Even when I play mostly paragon, I always end up using renegade options to get discounts in the Citadel. C'mon, running around 3-4 shops offering to endorse that every single one of them is my "favourite store in the citadel" is playing outright foul.

Word (I conccur). I only endorse the Salarian in the lower level, the one in the tech store, but only because he was nice to me. Everyone else gets harrassed!!!

We're what!? I have half a mind to shoot you in point blank range in front of two armed officers and get off scot free by just saying that your a bad person. Works every time (Bailey is such a tool).

Paragon Shep plays by the rules, and then got yelled at by Mom Shep for not calling. There goes the "I was dead!" excuse.

Renegade Shep stays dead, and then rejoins the Spectres anyway because rules are for other people. Renegade Sheps are also looking forward to finding a phrase to follow up 'disingenuous assertions.' Seriously, what is that woman on? Her insurance should stop paying for that.

When the whole damn Citadel is filled with cries of "Hi, I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite store on the Citadel!" I think it sort of shoots your chances of "going under the radar". In order to do so you'd have to do a playthrough where your identity was mentioned to the absolute minimum amount of people, plus you couldn't reassume Spectre status.
