Still, mages did get some neat plot/dialogue points that no one else did, not to mention many reappearances of people from the mage origin.
By that logic, so did the Dwarf Noble and the Dalish Elf. Teh Human Noble story was best in the end, because you had a very real beef with both Loghain and his right hand man (or should I say, especially?)
Mmm...I disagree. You are presented the option to marry Anora or Alistair, but it affects little in the game aside from if you're romancing Alistair. Then you get the option to stay with him without being his wh--mistress. If you're romancing Leliana, you simply get a new opportunity to be dumped. Still another outcome, but it doesn't exactly feel like a lot more.
Killing Howe is your loose end as a Human Noble, and every Origin story gets one. Dalish get Tamlen, Mages get the Circle, Dwarves have the whole Orzammar thing, City Elves have the Alienage. In fact, I would say the Human Nobles benefit least from that particular plot point (while obviously gaining another) in comparison to all of the other Origins loose strings, because only a little bit of dialogue is changed, ultimately. You
have to kill Howe. Now you can just tell him why it's personal.
Oh, and I guess mages can hate Loghain for consorting with Uldred and getting the Tower destroyed. Other than that, the only reason to dislike Loghain is because what he does to the Wardens--you can choose to get offended at his various atrocities that have little to do with you, but you don't need to.
