Personally, I don't think DG would outright be disgusting by a dwarf romance if one was included.

On the contrary, I only have to find a romance appealing if I'm the one writing it.

That was the original comment I was responding to, after all-- the idea that I wanted to write one. :)

Must. Not. Hope. Must smother hope. Argh, the infernal struggle continues!

Ah yes, the pre-release ritual where Mary lapoons the characters that she wrote (her babies?) for the amusement of forumites.

I hope DA2 gets delayed past spring, so that Mary continues her hilarious, yet ridiculous cameos on this forum.

Yes! Wait no. Noooo.

Hm, any plans to do another interview-style blog entry in the future like you did with Wynne and Sten and the tower guard, Mary? I enjoy things like that.

Haha I loved that, wasn't the tower guard called Walter or something? I always think of it when I replay the Tower of Ishal. Why oh why didn't they include a dialogue option at Flemmeth's place along the lines of "Alistair who? Where's Walter!?"

Plans? No. But Sheryl and I didn't so much plan the last interview as say, "Hey, wouldn't this be awesome?" And then do it for fun. I think it could happen again once some of the other characters have been revealed.

This quote will be logged and repeated to you and Sheryl over the coming months until you guys have another moment of spontaneous magic you realise? ;)

Hehe I'm just looking forward to finding out what other companions you crazy writers have in store for us this time around. Would you be able to tell us how many you wrote for DA2?

Another obvious sign of the power of Varric's manly Dwarfishness.

It's about Varric. No one can resist the call of the manly man-hair.

Edit: Ninja'd by Apollo.

Does he spend much time in the Deep Roads? Are we sure it isn't his chest hair that the Wardens are hearing?

Edit: It must be lyrium infused, and possibly possessed by a desire demon. Although I get the feeling even a desire demon would swoon after taking one look at Varric's manly man-hair.

I have to admit those would be some incredibly interesting dreams.

Deep within the caverns of the Roads, a heart beats beneath a pelt that will be known throughout the ages...

All the female writers seem to like swooning (or at least pretending to swoon) over Varric. I think David and Luke might be immune to his charms, somehow. I assume they have some sort of pact with a demon to accomplish that.

They must. There's no other explanation.

Edit: And yet Mr. Gaider did show up in this thread. Hmmm..

wait, is that the official art?

...er how old is this guy supposed to be if he does end up being romanceable? his hair is all grey/white and that's a pretty deep widow's peek...

heres hoping his hair doesn't all fall out by the end of 10 years Dx

It's cropped but yes, it's official art. It's in the "What we know" thread if you're interested.

No idea how old he is. I'm guessing this is more towards the end of that 10 year span anyway, but his hair looks brown in that other concept art. It could be partially the lighting in there. But yeah, he looks older...though a lot of ladies here seem to want an older LI.

I always wanted a protagonist that is in his 50s. I think a lot of games make you too young. Just saying...

Well it's not that I wouldn't mind an older LI, but I tend to play characters around the same age as me - earlier 20's. The thought of having an LI that's 30+ years older than me bothers me. =/ Now my own parents are 20 years apart age wise in their marriage and they've been together 28 years, and counting. I can do 20, but 30 is where I draw the line. Besides I've also had men in their 50's hit on me. Sobber. Yeah, I would really hate to make that connection with games, even if it is just an option. It's creepy! They have CHILDREN that are OLDER than me. Possibly even grandchildren (though those would not me older than me.....hopefully)!

Now that would just be awkward as well, getting your grove on with an LI only to have one of their kids pop up at the most inoppertune moment...oh and by the way they are also the same age/older than you.

I mean, more options are great, but that would definately up the creepy/weird factor for me. I couldn't do that, ever. Not even for an achievement. Ok, so maybe if he was REALLY REALLY good looking, because I'm a terrible, shallow person, but I'd have to think about it really hard.

But then there's the fact that he's a dwarf, and even the well written ones like Gorim I have a hard time taking seriously unless I play a dwarf myself. I can't really take a guy seriously as an LI if I can't see eyeball to eyeball with them. Probably from all those overly dramatic romantic films from the 40's and 50's. If a man is only 3ft tall, how can he catch you when you fall? Or carrying you off into the sunset? How will your head fit in his lap when you need to rest? How can he scale the walls to your room with the balcony when his running jump barely gets him a foot off the ground? But joking aside, it would make for more of a comedic, cute romance I think. There was a really a good anime I watched called Love*Com that delt with that issue, only the difference between the male an female was 6 inches. Outside of that I suppose I would just have to wait and see what as instore for us.

Isn't it obvious? He acts disgusted about dwarves and Varric in public until he arrives him to his own worship shrine.

What would be the problem then? Can't a man own a van, a trenchcoat and like dwarves?

Take a sticky tape, stick it on his chest, then tear it out very quickly!!
