But looking at the plain graphics (walk through the forest in DA and I doubt you'd fool anyone that you were in a tree forest) plus you can't pick up anything...Lots and lots of wonderful eye candy...
For me it looks like a console port...That can only be a bad thing if you happen aren't fond of consoles... Again, thank the powers that be for mods...

Plain graphics? Really? Dragon Age looked great on both my old and my new computer, and I doubt any game can fool people that they are in a real forest (unless they haven't actually seen a forest or are high).Tystone wrote...

Sexiness/Sex: It sells movies, cars and now games. No surprise there.
I have an issue with "sex sells", mostly becuase I doubt that is the case. People don't buy games to stare at the characters' breasts. For some it might be an added upside, for others, me included, it's an annoying downside. It has nothing to do with the success of the game.

Morrigan perhaps but I can't say I agree with the other ones (unless my memory's failing me again).Sexiness: All female characters in the game are over-sexualized
in my opinion. I'd prefer them to look capable rather than sexy. Armor looking
like it's made of spandex when worn by a female… that's just stupid.
1. You're not being FORCED to romance anyoneSex: Sex in potentially offensive. Anything related to sex should
be kept to a minimum and it definitely should not have anything to do with the
main plot.
2. Characters keep their underwear on, so that kicks nudity out of the equation.
3. Main plot? When does the main plot get involved?
Why? Bioware's trying to make a realistic (okay, realistic considering the setting) immersive world, why leave something like that out of it? And if you get a bad taste from it, well, you're a minority, deal with it.Also, rape. Never ever even mention rape. Just the implication that rape
took place in the game leaves a very bad taste.
Would you rather have BW take the Germany approach to videogames?Blood: Violence goes well with most video games, no doubt about
that, but all the exaggerated blood in the game is kind of stupid. Is there any
pride in making an 18+ rated game?
The human body holds about 5 liters blood, that should be reflected in how much of it flies out when I cleave an enemy with my sword.
Oh, and if you think this is exaggerated, go play Soldier of Fortune and come back.

I don't like the tactics much. You'd need way more tactics slots to program things the way you want, and once set you'd want to change it once in a while to account for new abilities. This would take way more time than it's worth and I wouldn't want the AI to fight for me anyway.

Sex? thats personal preferance i supose, It is a mature game, and i have zero problem with it. and honestly, If you dont want any sex, dont have it, you can shut down every single attempt the first time by saying, No thanks lets be friends so a relationship never even starts, let alone sex. you can also pass on any of the other uses of sex for gain in the game so really its up to you.
I was actually actively avoiding anything sexual during my first playthrough, but it comes up during the game whether you want it or not. Anyway it should be the other way around, you should be able to find the sexual stuff in the game only when you actively search for it.
i wouldnt mind have to search and seek for it more.. It is rather blantantly easy.. Its harder to get a girl naked in a dollar strip club than it is in some games.. I wouldnt mind atleast putting in some effort, everyone knows the chase is have the fun..

With regards to this, that can be easily solved by not having a ****ty computer.Kolikeos wrote...

You obviously seem to miss that this is in fact part of the fun in RPG's like this.Party Size: Only 4 allowed. Is the limit meant to lower
micromanagement time? Maybe for game balance? Anyway, I find it annoying having
to leave my fellows behind.

well you can spend extra points to open up more slots, that helps on some characters. But honeslty i dont like having everything tactic'd anyway. I want reasons to pop on characters to use certain abilities. To me tactics is sort of a default auto attack so they arnt sitting like bumps on a log if you dont do anything.
to me there tactics system is absolutly brillant, outside of a couple features i would like to see.. But other than that, its the best ive seen in any game to date.

its more like PC users got dumbed down so the game could just barely run on a console.. Im sure in a couple years there are gonna be mods that would turn a console game into mud..
If it was up to me, i would of passed on making it work on consoles all together.. i hate how PC games have to put up with a console games low limits. consoles are for shooters, sports games and mairo cart.. PCs are for real RPG's.. lets keep it that way huh?

I'm not sure why plain graphics = console in your mind. The thing that makes something look like a console port to me is a big clunky interface like KotOR's or ME's. (Does ME count as a console port? Graphics were OK there).

Are you a guy? Because if so, that's amazing and unheard of. The mage robes (the ones that don't come from the circle) are extremely impractical, thank goodness for mods. There are so many people in the DA2 forums saying that they need to add more mature sex scenes (there's plenty of things on the internet, okay?) more cussing (I assume these people are in high school who think it's mature to cuss) and more blood (because that's ridiculous.) It's like they're trying to make me ashamed of playing it.

