Not only am I wondering how different character generations will be. But, I'm also wondering if they will release a character creator before the games release, like they did with Origins. It'd be interesting to see what sort of character we can design beforehand.

I'm hoping for more customisation even though it's only one race. Like perhaps body weight and height editing. More hairstyles, hair colours, longer hair, actual proper black hair colour. More eye colours like perhaps some actual light blue eyes. And just generally more customisation.

What do you think?

We don't know if they'll release it early, but I hope so.

I imagine it'llkbe more robust since we only have to worry about humans. I remember the art director (on the second podcast, link is at a thread at the top of the page) talking about how they rebuilt the character creator from the ground up and that they wanted you to be able to create any human that you wanted to make. Obviosly, they can only do so much, but I'm pretty optimistic. I'm not getting my hopes up for editing the body since they have to put it in cutscenes, but that would be very cool. At the very least, I'd like to pick from, say, three body models for muscularity (my mage should not have rippling abs imo). They could have muscular, medium, and slim.

While I thought the character creator was darn good, I could always go for more depth, definately with hair.

/fingers crossed for pre-character creator

this could be possible because it was in guild wars mages (necros mesmer etc) were skinny lanky and pretty small and warriors ( Paragon and Warrior)  were really tall and muscular obviously it was a basic character creator because it was mmo but it could be in this

I'd like to know about the skills and abilities as soon as possible, to begin building a character builder tool, but sadly I doubt I would get to know the intricacies of the game via the character creator.

I would fangasm over a character creator being released before the actual game comes out. Sure, I probably won't end up using the character I made.. (true story right thar) but it's still fun nonetheless!

The one thing I would absolutely love for BioWare to incorporate is the system that APB had for hair. It allowed you to edit bits of a hair style - such as length and general style - to the point that the chances of you running into someone with the exact same hair are slim to none.

I imagine they won't actually create one. Dragon Age Origins had 6 different Origins, so you had a lot of options. Dragons Age 2 is a more focused affair, so I don't think they are going to put more spotlight on the character creator this time.

I just want more options for practically everything, mainly the hair & Facial Hair. But I would like to see if they release it early like they did with origins, but I dunno, maybe.

Definately like the idea of making my own hairstyles, but would settle fo a larger range of styles.

I hope this time I'll be able to see the eyecolor in the creator. >.>

I really only care about the number of hairstyles. It was seriously limited in DA:O and so many NPC looked the same.

I think either Sheryl or Mary mentioned that there will be chest hair for Male!Hawke  But I would like to have choices of bodily tattoos on my Female!Hawke for sure...

I certainly hope they do release a stand alone cc. Although, I am a bit nervous as to how restrictive it will be. I hope it doesn't turn out like the Mass Effect cc. That was horrible.

Have you ever played All Points Bulletin? It has the best character creator I've ever seen. You can edit everything, including the body. I hope DA2 character creator is similar.

As long as the character creator doesn't get gimped a la Mass Effect, I'll be happy.

But, since they only have to work with one race, maybe this time they'll give us even more in-depth customization? I really hope so.

I want selectable bodytypes and more hairstyles (or CUSTOMIZABLE HAIRSTYLES *gasps*).

Oh? :o.
I better be able to make patterns with chest hair, like, a smiley face.

I figure since the game is more about the 360 version (or at least I assume so), we won't get an early CC.

I'll say the same thing I say on every char creator thread. I hope our characters will be well lit this time. I'm sick of creating characters in dungeon enviornments where you don't get to see the eye colour or skintone properly.

I'm tired of squinting at the screen trying to puzzle out if the eyecolour is green or blue and finding out that my char is too pale when starting the game in a sunlit area.

I would definately be all for a CC sent out like DA:O.

More hairstyles are a definate must.  Ugh the styles were so limited in DA:O I always used the same one for each character which tells me they sucked (IMO).

Eye color is fine really.  Height and weight I can do without.  I think it's a problem with cutscenes really.  I mean look with dwarves kissing Alistair.  They brought them to his same height!  So I am guessing the developers had one set code for size in all the cutscenes and will keep it that way.

Exactly! That was the same problem I had with ME's cc. The lighting is always different in the CC than it is in the game. I found it exceedingly frustrating.Image IPB

I only hope that the hardware requirements will be sufficient for post 2005 systems, even though my system is due for yet another massive upgrade.

but yes, I certainly am hoping that there will be body-type modification. overall, i just would like to see an improved and more comprehensive character creation feature in the game.

if its going to be medieval Mass Effect, I want the best; I want it to scream "I am bad-ass warrior Hawke, and this is my favourite game in the Bioware lineup". of course, not jynxing Bioware's future roadmaps to success :P

This is so true. SO SO true!!!
And in my case, it was a lot more tragic.
My first character was a bit too pale for me ,and after some time, I decided to begin the game again, with basicaly the same decisions and a non pale-character. And guess what, I completely forgot about the bad lighting in the CC. So, I got a pale character yet again...

Anyway, about the DA2 CC, I really hope for the best. More or less, this is my CC wishlist
1) Better lighting (well, that was obvious)
2) More hair options
3) More eye options
4) Direct control over anything at the CC without the toolset
5) Height sliders

Never forget to give Mr Fernando Melo credit for making the character creator possible

Fernando showed up on the forums one afternoon and started taking notes about what we wanted...

In an amazing and unforgettable event, Mr Melo took all our suggestions about needing a character creator and before you knew it WHOA....the Character Creator was born.
