Helen Mirren is totally Dr. Chakwas. When I was playing she really reminded me of Helen Mirren.

There's already a Garrus, and he's awesome. Since Garrus would be full CG, I don't see why Brandon Keener couldn't play him.

Also, I would kick puppies if Charlie Sheen was TIM. I hate Charlie Sheen. Granted, I'm not too fond of TIM, but.. Hilarious nepotism or no, keep Charlie Sheen away from my Mass Effect.

And Zaeed needs to be someone who can speak in a British accent. Accents are definitely not among Van Damme's skills.

I'd say Christina Hendricks for Kelly since she already has experience as a redhead secretary, but ManShep wouldn't ever romance one of his actual options if that were the case.. :P

Hehe. I've heard of 4 of those actors. Guess I'm getting old. Their faces seem to fit well though. Except for Shepherd; she should be played by Uma Thurman.

Why can't people realize that Shepard CAN NOT be in the movie?!!!

What's stoping him?

Aside from sensless whining by some people?

The Generic version won't satisfy
enough people. They go with that and more than 50% of the fan base will
see the movie as a big middle finger to the face. If they cast Shepard
as a man, then fem-shep people will hate it (Same if they cast Shep as a
woman). If they write Shepard as a paragon, Renegade fans will get
bored (and viceversa). The best they can do is maybe mention Shepard in
dialogue. I think it's in the industries' best interest to not cast a
Main character that can't satisfy the Mass Effect fan base.

And al lthe "fans" who think like that should be ignored because they are illogical emo's with a inflated sense of self-entiltement.

"My" Shep!
Possesive garbage. Shep isn't yours. The movie one isn't. It's a different continutity. Like watching someone else play ME. Deos that destroy the whole game universe for you? If so, shoot yourself and do humanity a favor.

I'd like to see Matthew Goode as a male Shepard (he played Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias in Watchmen). See pictures of him here and here.

That was the director's fault... *shudders* they never should have given it to M Night Shyamalan... though much better than that Uwe boll?  (is that his name)

My only concern is that they will try to tell too much story. Three hours are too short for the Mass Effect story I hope they don't cram too much into 2 to 3 hours.

actually it was announced Bioware will have a tremendous say in the movie and the Bioware writers will be helping and they will be using Biowares outlines and concept art.

Shepard can be in a movie after all there is a generic version of the story.

The Generic version won't satisfy enough people. They go with that and more than 50% of the fan base will see the movie as a big middle finger to the face. Eventhough your theory is somewhat logical, I don't belive that the most of the fans will validate the movie based on what decition based on the Paragon/ Renegade action of the Shepard. Instead what I belive that they will enjoy the movie as a entire package. Besides this is not the first time where a movie represent something different from the original script / story.

If we apply your logic for comic books then all the Iron Man, Batman fans should reject the latest movies because the movies represent a different version of the stories that are not in the comics. So what I think that we will have the same concept in here. Where the movie will be different from each others playthroughs but we will enjoy the movie (if it turns into a good one). The movies always have use the core story of a book, game (take Lara Croft for example) or comic and represent that in their own way (keep in mind the time limitation also).

I have to agree with thetruefreemo on this.  I am completely immersed in the ME universe and the main reason, to me at least, that they should not have Shepard in the movies is for the sake of the franchise.  The books and comics, as were mentioned, do not contain Shepard.  Not only that, but the moral choices that affect the universe in the game are never directily affected in the books and comics, either.  The reason for this is basic continuity.  The reason it works in comics is mainly for the fact that comics are convoluted as is.  There are already tons of established universes for every character, but the basics all stay the same.  Tony Stark is a womenizing alcoholic who builds armor, Spiderman is a nerdy kid living with his aunt and uncle who gets bit by a spider, etc.  All these things are established and they stay established.  The more the movies deviate from the basic truths, the more the movie or show sucks and is generally panned.  (Spiderman 2099 cartoon, anyone?  Original Captain America movie?)  Shepard does not have any of that and, in my opinion, that is what makes the games great.  It's not entitlement to feel that the Shepard you made and the universe you formed is YOUR Shepard and YOUR universe, the games are specifically designed to allow those to actually be yours.  Why?  Because you're decisions are not linear.  They change.  Comics and books are linear, you have an established story line.

