Even if I could get it for the Pc. I'd opt for the console.

I completley HATE rts games, so the farthest I can get from them the better.

However I'm alittle nervous about the system being similer to Jade Empire. I thought JE's combat system was pretty boring.

But seeing as its been years since they made JE and obviously have progressed as a development team. I'm not too worried.

Console all the way Thunder-humpers.

There are pros and cons to each system. I go PC for games with a pause element, but 360 for shooters if I can't use a gamepad on the PC (for some reason I find gamepads easier to use for shooters than the mouse).

If you want to watch the action unfold on your large tv while you're sitting on the sofa, if you like the controller (assuming DA2 won't be GfW), or if your PC can't do the game justice graphics wise, then go console.

If your PC is good enough to really ramp up the settings, though, then I'd go PC - I know it's a shallow reason, but Origins looked very pretty on a good PC :0)

I haven't bought a console or any games for one this generation at all, simply because they are so expensive. PC is alot cheaper so I've stuck exclusively with that for about 5 years now.

I have faith that Bioware will give the PC version of DA2 the attention that it deserves, ME2 was the exception not the rule.

At least 75% of my gaming happens on the PC. Currently it's close to 100%, in fact. I do also own a PS3, but I mostly use it just as a media player, though when some interesting PS3 exclusive comes out my playtime on the platform increases temporarily. I feel western RPGs especially belong on the PC, there's no chance I'd buy DA2 on any other platform. :)

As long as your PC wasn't used to send astronauts to the moon, you should be able to considerably beat out console graphics.

Also, I was genuinely unaware that there were people out there who preferred thumbstick control over mouse-and-keyboard for shooters.  How can you stand being so imprecise?

If DA:O is anything to go by, the PC version will be much better. I would never consider getting an RPG on a console. It just seems... wrong, somehow

They have 104 buttons and operate at a desk? Are completely open and not governed stringently by Microsoft or Sony?

Hence the other part of my post you didn't quote about "proprietary operating systems".

You could mod your console to allow Linux to be installed.  And. both new consoles recognize standard USB keyboards, my friend.

For the record, I am an IT person, own both consoles, a home baked PC, a home theater PC and a NAS share next to a file server in my basement.  All devices are pretty interchangable.  The biggest pro's for the consoles are that they are cheap, compared to PC's to maintain and are portable, which allows for easy access in a TV area so more than one person can play at a time.

If your concern is being able to sit back on your couch and play in your living room on your big screen TV...your PC and your consoles can do that just fine.  Free your PC from the office!!!!

THis whole "One is better than the other" argument is stupid.  Who cares?  They are just tools we use to access our media.  Use what works for you.

They are essentially PCs, yes.

PCs a couple years behind the GPU curve when they're released, but PCs.

With a game like DA the PC version is just so vastly superior, due to mods alone. Its totally night and day, the amount of extra awesome you can get from mods. If mods weren't a factor, I would think its more of a personal taste factor, do you like playing on the PC or console more, but when you factor in mods there's just no comparison, its the PC all the way!

I am a console girl, have been since I first played sonic on the Sega Mega Drive.

I currently own a crazy amount of retro consoles and a 360, PS3 and Wii (although I am pretty sure my Wii cries itself to sleep at night due to lack of use) so my decision was which console version to get and since DA:O was far prettier on the PS3, I'll go for that version of DA2

I never seemed to be able to get used to playing games on the PC

Well it looks like the console version won't be a port this time. That was Bioware's biggest mistake for the first game. They decided to port the PC version, which is why there are so many bugs for the console that have taken forever to fix. It's harder to work with a port than to work with code that is made for the console.

I actually may pick up both copies if I have the money and a good PC by then. For one I want my story on the 360 to continue from my DA:O save, but I also want to experience the more tactical version the PC has to offer.

because they force you to use them since most crappy console ports only work with the 360 gamepad on pc, thus forcing you to use it while telling you "see? why do you play on pc when you can only use a 360 pad and the quality of the game is the same on a 360? buy a 360!!!11"

that's why. Microsoft wants you to play on 360.

Arkham Asylum. Buy the game. Hook up your Logitech controller. Then watch Batman mysteriously walk in the opposite direction you point him in. Nothing in game says why. So then go online. Look into why the hell this is happening. Find out through blogs, Arkham Asylum only 'supports' 360 controller. How cute. Then visit Logitech website. Learn how to reprogram controller. One hour of your life gone.

Microsoft : You. Are. Awesome. :wizard:

I also hate RTS games.  I don't think DAO and its ilk are at all like RTS games, though, as you can pause the action to give orders.  There's no need for frantic action on the part of the player under any circumstances.

ME2, on the other hand, requires quite a lot of frantic action, so I'm not thrilled with it.

A proper CRPG is playable by a quadriplegic.  Playable slowly, but playable.
