I'm playing a F/M/T and picked up a time stop trap.  From the info for the spell Time Stop, on this page - Link, it indicates that "Enemy contingencies still have to
wait, giving you the chance to finish the fight before they ever trigger."

I've set Time Traps against blue enemies twice now, both Liches.  First, the one in the Crooked Crane, in the City Gates area.  Now again against the lich in the Twisted Rune area.  Both times the time stop goes off without problem, but as soon as I do damage to the liches, both of them have contingencies that fire off.

Is the quoted info about time stop not allowing contingencies accurate?  Is there something unique about liches that allows them to still fire off contingencies anyway?

Was a tad disappointed that this tactic didn't work.  Sure, I can pound on them while time is stopped, but I still have to whack through all the stone skins and/or fire shields, etc.

Contingencies are one of the most powerful thing in the game. Yes, they will fire even during time stops (but nonpersonal effects will freeze until the end of the time stop).

Actually, your first hit should be enough, because your first hit should be a BACKSTAB. During a time trap this should be easy to pull off. Alternatively, try throwing Azureedge during the time stop. The improved mace 'o destructin' works too. Even Celestial fury is worth a try. However against demi-liches only the iMoD will work.

The reason why a Kensai>Thief gets into the list of power builds, despite having no arcane power at all, is because of the two thief HLA's time trap and assassinate. A Kensai with grand mastery should be able to get 5 attacks per round, or 10 with improved haste. Assasinate makes each hit for a round into a backstab. Now extend this 6 second round with a further 10 seconds during which no-one moves and every attack hits automatically. This translates into a theoretical maximum of 16 * 10/6 = 26 backstabs. Yes its a one trick pony, and it's probably not better than sex, but you're more likely to remember it a week later.
