two ****s about the Reapers in ME3. This is also the same reason why you can't just turn the base over to the council.

Well, I'm sure that you will go to see the Council again in the beginning of ME3 (if you saved them that is, which most people did). It'll be interesting to see their reactions.



Anyway, Shepard can prove it all. He can easily just invite the Council onboard the Normandy and go through Omega-4 again to show them the place. Or something...



I'm pretty sure the Council won't be very supportive, they never believed Shepard before.

Yeah well that's the thing you see... They'd see the collector's base and go..."so? It's a human thing. has got nothing to do with the rest of the galaxy." Sometimes when I think about it, the plot for ME2 seems quite anti-climatic compared to 1. In 1, you save the citadel, possibly the council which involves many races. In 2, suddenly, only humans matter, human-reaper or not.

Well Joker did hand Shepard something at the end of the game. Maybe that was proof of the Reapers. That could get the council moving. They just need proof in order for them to take action. Similar to Saren.

That might explain that thing Joker gave. I never thought about it.
