I strongly agree that fewer characters with more going on related to the main story would have been preferable to what is. The three Miranda/Jack, Jacob/Zaeed and Samara/Thane characters sounded more interesting than the six characters we ended up with. I think we have the suicide mission to blame for this love boat thing. With so much potential death they needed cannon fodder - enter mass of poorly developed largly romancable characters. The romances are a simple way to add a few lines to seven of the twelve characters and give the player the feeling that he has a connection with them. Giving them full personality skeins would have taken more work than simply having everyone and everything tell Shepard how awesome the Commander is and ask for sexy time (and/or vice versa).

If you reduce the number of companions to a sensible amount but keep the amount of writing the same, you can give every companion an appopriate amount of dialogue and interaction worthy of a supposedly "character-driven" game. And it'd even save money, since you'd need less voice actors.

Weeell i recently helped myself to viewing these videos for the sole sake of knowing something in its entirety before bashing it on the interwebz.
However, the sneaky bastard who tried to dull me with pointless banter, nitpicking and a complete inability of willing suspension of disbelief struck out at me in episode 15, where he made complete crystal-clear-and-crisp sense all of a sudden.
Dude you have a point there, just maybe try to communicate that (very valid) point in a way that will not ****** off almost anyone at first glance, including the very people you wanted to reach with this in the first place (Bioware).
Cheers

One suggestion I have to make - Please remove the music from all the videos, it's just too distracting.
