He does seem like he might be taller. Would not be surprised if he were, if he were an LI. Man, if he's not an LI I have trouble imagining a likelier candidate for a male dwarf romance option.

I'm not sure if we'll really ever get a dwarf romance nowadays. It's just too Squick for a lot of people. If you're a dwarf it's not bad. But a dwarf LI...Was the David Gaider "ewwww dwarves have cooties!" post fer srs?

I don't know, I'd still prefer a qunari...

I hope for his sake it wasn't or he'll have a legion of angry dwarf players after him.

not to mention it is insulting to real dwarves

Well, I don't think anyone is talking about real people with dwarfism when they talk about fantasy dwarves.

well I just don't get what would be so "ewww" in dwarves

Man just strikes me as very...shogunate, as well.

Could be his haircut, i think. That style seems to show up pretty frequently on various samurai and such.

Well....think Oghren? I mean I love him but he's pretty....gross.

I dunno. Personal preference I suppose. Some people really like them, some really don't. The people who don't probably wouldn't be into, say, a big hairy Viking or something either. Some people get hung up on having their partner be taller than they are. Though my best friend in high school was like that and she ended up marrying a guy who's much shorter than she is.

Also the belt and the open shirt for some reason.

I know quite a few people who are just generally opposed to stocky men in video games. Stocky, short men are completely out of the question. And a dwarf, at that? They'd sooner eat their own hat. I don't see the problem with potential dwarfmance, honestly, especially if said dwarf is as dreamy as Varric is showing himself to be.

They are short, stocky and hairy.

And female dwarves often look like 14 year-old girls.

That said, I wouldn't mind someday writing a dwarf-dwarf romance (which was what I originally said), but otherwise? I stand by my ewww.

After compiling my data, the consensus seems to be yes.

Thanks for the catch up Image IPB

EDIT: as a heterossexual man I find him to be totally hawt!

p.s. Is Cassandra sexy?

I saw some images of her floating around and based on appareance I have to say yes, though I think she might be a cold and though women. A challange for Varic.Image IPB

Aha that looks like a confirmation of Varric as a non-romanceable character to me. Ah well, I still think he's radsauce.

Somewhere out there poor Danny de Vito is crying bitter, salty tears...

and bah, there's nothing 14 year old about these dwarf curves.

Not exactly, just confirmation that David Gaider won't be the one writing it.

Then isn't that a problem with modeling and not the race as a whole?

True, I get the feeling Mary is writing Varric anyway. Hmmm but would he think it's so ew if it were already in the game? He'd have had some time to get used to it.

There we go dissecting your every word again, David. :P

I dunno if that means it won't be written or if Gaider simply isn't the one writing it.

edit: nevermind, I temporarily forgot how to read after reading a couple posts after what Gaider said, lol.

It doesn't mean much, the romance could be written by someone else. They are just trolling, they can't really confirm romences so early

No you're not. I think that was mentioned in a thread awhile back too. Iroh was the most awesome character in that show by far.

I am very inclined to agree with you. Uncle Iroh is the ultimate awesomeness.
