I can't start the service and i'm using an External HD to help save space. I have fixed it in Device Manager so that when the service is being looked at to start it will look under the right drive. But i'm still having problems with starting the service. I'm still getting error messages.
I have an i5 MacBook Pro running at 2.56 GHZ and 4 GB of ram and a nVidia GForce Grahpics card running at 330m at 512mb. and an external HD

What version of Windows are you using? Have you installed .NET Framework on your computer?

Which .NET framework? The current version is 4.0. I think Dragon Age requires at least .NET 2.0 SP 2 to run. I'm guessing either you have an older version of the framework than is required, or the .NET framework version you installed didn't install correctly. I can run you through the cleanup, once you confirm what version you're running. (Navigate to C:\\WINDOWS\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\[version number])

You should find a .NET 2.0 SP2 installer on your Dragon Age DVD or folder. Try to install it.

It's located in Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\dragon age origins\\redist\\NetFx20SP2_x86. Run Setup.exe.

Interesting-- so the Steam version doesn't install .NET if it's missing... I'd still upgrade to the latest and "greatest" version of the .NET framework, version 4.0. If nothing else, it alleviates some of the crashing you'll likely later encounter.
