I didn't like Oghren when I first met him, but after a while he grew on me. Now I have to say he is one of my favourites with his drunken comments and his dry wit. I would definitely like to see him again.
Then all characters deserve another chance, because all characters have a fan base.
Just look at the squad continuation from ME1 to ME2, only the characters that had 0 chance of dying showed up as companions. (Liara was kept out as she is being saved for ME3, implying that since everyone can die in ME2 they will not be returning)
this I did not know!

this I did not know!so what happens *SPOILER!!! to Oghren when left at a un-upgraded Vigil's Keep when Warden Commander helps Amaranthine?
He dies and Felsi cries to your Warden, the baby in her arms.
He gets knocked unconcious while leading an attack and wakes up to find himself praised as a hero.

I wonder if Oghren would get to grease the bronto with femHawke?
Hawke: Damn Oghren.. you sure are rough..
Oghren: Heh heh heh, yeah. You love it, don't you?
Hawke: No, the poor thing is probably in a lot of pain.
Oghren: Hey, don't start calling my bronto poor!
Hawke: Why are we greasing it again?
Oghren: ... it's too big to fit between those cliffs.
Hawke: Oh yeah.

I don't want Oghren anywhere near my gaming experience. Not in DA2, not in Awakening, not even in Origins. Just.. No. That's all.

I thought there would be more people wanting certain characters to make appearances.
Nathaniel is being thought over by the community, but I think it's largely in part to the heavy hinting that he pretty much is already in.

As much as I loved my companions in Origins and Awakening, I want my Hawke to make her/his own friends. I want to get to know and love new characters. When I do see old friends in 2 I'm going to be sad that I can't treat them like old friends. That's why I personally am not pushing for returning companions.
As far as Oghren goes, I think he's had his time in the spotlight.

I hate repeated characters because you've already gotten to know them, their loves and fears and such. When they return, while it's interesting seeing them in another person's view it just ends up being same old.

Perhaps we just share differing opinions concerning this but I think inclusion of at least one or two characters from one game to the next makes them feel more connected in my mind and allows for further development and growth of said characters.Dave of Canada wrote...

Oghren feels, at first, like a very one-dimensional fellow, but the more you talk to him, the closer of a buddy he becomes, and the more you realize he's probably the deepest character out there. Zevran was too interested getting in your pants, Sten was too humorless, and Alastair had bigger things, like being a King, to think about. Morrigan was a fairly typical "mysterious/sexy" character, Leliana was Joan of Arc as an ex-spy, and Wynne was just some old lady who was cool with everything. Oh, and the dog was a dog. Oghren was the only one with any significant level of complexity.
I felt like this was expounded on in Awakening, and even laughed a few times at his antics, though occasionally he felt a bit over-the-top. Branka, his alcoholism, as well as his reaction to Felsi and running away to join the Wardens is really indicative of just how broken of a person he is. He's someone who clearly has a lot of problems, and he hasn't really worked through them yet; the body humor is his way of compensating. Bringing him back in DA2 (the game spans, what, a decade? It's not inconceivable that he could show up) and helping him overcome his personal problems would be a great way to end his story.
As it is, it's just "he's a really screwed up guy who needs help." I'd like to see him get the help he deserves.

I know we love the characters from Origins but forcing them in places where they don't belong story wise seems like a disservice to Hawke's life. Seeing them maybe once or twice in the story is fine with me but that should be the end of it.

QFT, most people just write him off and don't give him a chance which is a damn shameBirdieboink wrote...
I liked Oghren, particularly in DAO, when you'd go into Orzammar with him and Wynne, and they'd discuss brewing together. Those were, by far, the most fascinating in-character conversations to listen to. Leliana and Sten's conversations were a bit "meh" by comparison, and as much as I like Alastair, I got really annoyed by his conversations with Morrigan, because they were just kinda the same thing, over and over and over again...
