I'd call it a rather accurate distribution of the mentality at work. What's wrong about it exactly?  We are talking about a business, Business makes money it's  the nature of the beast, yes? Moneymoneymoney is exactly what the gaming industry is about, if there  is a way to get it, it will be done,  simple. You are water, they are  the sponge.  The only people to my mind in the gaming industry that seem to actually want to benfit you and me actively while making money,  is Valve.

There are already appropriate prayer meetings aka patch threads for you to visit
- best of all: you wouldn't be off-topic there ;)

Edit: misread pay into pray.

They probably will have DLC available like they did with DA:O and The Stone Prisoner etc.

You do realize that maybe it's EA's idea to release alot of DLC and not necessarily BW? I mean what are you going to do when your boss tells you they want you to release alot of DLC instead of putting it on the original disc? Say no? Quit? Sure but it's your livelyhood on the line. Not to mention the fact that you want to keep your job because you're getting paid decent for something you enjoy doing. And also the fact that if you quit over something like that, it would not look good on your resume' when you try to get another job in the game developing industry.
"Oh he/she doesn't like to release DLC to further sales......NEXT!"
Some of the DLC (for alot of games) is already on the original disc and you basicly pay to unlock it.Sometimes content is cut from the original game due to budget and/or disc space.Take The Stone Prisoner for example, it was originally in Redcliffe dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/The_Stone_Prisoner.
It could be worse.Street Fighter IV for example; DLC was released so you can buy outfits for the characters. What's the difference between that and buying outfits for your xboxlive avatar? Granted, it is a little ridiculous especially when they don't help further your game experience, they're for asthetic purposes. And how is trying to make money evil? The way I see it, a company offers you options.Whether or not you choose to buy is up to you.And really, most DLC doesn't effect the gameplay in a major way in the original game, it ADD'S to it.That's why it's DLC.

Im really not sure... My guess would be that EA (publisher) gets naturally a higher cut (share) of the phisical releases (DAO/Awakenings).

The DLC sales, being DLC only digital downloads, would go nearly all to the devs pockets.
That is my common sense talking, not sure how the deals work inside the industry.

apparently making money is evil. in the past couple years it seems north america has joined the rest of the world in hating money. except of course, when those individuals who hate money have money of their own. :o

Why is the syntax in this post coherent, when so many of your other posts are not? Is it performance art? Also, what is the significance of your profile name "Rubbish Hero"?

Genuinely curious, no sarcasm or disrespect intended.

I think there will be, sure. Free dlc when you buy it new seems to be a reasonable way to combat used game sales without punishing anyone.

If it's as good as Shale, then yes please. Otherwise, I'm indifferent.

Double-post, forgive me :(

Yes - the 2 available before the overlord dlc release.

I don't own and don't play me2 (no toolset).

So... it was basically just a donation to BioWare, then. That's... strange. But cool. ^_^

Yes. Also, Alien Swarm, free. Left4dead content, free, Leftdead 2 content, free. Even on console side, instead of banging out a bad Playstation 3 port like lesser business would do (EA/Ubisoft) Valve learned there lesson from
the Orange Box and held off until they actually got a Playstation 3 team. They also arranged that the Playstation 3 would get steam works so the users would get updated content on the fly like the pc as well as free content. Microsoft wouldn't allow them to do this this Team Fortress 2 or Leftdead 1/2. Valve deserve to win, they are winners, the best of the best, the the creme de la creme e.t.c... . When Gabe Newell got his Pioneer Award for being a pro at life, he outright indicated everyone is greedy and Valve are the best.

Would you support it if DVD and BD movies put all their special features online behind a code so resales don't have access to them?  That would be annoying and aggrivating to paying customers, new and used.  Resale is a part of every industry, even media industries like CDs, DVDs and books, yet for some reason gaming companies seem to think it's especially unfair to them and something terrible.

Selling the media you no longer want fuels new media sales... first-sale doctrine is a sacred consumer protection... this endless complaining about used game sales is getting old, frankly.

Do second hand games *really* have such a big impact on your profit?

Anyway, first day DLC's won't bother me as long as you don't butcher the vanilla game to sell some of it as DLC, or accost me with DLC promoting NPC's (i.e. PURCHASE PREMIUM CONTENT tag in dialogue options).

Ironically, many of the 'evil' choices in BioWare games--including, I'm sure, games and conversations you've personally worked on--have included the quick-buck reward in the form of lots of money.

DLC's not worth complaining about. If you don't feel that paying the cost of the game (or more) all over again to acquire about ten hours' worth of extra content is worth it, don't do it. Christ knows I won't be picking up Bioware DLC or expansion packs again.

Well, it can be... Bobby Kotick with a pointy tail and horns comes to mind. Though Bioware still makes great products and doesn't seem to like the excessive nickling and diming that Activision does, so no complaints from me :D.

I think it would be great if companies would start to handle patches as DLC ;)
