So far I've done Feros and Noveria and I can go to Virmire. I haven't picked her up yet. Question goes.

No, but when you get to Liara she's delirious. It's pretty funny.

Recruit Liara as the last mission before "Normandy lockdown". Then you will get some new conversations at the end of that mission.

Nope. Liara is required for the advancement of the plot; the only squad members that aren't required for recruitment are Garrus and Wrex I believe (not sure about the latter).

Right. You can leave Garrus OR Wrex behind, depending on who you recruit first. But Liara is essential to the advancement of the story.

I think you need liara to identify Illos from the vision. You have no way of identifying the location of the conduit without her

This.  Without Liara you cannot get the information for the Conduit from Shep's brain.  IIRC the only squaddies you can leave behind are Garrus and Wrex and it is a one or the other deal.

and sadly even if you leave Garrus or Wrex behind, ME2 will still assume you recruited both

You have piqued my curiosity. I picked her up pre-Virmire and got the hallucinations talk (as expected).

The conversations I have mentioned above in NOT the hallucinations talk, to get that you need to do the recruting mission after the Virmire mission.

Sorry if I wasn't clear - I understood your post. I'm just wondering what she says if you pick her up post-Virmire.

Funny thing I noticed while playing ME1:
If you don't recruit Wrex and wait to recruit Liara till after Virmire. At the Salarian base on Virmire, Tali is also missing (even though recruited).

Uhh, no. If you don't recruit Wrex he simply... vanishes.

He wasn't on Tuchanka. In fact he just wasn't referenced at all, even though on the character import screen from 1 to 2 he's explicitly mentioned as surviving Virmire.

Well if he wasn't on Virmire in the first place you can assume that he survived it ^_^

The point rather being that as he survived by virtue of not being there, what happened to him? Did he get blown up in Choras Den during the geth attack (Miranda mentions it being destroyed as her Citadel talk point)?
