Oh noes! Melee attacks!

Not if you're a mage, Magic Missile! Pewpewpewpew!
Don't like the decision personally, but not gamebreaking, still waiting for news on classes/specializations to see if I should buy this game or pass.

I really hope I won't be mashing the friggin X button all the time     -This worries me

The rest of the info is promising, though not completely new info, definately a better angle. Thx

I'll elaborate on the X thing:

"The decision to allow melee attacks to be activated by continually striking X is an inspired decision too, in spite of how derivative some may claim it is... the power to be responsible for each and every blow is much more satisfying."

The bit about the morality system is confusing. It sounds like they're basically saying that...there is none?

I'm guessing faction reputation? They mention civil war, maybe you get more influence with one over the other? Kind of like The Witcher, maybe?

This is a part of the article that confused me. I read through it several times and still didn't fully understand it.

Can't wait to see the game in action. Think we'll get some gameplay videos from GamesCom?

Mind sharing a few of those hints? ;)

It wasn't much, but enough to suggest that our Warden won't be completely forgotten:

X360: Will we bump into our Dragon Age: Origins character?

Mark Darrah: Because most of the game takes place in Kirkwall and the Free Marches we do get you out of the way, but you never know...

Seems like quite a strong hint to me.

If they are able to make it reactive, it could be a nice addition. And what I mean by reactive, is like in a FPS game, where you get 'bullet ping'.

First of all, who is Mike Darrah in relation to this?

Also after the events of Awakening it says the Warden just dissapears, so BioWare can pretty much make him pop up everywhere they want.

I pointedly dislike "You change the world" plots :(

NWN1. NWN2. DA:O ; All threats are global but localized by your actions. In DA2 it seems they will be globalized.....

All the info sounds great. Thanks!

I also like how our classes have an effect now too. I was sad that my Blood Mage never got talked about by the party.

they didn't say specializations will matter, only that classes, and base classes were mentioned now and then in DA1 too, as example: in the dialogue with Sten (are you male, female? a mage or warrior? ect)

also yay for Enchantment!

but why is Thedas said to be a character?

Some stories have the setting as a "character". Have you ever seen Lost in Translation? Tokyo is pretty much a main (maybe THE main) character in that movie for example.

hmm, dunno

The wording reminds me of Hetalia Axis Powers however

Hah, no. As amusing as that might be.

Interesting stuff! Mostly liking what I hear so far. I'm pretty sure there is no reason to freak out about the X button thing yet, it sounds to me like it just means combat is more fluid. I play the 360 version and if you are using a warrior you often use the quick buttons for moves in a similar fashion anyway, I'm sure this doesn't mean the combat will be Fable-like, nothing else they have said indicates anything close to it.

Really like that Thedas is the main plot point in DA, contrasts it with 'Shepard's story' from the ME franchise and frankly it's how I've always imagined DA's stories would be told. I never really expected to be playing as my Warden past the first game anyway, there is too much rich potential for telling vastly different stories in the world they have created, in my opinion.

I'm really looking forward to what interactions Hawke will have with the Grey Warden's... Seeing as he won't be one. Should be fun.

Having the classes impact more on the story sounds really promising too, would make up for not having extra races/origins in a big way. Plus it just makes sense, at least in the Mage's case, maybe the Warrior and Rogue classes will have a little bit of background behind them that makes them more distinct beyond their abilities too?

I also like how companions will be off doing their own thing when left to their own devices for too long. Always thought it was funny that depending on my playthrough Leliana/Sten/Morrigan etc. would just be sitting around twiddling their thumbs (or eating cookies in Sten's case) while the rest were off doing something interesting.

I wonder what kind of character Ferelden would be, I guess something like Germany or Sweden.

England! I don't remember what Sweden was like. Germany is too rigid I think.

Well, Ferelden is said to be harsh, barbaric, and such, that is why I thought Germany, but aslong it is nothing like Italy we have nothing to fear. On the other hand perhaps it is more like Hungary, I loved how they personified my nation plus Ferelden also is a fighter for independence (with more actual success)  ^_^

Considering that I don't believe that PC gameplay will be much different from Xbox gameplay, reading that information and considering that they are going to remove isometric view, I think that DA2 won't be a tactical game AT ALL. It will be an action game with combat on the like of The Witcher with some kind of party aid. Wich is not bad but it's really a big change from DA:O's gameplay.

If I have to push a button to attack, there is not a lot of sense in pausing, and there is no way to controll the battle field, while party controll become problematic. Obviously, I'll judge the game when I see some kind of video report about gameplay.

I've not a lot of problem if the game is still good, but I simply would like to hear the truth from the Devs about that topic. They can't say that they are going to mantain the tactical vibe of DA:O's and then tell us that they are removing iso view and that we have to push the button of our mouse to attack. Just tell us the truth so we know what kind of game DA2 is going to be.

No. Just no.

Just in there to maximize sales, get the people who dislike those types of games playing.
Not an improvement at all unless they are talking about possible income.