But as for sex, I wouldn't mind seeing a more mature approach. Maybe include an option in the options screen that lets you have the more subdued scenes like in Dragon Age: Origins, but the ones in DA:O were, imo, laughable. The rest of the game was absolutely amazing, and I don't mind vagueness and it being non-graphic, but it was completely off putting to see my characters rolling about in ecstasy when nothing was obviously happening. Either go full out or just have a "kiss, fall down, fade to black" scene. The in between thing they did didn't really work imo.
Edit: No, I don't want to turn it into a porn game with nudity everywhere, I still do want it to be somewhat subtle with camera angles. Sort of like Mass Effect 1's scene.

Bioware started this, they brought this on theirselfes. Sex in games is always difficult, but in Mass Effect they did it right imho. It was a kinda erotic / sensual approach, without showing real sex or too much naked skin.
Then, with DA and Mass Effect 2 they totally ruined it. Now the character move and pose like having real sex. The problem is that they're mostly dressed and it all looks like sex between dolls. <_<
So it was only natural that people demand the easiest fix for this: Same poses, same moves, but without clothes. Now instead of puppet-sex we get plastic-sex-doll-sex.
There is one mod - which I haven't tested, yet - which seems to aim more towards the Mass Effect style: http://social.biowar...m/project/2418/
Seems to be our last hope but I have yet to try it. ^^

I agree that the combat is one of the best features. The good combat is what brings the game closest to Baldur's Gate 2 in my opinion. Really though, the best part for me was that the hardest difficulty was not too easy. In the last 10 years my biggest complaint about RPGs is that they have become way too easy (without mods).
I dislike the sex and blood, not because I have a thing against sex or violence but because it is done in such an adolescent manner. The blood reminds me of Hollywood movies: somehow we went from movies with too little blood to movies with too much, and hardly any are realistic. DA:O is the same. And while the blood spatters are somewhat more realistic than coming out of a battle squeaky clean, it seems like a teenage choice of a thing to get realistic about. What about torn armor, dishevelled hair, exhaustion etc.? The blood is just a gimick and an obvious one.
As for the sex. Meh. I would have no problem with it if it were done even half properly. It just looks silly, and the player made stuff makes it even worse. Everyone complained about gratuitous sex in The Witcher, but it was a lot more subtle and a lot more "adult" than this.
What I don't get it this: if the game is rated "Mature" how come the sex and blood is aimed at teens? No, scratch that thought - all Hollywood and American TV is like that so I don't know why I am asking.
With the female characters, I do not think anything is that overdone except for Morrigan's clothing.
I agree about the DLC. Actually, I hate the DLC. I cannot believe so many people are brainwashed into thinking that 1-2 hours of content - most of which was taken out of the original game - is worth $7-$15 dollars. I can see in a few years time having games where you get absolutely nothing for your $50 except lots of adverts for downloadable add ons. Kind of like Cable TV: you pay through the nose for it and you still have advertising.
Personally, my main complaint with DA:O is that I find it lacks atmosphere. The locations are all big encounter encounter zones and do not feel like a fantasy world to me. The art direction is terrible: all the levels are very generic and bland. If you are in a forest or a city and it just feels like a dungeon with trees/houses for walls and sky for ceiling then the immersion is rubbish imo. The final nail in the immersion coffin, for me, is that my Warden never talks. In old rpgs no character had voice acting, but now that we have rpgs where almost everything is voice acted it really stands out when my Warden remains mute. I know it is an expensive problem to fix but I would rather pay $20 for player character voice-over than for 2 hours of additional content.
Apart from the combat, the other area I feel DA:O shines is the dialogue and voice acting. I just wish my companions had more to say at more key events in the game. They are too quiet and passive at times.
Edit: I didn't mean to quote the entire op.

outside of stone prisoner, which i think was probably taken out, the other DLC's were made after the game was released, all cost about 5 bucks each, 400 points=5 bucks, and take a couple hours to play. Costs 5 bucks to rent a movie. id probably spend 40 bucks going to the bar to have a couple beers and watching monday night football.. (the amount of time it took me to play Lil's DLC) 5 bucks for a few hours of gaming is a steal when you compare it to other things you spend money on
if it helps the company get some extra revenue that in turn gets put back into more download content, by all means keep releasing stuff..
Personally though, id rather the new DLC be like stone prisoner, or lils song,, and less like golems and dark spawn chronicles
and personally id rather have many more stories, and many more options than listen to some voice actor.. to me its like action movies these days.. all flash, no substance.. thats what voice acting is to me. BG was arguably the best RPG ever made, the voice acting was about 5% if that..
