Actually, I would prefer the cgi cinematic to be the first video they release about the game. This is a trailer after all, and its purpose is to inspire hype. The trailer for DAO, though not exactly accurate to the gameplay, helped push me to purchase it. Oh, and the trailer was pretty freaking awesome. The gameplay videos along with dev diaries and such could be released later like goodies for those who choose to follow and research the game.

I'm preety sure a CGI trailer will e released a little closer to launch. For now, I'm guessing we will be getting something that will introduce us to the new story.

Most people would be displeased with a CGI cinemetic trailer for our first one. A first trailer should give us an idea what the game's going to be like--not the flashy look-at-Leliana-backflip-and-Morrigan's-kung-fu-staff we had from Sacred Ashes. Not saying I didn't like the trailer, but if it were the first trailer...

I'd definitely prefer the very first look at DA2 to be actual in-game footage, not Blur CGI trailer. At least with Origins, we had seen the game in motion plenty before they released the Blur Warden's Calling trailer and then the Sacred Ashes one.



The Blur trailers are cool and all, but more often than not have absolutely nothing to do with the actual game- either gameplay or how characters or things end up visually. Going with a Blur trailer first likely gets a subset of people excited and others disappointed over nothing, as the game won't be anything like the trailer- but we won't know any better seeing as we haven't seen the actual game in motion.

I would love a CGI trailer just for how EPIC they are, but I would prefer a gameplay trailer just to make everyone stfu over the changes.



PS: entirely off-topic but is BG1 better than BG2? and do I need to play the first to get the story of the second?

The second one is a direct continuation of the first one but it makes assumptions from the first one's playthrough like who died and who helped you. The story is stand alone but you'd appreciate it more if you played the first.

Seriously, you can't picture Leliana doing a backflip?

Sten however is not a huge black guy.

No, they couldn't. You seen some of the jumps they manage? They're inhuman. Also, Morrigan's spider isn't that big.

As a follower of the Olympics I've seen people pull off stuff that make Leliana's stunt look childish.

Skip to 1:37...maybe some people can achieve that, but generally they have a springboard (darkspawn body doesn't count ) or a pole, and aren't wearing armor.

In any case, I wish we could have had a female Warden equivalent...she could have been an AoE or DPS mage = Morrigan, Oghren = Sten, Zevran = Leliana, and Alistair = Malcolm. Sorry Wynne and Dog.

I also forgot how the Blur trailers tend to have glowing Grey Warden eyes, something that doesn't exist in any shape or form outside of the trailers.

I see chainmail, which is pretty damn heavy. In any case, I wouldn't have expected the game to be like this.

My friends who purchased the game after seeing the Violence trailer and then the Sacred Ashes trailer expected they were getting  something like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance / God of War.
