It's happened to me a few times that when a summoned Planetar gets caught in a Meteor Swarm cast by an enemy, she gets hostile for some reason and attacks my party (which, considering the vorpal sword, is highly deadly and annoying).
This, for instance, has happened in the fight with Sendai & the Twisted Rune.
Is this a bug?

Haven't heard that. However, a non-fallen planetar will turn hostile if you ever have it fight demonic creatures. Twisted Rune building fight? There's a Glaberuzu there, and if the planetar fights it, then it will indeed go hostile.

That could explain it, since I believe in both fights I mentioned "Gate" was also cast by the enemy (though in the Twisted Rune fight, I actually had a fallen Planetar and it turned hostile as well).corey_russell wrote...

But what's the logic behind it? Planetars are supposed to be super-paladins, so should be away to waste a few pit fiends.

Not sure what the logic is. Not sure why Bioware would put that in unless it had something to do with D&D Lore about planetars but I am not familiar with that.
The next is pure speculation: perhaps demonic creatures can "turn" the planetars which are celestial beings. Or maybe Bioware didn't want the player using celestial beings in the final fight.

There isn't a D&D lore precedent for it. Planetars actually enjoy fighting fiends. As embodiments of the three good alignments they find demons and devils abhorrent. It sounds like an error somewhere to me.

What mods are you using? (Weidu.log) There might be something that changes them.
I've seen something similar if you e.g. have the Planetar cast Firestorm and it's caught in the area of effect. Even though it's completely immune it still turns hostile -- extremely annoying, but perhaps understandable given the limited AI.
However, I've also seen the Planetar turn hostile while fighting a group of Beholders (and nothing else). Aren't Planetars supposed to be immune to charm effects?

Planetars going hostile due to their own spells or due to summoned fiends is a vanilla AI script thing. In short, they're set to go hostile if they are attacked by creatures "on your side." This includes summoned fiends and themselves.
