I've encountered the same problem in Awakening but I found out there were better items than the ones I had lost.
1. Is there an explanation why your DLC items can't port onto the GoA campaign or the Awakening expansion?

1: I would think that anything that doesn't go into Awakening wouldn't go into GoA.
2: No.

I'd think the answer to 2 would be "yes". However, I suppose it's all subjective.
