Hrm we must disagree on everything I suppose.

I found Garrus' change from ME1 to ME2 enjoyable because it allowed shep to bring him back from the "dark side", but the lack of Garrus dialogue made me mad.

Tali actually got better in my opinion, she went from walking, talking codex updater to an actual character with an enjoyable and interesting sidequest.

Wrex did well with what little time he was given, hope he does more in the third game though

Garrus and Tali were both fan-service retcons.

No matter how you treated or swayed Garrus in ME1 he turns into a renegade douchebag.
And no matter how much Tali hates you in ME1 she turns into a Shepard fangirl. They didn't carry over the personalities ME1 allows you to shape.

Um, I didn't notice any change. Plus, two years had gone by.

God, please, no more Oghren. This character is the worst of DA:O, he's just vulgar and unfunny.

It's bad enough he was the only one returning for Awakening (though... It was a very crappy extension, so at least there is a logic for him being in there...), please no more.

And I don't know where you got this whacky idea that he's a "fan favorite". He seems to be one of the LEAST liked character, in fact.

Some fans out there like him, I didnt say he was a HUGE fan favorite, but he is THIS fan's favorite.

But Bioware has said Oghren is a favorite of their development team which kinda overrides the fans : /

I can only shiver at the thought of such a horrible pressure that would make Oghren looks like a relief.
Or maybe they just have to restrain themselves on the rest of their games and it made some of them feel relieved to be able to jump into sophomoric "humour" (and I use this word very generously, because "humour" usually involves "laughing").

Perhaps they just see him in a different light as they were the ones that designed him.

And your stab at his humor, I myself found Oghren entertaining, a bit immature and not all his jokes inspired laughter, but he proved entertaining enough to stay in my group throughout the whole game.

But you seem set on your hate of Oghren, you won't change your mind, this saddens me Posted Image

HehAHAEHAHHAHAHAEEHEAHAHA....

Oh wait, obvious troll is not a troll? Well that's a first.

Oghren is one of the most worthless characters in the game(s), as both a character and as a combatant. As a warrior, he does nothing that Sten could not do better (or, be fair, Alistair if you set the stones in talent choice early on). As a character, he is the foulest and most senselessly rude party member, with NO redeeming features whatsoever (apart from facial hair worthy of being compared to Duncan's). His voice actor, though not technically bad at all, was HORRIBLY chosen (no, I'm sorry, but it's impossible to talk to someone who says "sodding" so much in an american accent), and his attempts at humor were painfully crass and had no place in an otherwise classy game. I suppose he is the token "one character I would kill so hard that they would die from it" party member, a la Yuffie from FF7 or that one guy from the Mario games... what was his name... Mario. There is simply no excuse for it- and don't say "he's a drunk, of course he's rude", because I have known drunks that were the epitome of hilarity- Oghren seems like nothing but an attempt to make us see how pathetic an apparently once proud person can get through personal misfortune. I don't know about YOUR Warden, but mine sees that kind of attitude and influence as a dangerous morale killer at best.

EDIT: speeling

It's not hate. If I hated him, I would have attempted to kill him.
It's contempt. The kind of guy you look down on, and just try to avoid because he's annoying to be with.

Id be overjoyed if any of the DA:O or Awakening characters carried over (except Loghain)

I dunno but I always found Oghren to be hilarious, i would try to hear everything he says.

But yeah, in DA:awakening, I think he was a bit affected by Felsi and the child and i guess he found his way to deal with it through immaturity. Everyone has their own way of venting i guess

There is a reason I go to Orzammar last in most of playthroughs... Recruiting him to have one extra at the gate besides Barkspawn and Sten... Zevran is usually dead, sometimes along with Wynne.

oh no... please, no more Oghren. Anyone but Oghren! I never used him in Origins and I let him become a warden just once in Awakening and I had enough...

Oghren was amusing in his own alcoholic, crass way, but I believe we have seen enough of him and I would actually be very surprised to see him back (well, perhaps as a brief cameo, but nothing more).

There are two extremes to avoid, IMHO: 1) jettisoning a character before his/her arc is over; 2) having him return again and again for a last bow when he/she has nothing more to say as we know everything about him/her. Now, Oghren has nothing more to say, I think - his transition from crude, drunkard Orzammar pariah to... crude, drunkard Grey Warden Posted Image, eventually hero and family man, has been completed in Awakening.

You bring up a good point, even though I would like to see Oghren as one of Hawke's companions, I would be fine with a cameo at least the same level as Wrex's in ME2

I didn't like Oghren when I first met him, but after a while he grew on me. Now I have to say he is one of my favourites with his drunken comments and his dry wit. I would definitely like to see him again.

Exactly, if only people wpuld give him a chance they would be able to see the design of greatness and awesomeness that he possesses

Then all  characters deserve another chance, because all characters have a fan base.
