If you really do prefer gaming on a console and have no interest in modding or the nostalgia of the Baldur's Gate style camera (which seems like it has been removed or changed in DA2 anyhow, not to mention the toolset might not be updated for DA2 for sometime) then there is no reason to write off the console version.

I have the 360 version out of necessity mostly, my pc won't run DA. However I still find the combat a lot of fun, very tactical, and not overly irritating (with the restrictions of a gamepad). It can be a pain only have so many hotkeys, but DA (well, DAO at least) is a game often best played using frequent pausing anyway.

In the end it's completely up to you. I will say that as much as I love my console version of DAO I would love to be able to play it on the pc though.

BTW. i dont get the comfort argument? I play on a 24inch Monitor with a nice chair. So comfort is a question of the chair/screen-combination you bought ;)

The comfort argument seems to be a proxy for whether someone considers gaming a "lean-forward" or a "lean-back" activity.

There's also a contingent of people who feel a need to have a different physical setting for relaxation activities than they have for work activities Since they work sitting in front of a screen....

Origins was way better on the pc.

It's too early to speak of Dragon Age II, but probably it will be better at least in the graphics (if your pc is not that bad, but anyway graphics is not too important) and the gameplay will still offer a deeper tactic approach, other than the possibility to just play with third person visual with a more casual way. I think, at least.

Anyway, to all that speak of the need to spend a lot in upgrade the pc... well, that's not true, not in this generation at least.

It was true years ago, when not all the games were multiplatforms, but nowadays the old hardware of the console stops the need to spend a lot of money in upgrading the pc, since every game has to run in the PS3 and X360, technically inferior to the pc (and in fact the better graphics we have seen in this gen is the one of Crysis, a 2007 game exclusive to pc market).

I bought my computer more than two years ago and since then I played every game on the highest details (except for Crysis, played on high and not maximum, and GTA IV with EFLC, two very bad portings btw) and until the next generation of console I won't be changing my computer with a new one).

Indeed, I don't blame the OP for asking, but these threads are always a bad idea. It won't be long before the usual suspects appear extolling the virtues of their chosen platform and telling us how much better people they are for it. (I play on PC, not that it matters)

I'm generally a console player but there is no question Dragon age was better on PC (as it was originally made as a PC game which was later ported) I'd wait till more info leaks this time though, since consoles are a concern from the start.

How do we know this isn't a troll thread?

Possibly.. but I feel as though OP is indeed asking a genuine question for his/her own benefit. It's just a matter of *who* posts obnoxious, ignorant things in here.

BioWare has always been a PC developer. Therefore I would guess that the PC version will be their better offering. However, from what BioWare's said of the two versions of the game, if you want a more tactical, stragetic feel: PC, if you're wanting a more fluid "actiony" version: console. The story's going to be the same, it's just be some mechanical difference between the two.

Personally I prefer PC to console whenever I can get it.

I think op must know, like everyone else, that his question can't be answered yet.

There's two different versions. Perhaps he's not sure which version to get.

If you want your combat closer to the way DA:O was, then you want the pc version. If you want a action packed 300 movie get the console version.

Well, BioWare used to be a pc developer, but that was ten years ago, back at the time when they made games like Baldur's Game and Neverwinter Nights (NWN is not that good, but it's a pc game as well).
Now they're just a multi-platform developer and pc is just a platform as the others, not their favourite one, nor pc is their leading platform for all their games (Jade Empire and Mass Effect are developed first for the Xbox, for instance).
They usually pay attention to the pc market and that's better then many other companies, which are always in favour of the consoles, do, but BioWare is no Blizzard and no Valve.

Still you have both, on both plattforms, there are more then enough games where i can alomst get into a lying position, yet there are more then enough games on the console where i am "leaning-forward" when i play on my console.

I think its about furniture not about the plattform ;)

I'm capable and familiar with playing on both. Currently I have a PC (built myself) and a PS3. I highly suggest getting this game, and any game from BioWare, on the PC if at all possible. Once you've developed a familarity with the differences you'll unerstand why I suggest it.

I found the game incredibly boring when I played it (the console version). But then again, I like my RPGs, FPSs, and RTSs on a computer.

I'm a longtime PC user, never had a console but I can understand why people want to use them. The problems with hardware and software sometimes get frustrating, but the PC has the MOUSE, when I have tried console games the one thing missing is the precision of the mouse.

The lack of an mouse on consoles make the problems of the PC seem minuscule.

Many games are now made with consoles in mind, and that leads developers to shy away from "old-school" RPG's with lot's of stats and inventory management.

My hope is that the equivalent of a mouse is made for consoles, NOT that I would acquire a console. But hopefully that would return the standards of games to what they used to be.

Imagine, maybe some day, an RTS for console.

This may be a stupid question, but why aren't consoles compatible with a keyboard and mouse via usb port?

If I owned a console, this would be a great option.

Console (360) gives a more intense, cinematic, and more in depth feel than the drawn out PC version.

Just my opinion though