There actually IS a direct cannon to the Mass Effect franchise, the only difference is the actions and consequences of the games.  There is a lot of backstory in there, which the books and comics only touch on, yet completely refrain from games.  You can read them and the actions you made are in no way affected.  Why can't this be the same way in the movies?  Why does it HAVE TO BE Shepard's story?  Again, making a comic book movie, you want the story of the comic book hero doing the things only the hero can do.  With Mass Effect, all I, personally, want is the universe.  I know MY Shepard's story.  Bioware gave me the oppourtunity to make it for myself.  It would be kind of a middle finger to have them take it back and say "sorry, you're Shepard isn't anything like the REAL Shepard."  The only reason that ME2 has defaulted choices is simply so people can play it without having to play the second one.  The pre-made choices are not "cannon", simply "default".

Also, as I stated before, it'd be best for the sake of the franchise.  Star Wars and Star Trek have an established cannon.  They have games, but they are mostly linear with the exception of the likes of KotOR, which doesn't let you transfer characters because there IS a linear story there already and they're not going to change it for their own whim.  Both those series have a direct timeline where every action leads into the next with as little contridiction as possible.  (both have some contridictions, but those are normally not intended and are a result of decades of convoluted story)  Why can't Mass Effect be the same?  Why do we NEED a retelling of the games?  There is so much more to explore there.  Granted, you have series like Battlestar Galactica with two different universes, but it has been made clear that they have NOTHING to do with each other already.  I'd rather Mass Effect just stay as one clear universe right now.  It's way too young to be making a bunch of "what-ifs".

Personally, I'd think it be better as a BSG type TV show would be best over a movie......start from the First Contact Wars and move on from there, a lot of story ground you could cover that wouldn't ruin or disappoint anyone.  Either way, I'm going to see the movie if it ever comes out, don't get me wrong.  I'll just be a little sad to see my version of Shepard have to go away because he's not the REAL Shepard.

Wow, they are all Great except for Ashely. Olivia does not have the look nor disposition. Ash is clearly a independent and very capable Yugosnovakian girl. While olivia looks too girly.

It just my opinion though, there is really no need to spread around.

Charlie can't do it... he's drunk and high at the moment. I just talked with his manager.
I also talked with Vandam... he's says that playing in a movie like this is not good enough for him and that he wouldn't be able to show his talent in full scale.

Short, Sheen is a drunkard and Vandam an idiot.

I like how they couldn't name the move "Avatar" because of Cameron's Pocahontas.

Matthew Fox will be the lead role, but he won't play Shepard. The film is set during the first contact wars - Shepard wasn't a marine then (was he even born? If he was - he would be very young).

Martin Sheen plays TIM in the game and he had made the request that the character look like him. So I don't see Charlie replacing dad any time soon.

The only problem is Martin is too old as TIM.

That's what makeup,and masks are for :)

Masks and makeup are obsloete in movies now. With the tech delveloped for Avatar and Bauwolf you can have the original VO's reprise their roles and simply CG their appearances in. Allie Hillis, LIz Szroka, Brandon Keener, Steven Barr etc. can still play Liara, Tali, Garrus, and Rex. Avatar proved this will work great for Aliens, and Bauwolf " nearly" proved it would work for human characters. In a few years this will look even better, and you'd be able to pull off a Sheploo with Meer voice over and have it look perfect.

This sounds crazy at first, but assumming Charlie can clean up his life, I bet he could do a good impression of his own father. He certainly looks like his dad when he was younger.

Also, Michelle Rodriges would be perfect for Ashly in my opinion if it wasn't for the fact that Michelle's already typecast to hell and back with these type of rolls already. Doubt she'd do it, but she's the one I think of when I think of Ashly Williams.
