Neither the show nor the novels were all that good, but the show had Tabrett Bethell. In this rare case I say just see the show (and just season 2 at that) and forget the novels. Especially the later ones...man, if I didn't have a compulsion to finish every series I start, I'd have given up on them like 3-4 books in. They basically turn into a bunch of Ayn Rand rants. The best way I've heard the ridiculousness expressed is "Richard carves a statue that turns people into capitalists." It sounds hilarious, but it's not that far from the truth.mdfitz2 wrote...
maybe start on the sword of truth series aftr watching legend of the seeker ,but probably not since whenever i see a movie/ tv series on a book or books i cant read the book afterward because the movie/tv series ruins my imagination. this happened to me with lord of the rings
I'm the same way, which is to say I'll be reading the second to last WOT book when it hits, even though I really don't care at this point, I got this far so it's almost unthinkable not to see it through. Also, lots and lots of Civ 5.

I've been burning up days recently ever since I started a new Hearts of Iron 2 campaign with the 'Kaiserreich' mod (alternate reality in which the German Empire won WW I, Russia didn't become Communist, etc.).
Also re-installed Medieval 2 Total War (gonna re-get the Third Age mod, currently have the WiP version of the Westeros mod. Greyjoy FTW!)
Oh, and I have to finish a Mass Effect playthrough (so I can replay ME2)
Aaaaand maybe have my book reading backlog...err...reduced. (recently finished The Calling, moving on to ME: Ascension, but got sidetracked by Frederick the Great

Finish ME2 again and I am replying Fallout 3 while I wait for Fallout: New Vegas and once that comes out I am sure I will spend a ridiculous amount of time playing that.
Apart from gaming, I have a stack of books I have been meaning to read and there is work of course

Maybe I'll replay Oblivion. I don't know why it gets hated on so much around here. It's a great game.
(it's on sale on Steam today too!)
We crap on oblivion because Morrowind was so much better, and Oblivion symbolizes how RPGs are being 'streamlined/dumbed down" for casuals.
I played a TON of Oblivion, and I managed to have fun. But good lord, the "close all them darn gates" quest was atrocious and the broken level scaling ruined both combat and character development.
I still play Bloodmoon and Tribunal, IMO Tribunal is a great example of how to streamline an RPG like Morrowind without dumbing it down like Oblivion.
Tribunals quest lines are also fantastic.

Two Worlds II, that game is actually looking good.
I actually managed to enjoy Two Worlds 1, as long as you play it more like a GTA and don't expect Morrowind, it can be pretty cool

I prefer the homestyle Tommy's Tequila in S.F./CA but the girls can't handle it's strength, so we go to the local Chevy's for the fruity/soft drinks

I have tried to play Two Worlds three times in total, I cannot make it past the unskippable cutscenes with the most absolutely dreadful voice acting I have ever heard.

For the long term, WoW funnily enough. I'm no MMO gamer, and there are only two things on God's green earth that could ever get me to shell out money for one. One is Star Wars--hence, the fangirly squeeing over TOR. The other is hitting monsters with good friends and some alcohol, and after much pleading from my boyfriend--and promises to cover most of my subscription costs--I have finally relented.

Yeah. I don't think even Wheel of Time is all that great a series (Rand is SUCH a Mary Sue it's not even funny), but at this point it's like a soap opera for me. People don't watch soap operas because they are triumphs of filmmaking, but because they "know" the characters and want to know what happens next. I can't WAIT to hear about Mat going into the Tower of You-Know-What to try to find You-Know-Who (avoiding spoilers).relhart wrote...

The voice acting is indeed awful, indeed, but I think the game is maybe %5 cutscenes. The game is much more fun if you play it like a 3D diablo style and ignore the story

Since ME isn't really holding my attention, I'm catching up on books, tv shows, and movies I've missed while obsessed with MMOs.
May then play Dragon Age again, or just waste time on Diablo 2.
