Do you really believe that with a short development cycle like DA2's one, they'll have the time to develop two completely different gameplay system for the two platform? Knowing that isometric view won't be in the pc version too? Do you understand that a different gameplay would ask them to rework each and every battle in the game? That it would costs BW a lot of money with little reward considering DA:O's sales on PC?

Well, considering they wouldn't need to "develop two completely different systems" but rather leave the PC version the way it is and focus on changing the console version, it may be less difficult to pull off than you make it sound.

Also, i don't exactly get the hate towards this development. So console users press a button to have their character execute attack. Considering the DAO also has the player press button(s) to execute the special attacks and they do it frequently (unless you just like to leave everything up to the tactics) ... there doesn't seem to be much of practical difference, there.

Image IPBImage IPBTo be fair, there is a physical one.  It's a lot easier to rapidly tap X with your thumb than left or right click with your forefinger, at least for me.  But as I said before (addressing your first point) I think it's more of an issue of control, not gameplay mechanics.

Oh joy of joys! Button mashing is confirmed! yessssssssssssss!

Image IPBImage IPBBut only for the basic melee attack and we don't know if this feature is on the pc version since this was an X-box 360 magazine.  Somehow, I doubt they'd do the same thing on pc.  I know, you'll believe it when you see it. ;)

I guess you don't know they NEVER reveal the DD sales. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if the PC sales where close or above 1m.  I mean, The Witcher sold 1m copies, why DA:O wouldn't do the same or surpass it? Maybe we will never know the real PC sales.

But those gamers are vastly outnumbered by those who prefer more modern methods of RPG combat. And if you can't adapt, then I guess you'll just have to accept that you're not part of the target demographic this time around.

Button mashing is an older style than tactical gameplay and allways been more popular (except in tthe RTS golden years). It could be better or worse given different context but please, don't call it "modern methods of RPG combat" beacuse that's serious bull****.

it would be worse, it would mean the game relies moreo n player reflexes and skills opposed to character skills, also it would mean we have to click around instead of laying back and enjoy the battle of the characters from afar now and then

I do agree with you: I'm not saying that the game will be better. I'm saying that it will be an action RPG and not a tactical RPG. And it's difficult to compare apples with oranges. So the game could still be good if you like action RPGs even if it will be a completely different game from DA:O.

don't 3rd party gamepads still have turbo mode these days like those old megadrive pads? switch to auto mode and watch the harvester die in 30 seconds

I'd say the number of shooters available on PC (which involve clicking these buttons a lot) shows it's not really hard for people to use the mouse in such manner. Not to mention it could be argued the console version already had this advantage in DAO -- player's skills were also assigned to controller buttons in it, weren't they? While the PC version had the numeric keys and/or clicking on the UI gadgets for that.

The Witcher 2 will probably outsell Dragon Age 2's pc sales.
For it's flaws, the company sure seem to love the pc platform than simply chasing maxmised profits, deserve respect them Polish people. Heroes.

Just use something to hold the button, go take a shower, when you get back you will have beaten the game.

Image IPBImage IPBThe skills were assigned to controller buttons, but they had cooldowns and everything.  It wasn't like XXX equaled attack, attack, attack.  But we know that the abilities are the same in DA2 (in regards to cooldowns and that they're seperate, activated attacks) based on what we know so far (on the consoles).

Hmm...the Warden thing...

I'm sorry, nothing on this Earth (well, because concrete proof) is going to make me believe that they'd go so far as to show us the Warden, give him/her a voice, and a personality.

Also, I can accept most "default" choices, but I really don't want to see what their default idea of the Warden is supposed to look like. I honestly would like the option to define the Warden's gender and species in the beginning of every game.

Bethany: Hey, bro, did you see the Grey Warden (or heavily armed new guy) coming into town?
Hawke: I saw a girl/guy with a bunch of misfits.
Bethany: That's her. What did she look like?
Hawke: I dunno. What elves normally look like.

Only how Fereldans say it.

So because they revealed that basic melee attacks would be bound to the X button on Xbox versions, combat will amount to spamming the X button, even though X is just a basic melee attack? Fantastic use of logic.

I'm pretty sure they've said our choices from our previous games shall be included - this means we shall be importing some sort of file.
Hopefully it incorporates the faces of our wardens and renders it to the new engine style... Somehow :P

Oops! I should have specified, I mean for any default game. I mean, the choices are already there, right? A better-written conversation like that just sets the plot flags.
