You beat this brutally tough game?

Congrats, but you haven't gotten the real ending.

Now beat it again!

*evil laugh from the gaming gods*

Considering it's only for the consoles that are getting a faster paced combat, I'm extremely happy due to how slow and boring the combat on consoles was.

- Playing as a MageHawke seems like it will have an impact on the story, and I quote "I mean, if you're a mage from Feralden, that's obviously going to be a different experience, becase are you an apostate or are you from the circle." This suggests that classes will still have an impact on the story, probably more so than Origins.

Darn, I really wish they had been more clear on what that means.

That was some juicy information though, and I'm definitely playing as a mage.  Thanks Wolverfrog.Posted Image

I have no problem with a faster pace in combat. As a pc gamer, I'm hoping we get that too.

Riddle me this:

For the civil war part, and pardon my completely literal definition of the word, does that mean only people of the Free Marches are at war with each other? Because, technically, Thedas is a continent...

...However, I must point out that I have not been able to read any magazine articles on this. Back to my original point.....OR, will it be more like Ferelden against the Free Marches, etc?

I'm told your changes will be "minimal", so sorry there. Still, it'll probably be faster too. I'm told response on consoles is a lot more immediate this time. So you press "slash", you go BOOM and two Darkspawn now lack faces.

I cannot believe this is the point people are choosing to focus on.Posted Image

Though the 360 Article was a mix of some things the close monitoring community is already aware of, there were some *really* interesting new pieces. Out of all of those I think the one that I enjoyed the most was the indication that your class, rather then your point of Origin, will have a larger impact on how you are percieved by others in the game world. The Image in my ID is that of one my past Melee characters, my "Canon" character (who's portrait does not appear in my Image options) has always been a Mage. In DAO there were very few observations made about my class. I was just The Warden. Really, unless you were an Elf no one in Fereldan really seemed to care that you were a Circle Mage turned Warden save for poor Jory and one or two Chantry Revered Mothers.

Actually there were some others, and, you could announce that you were a mage a few times (sometimes with an intimidate option).  That said, I totally agree with you that it will be great if being a mage (or any other class) is a much bigger deal in DA2.

One of the things I found somewhat frustrating was that the only Origin that got Alot of attention in the later story was the Cousland Origin, but, sadly, you couldn't be a Cousland who was a Mage, so for me that extra bit of story is out the window.

Still, mages did get some neat plot/dialogue points that no one else did, not to mention many reappearances of people from the mage origin.

By that logic, so did the Dwarf Noble and the Dalish Elf.  Teh Human Noble story was best in the end, because you had a very real beef with both Loghain and his right hand man (or should I say, especially?)

Mmm...I disagree. You are presented the option to marry Anora or Alistair, but it affects little in the game aside from if you're romancing Alistair. Then you get the option to stay with him without being his wh--mistress. If you're romancing Leliana, you simply get a new opportunity to be dumped. Still another outcome, but it doesn't exactly feel like a lot more.

Killing Howe is your loose end as a Human Noble, and every Origin story gets one. Dalish get Tamlen, Mages get the Circle, Dwarves have the whole Orzammar thing, City Elves have the Alienage. In fact, I would say the Human Nobles benefit least from that particular plot point (while obviously gaining another) in comparison to all of the other Origins loose strings, because only a little bit of dialogue is changed, ultimately. You have to kill Howe. Now you can just tell him why it's personal.

Oh, and I guess mages can hate Loghain for consorting with Uldred and getting the Tower destroyed. Other than that, the only reason to dislike Loghain is because what he does to the Wardens--you can choose to get offended at his various atrocities that have little to do with you, but you don't need to.

Loghain also helped Howe in the destruction of the Couslands.

Well, yeah...but I was just talking about mages.

*shrug*  Which origin is the "best" is obviously a matter of opinion.  Like Saibh said, Loghain had a hand in what happened at the Circle and with Jowan, and both of them committed atrocities that the PC could be offended by, only with Howe, the human noble has a personal reason to hate him.

City elves also have a pretty good reason to hate Loghain, what with him selling their friends and relatives into slavery and all ^_^.

- There's a HUGE Civil War of some sort which will change the world of Dragon Age forever, sparked by you. This becomes the heart of Dragon Age II, and not only will you be in control of these choices, but you will forge your own timeline that the rest of the universe will discover and react to.

Civil War? sounds a lot like Origins to me, it even says a civil war on the back cover of Origins. Hope this one is Original and different from the first.

- There will be unique moments where having a certain party member with you will add to the event. At certain intervals, a follower option will allow you to tell a specific party member to leap into action. In a case X360 witnessed, Bethany can unleash her magic, and having the right person in the right situation can play dividends.

Was this just an example or it's an hint that Bethany won't have only a walk-own part in the game?

As another PC gamer I really hope we don't, and that DA2 remains the call-back to old cRPG's that DA:O was. (Yes I still have hope despite the voiced protaganists and paraphrased dialogue, talk of 'fighting like a spartan' and the news that the tactical camera will be even closer that of Origins :crying:)

Bioware have outright said it's being built for console gamers, not a CRPG.
